Wine Experience Cafe and World Cellar Ratings and Reviews
Terrible experience. Went on Valentines day for a 6:30 reservation, and the service was extremely slow. Our entrees weren't served until 9:30 pm! To add insult to injury, I ordered scallops, and they brought me a lobster tail. After the long wait for our entrees, I just decided to keep the lobster tail. The manager came by and apologized, but instead of offering us a discount on our meals, he gave us a gift certificate to come back. I have no interest in going back, and nor should you. Very disappointing.
I brought my family and friends to the restaurant for my wife's birthday. The restaurant had a few tables going but I would not consider it busy. The service was slow. It took 15 minutes to order a drink and wine. Some of the food was considered "good" but we also had a few meals that were terrible. The short ribs dinner came out cold. The meat had either an old or freezer burnt smell. The pasta meal came out cold and had mushy overcooked noodles. I ordered a hamburger cooked medium. The burger came out about as raw as it could get. Our server then offered to have it cooked a little more. I kindly asked her to have the chef cook a new burger. I was hoping for a little better experience for the over $600 bill I paid which included a 20% tip that was non-negotiable. On a good note, the wine that was recommended was excellent.
Juan Carlos was our waiter, and was exceptionally knowledgeable about the wines and how to choose flights based on the food, and vice versa. We were there to celebrate an anniversary and were seated for almost three hours, but never felt rushed. We'll definitely be back.
I was excited to spend new years eve here, the menu seemed to be fantastic although a bit pricey at $90 a person, but hey it was new years. We enjoyed the first course - goose liver and beef Carpaccio , the soup however was a disappointment. I thought lobster bisque would have at least one piece of lobster but it did not, it also had medicinal taste. My husband enjoyed his steak, I liked my veal shank. We ordered a bottle of wine, but discovered that it cost 23 dollars at the wine store in the restaurant - we paid 50 dollars for it at our table. I get that is where they make money but that is a bit steep. My husband enjoyed his dessert - the bread putting was very good, my cheesecake left a lot to be desired, I had one bite and pushed it away. It was flat and hard like it had been sitting out. Over all it was nice, but not worth the $300 price tag, for that kind of money I will head back to Del Friscos.
Lighting glare from retail half of store ruined potentially romantic booth. Table by window front was drafty. So was second table location from ceiling vent blowing down. Stemware was great. Mussels chewy and heavily sauced. Wish waitstaff would present themselves with a more confident posture. There was a visible coat closet, but it looked like a storage closet. No one offered to take our bulky coats. Kitchen crew yelling through service window when order ready. I didn’t know if this was a diner or fine dining experience. Didn’t like salad or burger. Food quality did not justify price point.
Everything was overpriced and I had a miserable birthday dinner. Food was average and noise level abominable. Restaurant had a social sales pitch dinner starting at our arrival. They should have closed restaurant for evening. Minimal amount of overpriced food.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner, both of us had just got into town. Party of four; two kids. Both the kids really enjoyed the meal, which is saying something. I had the world wine flight; outstanding. The turkey dinner was really tasty; the turkey was perfect!
We were a bit leery of going to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner, but this was a great choice. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the food was outstanding. We will make it a point of returning the next time we’re in town so we can taste the regular menu too.
We had our Thanksgiving dinner here, the first time in my life I had ever eaten away from my home or a relative's home. I was apprehensive that the meal would be lacking or not up to what I am used to for a Thanksgiving meal.
What a great meal.......everything was very fresh, the turkey, dressing, potatoes, an appetizer plate with shrimp, and much more. Nice complementary wine.
The service was great and after the pumpkin pie ala mode I left feeling just the way I have always felt when dining at home at Thanksgiving.........so full, wanting to take a nap.
This place has the menu, wine list and style of a high end restaurant, a creative chef with frequent menu changes, but a casual setting. Eldon checks on everyone and is always a marvelous host. It is a bit pricy but perfect for that special occasion. There are also special tasting and dining events, great wine and cheese tasting flights and knowledgable staff to suggest wines for any taste.
My favorite place to eat.
The Wine Experience Cafe has been a favorite of mine for years. Delicious food and wine, great service and atmosphere. Even better is that you can "try before you buy" many of the wines that are available in the wine store. Unfortunately, it's not close to my house, and dinner is a bit on the expensive side. We used a wine and cheese-tasting Groupon for this visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Lovely wines and delicious cheeses, served by a very knowledgable bartender. I even bought one of the wines (only $13!) to take home. I plan on buying the next-level-up Groupon for our next visit.
Quaint, knowledgeable sommier, interesting wine and varied wine flights. Wine is sold in the adjoining store. Awesome cheese flights. A++ overall, we are moving into the area soon and I plan on becoming a regular. Thy did have been and liquor, too for the non-wine drinkers.
I've been here on a number of occasions, but it had been a while. Previously, I have always enjoyed the wine and food. However, this time I thought the food did not live up to its previous standards. The herb crusted pork was tasty, but tough; my friend struggled in cutting into his steak. However, the pizza my wife ordered was outstanding.
The waitstaff and the wine were terrific, and the owner was friendly and cordial, but the food was a little disappointing this time. I will still go back in the future, but I will stick to the pizza, pasta, and cheese selections. And, the wine of course.
In the Southeast of greater Denver exists a wonderful unique restaurant which stands apart from all of the chain restaurants . It is called The Wine Experience, just off Main Street in the Southlands shopping center. The menu is "eclectic" and "gourmet" with dishes for all tastes and appetites. The wine list is outstanding with a wide variety of wines by the glass to bottle of your favorite vintage. The owner ship and service staff "know" food and wine and are friendly and welcoming. The Wine Experience possesses a casual up-scale atmosphere where one feels at home . To our way of thinking this is the best and our favorite restaurant in the Southeast of Denver.
This is my 3rd visit. I keep hoping the food gets better, but the main courses are still blah. They need new chefs.
The wine selection is excellent, the servers are great, the starters are good. But the main dishes are always bad. I also do. It think they keep their kitchen area very clean. I see a lot of wiping the forehead and not waging their hands after. This could be an excellent restaurant, but the management needs to get better takers in the kitchen.
This is my third time at this restaurant and sad to report was not my favorite visit. The wine and cheese is wonderful as always but one thing I will note was the inexperience of the servers this round. The first cocktail my BF ordered was awful sadly, he ordered the vodka gimlet and not only was it made poorly BUT it was barely full - and the glass was very, very small. So we just stuck to wine the rest of the night. I love going in being able to ask questions about the wine and get more information but it was more than obvious that our server was not only not old enough to drink or pour, but was not well versed on the drink menu at all. Don't get me wrong though, she was very nice and the customer service was fine but with Wine Experience in the name, I expect the people serving my wine to know about it.
As far as food goes, again the cheese plates are great. But the entrees were subpar. My guest ordered the scallops and had to send the plate back because it was lukewarm - and the scallops were uncooked. We were also one of TWO tables in the restaurant, not sure how food could be served cold. For that price or just in general, I was super disappointed. I've never experienced uncooked scallops. I had a salad, and it was just okay - nothing like the ones I've previously had. Overall, I really like this place and was disappointed it didn't live up to my rave reviews when I took my BF there. Not sure if I will be back anytime soon but definitely will pass on dinner.
We spent Mothers Day brunch at The Wine Experience. It was a wonderful meal; our kids, ages 8 and 5 loved the special kids' menu and devoured the breakfast muffins and Belgian waffles.
We enjoyed the bacon cinnamon rolls and quiche Lorraine, the scallops, Wine Experience salad, and crepes. All were delicious.
The flourless torte was our favorite dessert.
Juan Carlos was our server. He was friendly, funny and great with the kids.
A memorable Mother's Day for sure. Thank you Wine Experience for a great afternoon. We'll be back!
