Wine Cellar Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
On a beautiful day in Los Gatos, this is a very nice restaurant to dine at. Although be aware of some local ladies competing for the outdoor tables. If you don't have a reservation for outside, you can dine inside (which can be good on a rainy day ~ not so common in California) which resembles the title of the restaurant: The Wine Cellar. One local lady mentioned that she had been waiting 25 minutes, while the other lady topped her at putting her name in 60 minutes ago. Who wins? Really ladies? I was looking for cameras from Bravo TV (The Real Housewives of Los Gatos). So anyone who reads this review and you want to dine outside in the beautiful weather, make sure you have reservations! Otherwise, bring a camera and start filming the "cat" fights in Los Gatos! :)
We arrived were seated in a nice booth. Our waiter seemed stressed and unfriendly. I ordered the Shrimp and Avocado Salad as my entree. It was so small hardly a entree size salad, my husband ordered the fish & chips there were 3 very small pieces of fish on top of French fries. We were actually hungry after we left. Totally disappointing lunch.
Delicious Italuan food in a historical building. Homemade pasta and pizza made with fresh produce from Stanford gardens. Lighting could be better to soften the atmosphere. Some fixtures are out of place and are too cold and corporate for an old barn. Other than that, the restaurant is great! Try the desserts and you'll fall in love!
I do not eat beef, pork or creamy dishes so the entrees are limited for me. I usually order a chicken or seafood selection. Unfortunately, each time I've eaten a chicken dish, the salty taste was overwhelming. During this last visit, I traded my chicken dish with my friend because I could not stand the prominent taste of salt. He agreed that my food was overloaded with it. His entree included shrimp in a creamy sauce, so I picked out the shrimp and ate those. In past visits, I've enjoyed the soy glazed salmon, however, I don't want that to be the only entree I order! On this visit, I also had Manhattan Clam Chowder which had very little clam, a few veggies and good tasting broth. My cocktail was excellent as was my Irish Coffee drink after the meal. I really enjoy The Wine Cellar but do recommend the menu to have more variety.
Lose the salt!!
We unfortunately were let down by the fact that the website said one thing and the reality was another. The website menu said most items were gluten free (not true), it said they offered gluten free bread (not true either).
The ribs we ordered were very dry, the tacos cold. We were overall not impressed with the food. The service was just ok, not great.
The quality of the food does not correlate with the prices. We felt the food was overpriced, average or below average quality. We will probably not eat here again.
Food was very tasty,. Good selection of entree salads. Good wine list, reasonably priced. Service was good. We were there at the height of lunch hour and the noise level was borederline difficult. After the crowd thinned out it became much more enjoyable to stay and chat, so we ordered desert - which turned out to be an absolutely yummy apple pie.
We came here because we received a gift certificate. Family of four for a Sunday brunch/lunch. We had no expectations and were pleasantly surprised. The staff and our waiter were super friendly. The food was REALLY good - we ordered the calamari for an appetizer (crispy and cooked perfectly), the shredded BBQ beef sandwich, portobello mushroom sandwich, French dip sandwich and the cellar special (two huge pancakes, eggs and bacon). The sandwiches came with salad and fries (regular or sweet potato). All the food was excellent and the portions were huge. We were totally stuffed. Hubby and I also got some bloody Mary's which were very tasty. We were surprised with our bill, just over $100. Definitely great value considering the quantity and quality of our meal. Would highly recommend it you are ever in the area.
Honestly not very good. Had better expectations for dining out. Waited 75 minutes for. Salad that had nothing that needed to be cooked! French onion soup was burnt. We ended up getting food boxed to go bc it took so long. Waiter was nice and comped our appetizer and didn’t want to take money for a tip. It wasn’t his fault but very disappointed
