This distinctive restaurant is located on Jacksonville's Southbank. With its French Country atmosphere, Wine Cellar is loaded with charm. An outdoor brick paved garden set beneath a majestic oak tree is the perfect place for a romantic luncheon or dinner.
While constantly evolving with eclectic new world dishes, Classic Continental Cuisine excels here. To add regional flavor, local produce and indigenous fresh seafood have become integral elements of the recipes.
Wine Cellar is consistently rated as one of "Florida's Top 500 Restaurants"; as one of "Jacksonville's Top 25 Restaurants" and the wine list perennially wins the "Wine Spectator Award of Excellence".
Our food was not very hot when it came out. The portions were very small for the price. There were plenty of open areas but were seated in the small upper area in the back kind of packed in with other patrons. The server was great. Way better food at Marker 32.
Very expensive but otherwise nice.
Absolutely wonderful night of celebration. The wine was excellent, even for a moderately priced bottle. The almond encrusted grouper was superb as was the fillet mignon and soft shell crab combo.
This is a fantastic restaurant and always exceeds our expectations. We definitely go there for the food and wine quality and presentation. However, the ambiance, setting and attention by staff are also superb.
Wine Cellar is a restaurant that you can ALWAYS depend on. The food is always fresh and delicious. the atmosphere is calm and quieter and the service is always excellent.
It had been a while since we last visited and it was exactly as we remember. Highly recommend.
Perfectly fine lunch with good food and service. Ambience was fine but not great. Very good value overall.
Always excellent. Service was a bit slow tonight and it was noisier than usual. This is my favorite fine dining restaurant and it never disappoints.
Great gourmet dinner before the concert. Excellent service as always! Top notch!
We were greeted promptly and ushered to a quiet table in the back of the restaurant. The waiter was friendly and helpful with recommendations. My guest had the escargot in a saffron sauce (which was probably not her favorite) and I had the bibb lettuce salad with the warm goat cheese (could have used more fruit and less lettuce.) We both ordered the sea bass and it was very tasty. The waiter brought us a lovely piece of cheesecake with cherries baked inside as a birthday surprise. It was a nice evening.
New Year’s Eve. Service was perfect. Meal was delicious.
Another wonderful evening at The Wine Cellar! We enjoyed dinner there on New Year's Eve prior to the Jacksonville Symphony gala and as usual, the restaurant did not disappoint. From food and service to ambience, The Wine Cellar can be counted on to rate superior on all counts.
The waitress was excellant. She was very attentive. Food was delicious. It was a birthday celebration so we were given a nice dessert.
Christmas dinner with family - service was very slow - waited 20 minutes with only butter on the table - not even water - we went to the front to ask if the server was okay - then we got bread -
Food was good but not as great as we’ve experienced before.
Bill was $300 for 5 of us. We don’t mind paying but only because the experience is special.
I hope it was only a bad night.
Service was impersonal and slow. Food was amazing. The restaurant needs a facelift but over-all it’s worth it all, the food was amazing!
Very nice ambiance, great place for a special occasion. The service was outstanding! While the food was good, it wasn't stellar. We will try it again.
Great service and fabulous food...as usual!
Wonderful dining experience! Great ambiance and delicious food and wine!
everything was okay. service was maybe a bit less than okay; the veneer of attentive, courteous service was quite thin. Food was dull.
Very comfortable venue for dining with the small individual rooms pleasantly decorated in a traditional style with very good chairs and non-wobbling tables, and it seemed very clean. Service was excellent from the professional and pleasant lady who had our table. The food was quite good and we had 5 different entrees for 6 people and all were pleased. Not being "big eaters", we can't speak to the appetizers, salads, soups, or desserts offered, but in our party a salad and the chocolate dessert were ordered and declared very good.
We all thought the cocktails were of fairly decent size and the wine serving was sufficiently large, for the prices charged. We all felt a repeat visit was in our future.
Nic was our server, worked for 20 years at the Wine Cellar, was all about our customer service and experience, outstanding. Best Grouper we have ever had and we are from the Gulf Coast, now living in JAX, will be back and by the ways, the mussels and gnocchi with cream mushroom sauce for starters was over the top, for desert, try the bread pudding and usually NEVER eat the whip cream, do so, it's some of the best whip cream, must be home made... We were able to try three wines before choosing a bottle, great choice and VERY happy with everything, we will be back soon for more and more and more. Highly Recommend the Wine Cellar!!
This is a pretty restaurant, but the food was only okay. Also, while it was not very crowded, we were seated next to a large, loud group. We didnt realize it until after we were seated. There were many other tables available. I think the restaurant should have thought about it before seating us.
Lovely table. Kevin was great.
We had escargot, steak, and fish and key lime pie. They were the best ever. We have eaten there many times and every meal is outstanding.
We are not "regulars" but we come occasionally and are consistently pleased. We are on the Wine Cellar e-mail list and were alerted to the special Celebration of the Cuisine of France. We have enjoyed our exposure to French food, and the Prix Fixe event for three courses was very enticing. Without trying to get the French titles with their special accent marks, I'll just say that our shrimp first course was a delight. The Scallops a l'Orange and the Sea Bass as our second courses were excellent. The desserts with cappuccino topped off our evening visit. We appreciated being comfortably filled and not overwhelmed by an excess of food. When friends visit, and we don't want to cook, we bring them to the Wine Cellar.
Best creme brûlée’s we ever had
Food was just OK, overpriced for the food quality’s
My only negative was the entrees were not hot when served. Perhaps heated plates would correct this.
Overall a very good place for dinner. Food, however, was not outstanding Had a piece of filet which was tough and ill prepared. Eighteen percent automatic gratuity is not to my liking. Our waiter was good and prompt. When I saw the automatic tip added I did not go further.
We always look forward to dinner at the Wine Cellar. They have a really good wine list, excellent food, lovely environment...and they are just opposite a Hampton Inn. When we are traveling through Jacksonville it's great to just walk across the street after dinner.
We have been to the Wine Cellar Before. The first time was my wife and I's 2nd date. This time was to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, and we were not disappointed in any way. We will be sure to not make it so long the next time. A great dinner experience!
Delicious meal & excellent service!
Wedding anniversary dinner with great food & service.
Always enjoy our visits to the Wine Cellar. Wayne does an outstanding job
Not our first time there..but always excellent.. Bob was outstanding.
Great place. Good wine. Great food.
Very peaceful atmosphere. Wait staff extremely pleasant. Gary was wonderful. Food was delicious. No wonder it has been around so many years. Will definitely be back!!!
Great service and the place is amazing can’t wait to go again
This is an upscale restaurant with an awesome menu and great service. It's a little pricey, but worth it.
We had a wonderful meal. The food was outstanding and the service quite attentive
