Wine Cellar Restaurant
The duck confit is delicious, everything was wonderful, service was fabulous
The food was good, albeit overpriced. But our dinner was not enjoyable. While waiting for half of our party to get to the restaurant, my wife and I heard many staff complaining loudly and cursing about stupid customers and about how they hate the restaurant.
After we were seated we were rushed to order as well.
We won’t be going back
I have been going to Wine Cellar for over 10-years this is the first time our service was bad. My wife's crab salad was on the counter for over 30-min and when she told the waiter, he said he will get her a new one, he walked away and brought the same one back. We ordered 2-Rib eye steaks and when I get the bill I noticed he charged me for 3. I called him on it and he was like it was not a big deal. Wine Cellar is one of our favorite restaurants and I am sure this waiter and this service was a fluke, I hope.
We visited on mother’s day and sat on the patio. The server was delayed in taking and delivering our order but the food was absolutely amazing! The portion sizes were generous and the ambiance was great.
First visit and it was worth it. The food was really good - the portion sizes were more than enough. The make-up of the plates was good and the service was good as well. Will definitely go there again!
We had a great time. My date was beautiful an we thoroughly enjoyed our food
We had a lovely late lunch on the patio. Everyone really enjoyed their food and wine. They have a great wine and beer list. We had the french dip sandwich which was really stuffed with roast beef and a salad.
This was our first time trying Wine Celler on Saturday for lunch. The food was very good and the portions were generous. Our server was very good and friendly. The hostesss was polite. I would return back to eat this restaurant. I recommend others to come try this place.
Great restaurant any time for lunch or dinner! Menu is varied and there is something for everyone. Cocktails are good and there is a nice wine list. Prices are reasonable considering it is located in Los Gatos, CA. My friend and I ate inside but there are also tables outside perfect for a nice warm day. My friend had never been there and she was very happy with her lunch. She is somewhat handicapped so the chair lift elevator was a big plus. Dress is casual and this is a very comfortable place. Go and enjoy!!
Food was great. Service a bit rushed. Very loud but one could still hold a conversation
We had a wonderful dining experience at the wine Cellar. We ordered the duck and the special Mahi Mahi. The duck was fantastic. My wife had the Mahi Mahi which was a huge portion. Sh loved every bite. The desserts were great as well.
Lunch prices are much more reasonable than the dinner prices, but the food and service is excellent and the portions are large. Patio seating is a nice option also.
The patio is the perfect spot for lunch or dinner on a warm evening. I find the restaurant itself too dark (it's a cellar, duh!), except on cloudy or rainy days when it's OK to not see the outside. I've eaten here a few times before, and always enjoyed the food and service. On this occasion, I had the grilled octopus salad as my dinner entree, and my friend had the asparagus and walnut ravioli. We shared the parmesan truffle fries. Everything was perfectly cooked. The salad was delicious, with meaty chunks of octopus and a light, very tasty dressing. The fries were addictive. The ravioli got rave reviews. The cocktail list is great, but we both drank wine. Our server was gracious and professional. Will definitely return to enjoy the patio again.
The Wine Cellar is presently short staffed so our service was UNUSUALLY SLOW for them.
It was a very busy lunch time but never was our water refilled and I had to ask the two times
my iced tea was replenished. The waiter took a long time to take our order and the food was
slow to arrive and empty plates slow to be picked up.
I hope that Lisa will success in obtaining the staffing that she needs.
We were very impressed with the service and food quality. We will definitely be coming back soon!
Always good! Love the salmon!! Great service with Tim!
The salads are great there. Our server was really good and accommodating. Outside dining is great when the weather permits.
Lovely meal. GREAT service!!
Had the Chicken Marsala - The food was ok.. I prefer others restaurants in the area.
Always consistently good food!
Meet the girlfriend’s parents event. Lovely facility with good seafood options and quality. Service was very slow.
The Wine Cellar is consistently excellent. I have been dining at the Wine Cellar for decades. All my friends enjoy as well.
Atmosphere is great. Service is perfect. Lovely waiters. Price is expensive.
Absolute best seared ahi anywhere. Quiet enough to talk to each other. Nice servers. Continue to visit and will go many more times.
Not as good as previous times
We were shocked, it was so loud we couldn’t even talk. I felt like we were at a football game. Not “most romantic” at all. Had not been in a few years.
Staff was great and the food is good. It can also be VERY loud. My 82 yr old mother couldn't hear a thing. I would find a different place or go at an odd hour if you want to talk.
I was there at lunch time and had salmon and was great.
Service was good.
It was my 2nd time and great.
Service was outstanding and so was the food. We just had to happen to have a very noisy salesman selling his stuff to two clients. Very annoying.
The Wine Cellar is a classic Los Gatos Old Town venue. The ground level sits out on the lovely Old Town Plaza under an airy, tree-covered patio with a more casual feel. Downstairs has that intimate, "old school" charm of a bygone era. Think "Hernando's Hideaway" for you Broadway musical fans. The menu is full of old school and new culinary offerings sure to delight every taste. I've been going here for over 20 years and the food and service is consistently excellent. It's definitely worth a try if you've never gone. If you have, it's probably time to put it back on your list. You won't regret it.

p.s. make reservations...
I have been here before and have been waited by Moses and it was a great experience. This time we had Garfield and I wasn't too impressed. He brought our salads then disappeared usually they offer crushed black pepper. We never got pepper, then he left our plates on our table for a while, usually, they get picked up once you are done. He came by to ask us if we wanted desert then he left for about 10 minutes so we decided to pass. The Waiter can make or break your experience and for us this time it wasn't a good one. Next time we will request Moses.
Asked for a quiet booth in the back when I made the reservation. The restaurant either didn’t get that message, or didn’t care, and I was told it would be an hour and a half before anything like that was available. We did get a booth right next the entrance and the kitchen, which had a lot of noise and obnoxiously bright lighting. The appetizer was bland and pretty bad, so we finished a glass of wine and left. Terrible experience, won’t be returning there.
Another perfect evening at the Wine Cellar! Thank you to Moses for his attention & excellent service!
The crab cakes were moist and tasty. However, the swordfish was dry and tasteless.
I made the reservation & added that it was for our anniversary. We had the salmon and sea bass and both dishes were wonderful. The waiter brought us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary which was really nice. We will definitely go back!
Yes, I would, BUT ONLY because I have had a GREAT experience in the past. Not sure what happened this last time. Went to honor a co-worker who was retiring. Two of us ordered the short ribs, which are usually delicious, tender, juicy. First off, one of the two received a much larger portion of the short ribs. Both dishes were NOT tender or juicy. Very chewy, dry, and definitely not as good as they've been in the past. Our waiter (who by the way, was fabulous) offered some extra sauce (I'm sure he could tell they were dry), the sauce had a "burnt" flavor to it. Very disappointing. The third person in our party had chicken marsala, said it was delicious.
We enjoyed eating at the Wine Cellar on a rainy night. It was warm and inviting inside. Our waiter was friendly and very enthusiastic. He made all the dishes sound delicious.
The one negative aspect to the evening was at the end. We had a 7:00 reservation and by 9:00 the lights over the bar were out and partly dimmed in the entry dining area. Most of the other tables had left, but we would have enjoyed being able to linger over coffee. Once we paid the bill our waiter was no where to be seen. As we left the only person we saw was a kitchen worker. It was obvious they were closed.
My husband and I were on a vacation so, just went by other reviews. We were not disappointed. The food, service and ambiance were outstanding.
Always a great place to dine-Food is always fresh and good, we will be back.
