This distinctive restaurant is located on Jacksonville's Southbank. With its French Country atmosphere, Wine Cellar is loaded with charm. An outdoor brick paved garden set beneath a majestic oak tree is the perfect place for a romantic luncheon or dinner.
While constantly evolving with eclectic new world dishes, Classic Continental Cuisine excels here. To add regional flavor, local produce and indigenous fresh seafood have become integral elements of the recipes.
Wine Cellar is consistently rated as one of "Florida's Top 500 Restaurants"; as one of "Jacksonville's Top 25 Restaurants" and the wine list perennially wins the "Wine Spectator Award of Excellence".
Service was great. Very quaint and quiet for a Saturday night. Food was uninspiring and for a place call Wine Cellar, the wine list was an underperformer.
With that said, it could have been an off night, but for the price, I expected more.
Wine Cellar never disappoints. First experienced Wine Cellar 25 years ago. Some old favorites have changed, but still the best in Jax. Tried other restaurants but keep going back to Wine Cellar. Only regret is I don't go more often.
Everything I was looking for...menu, selections, food prep, service, ambiance —all excellent. You can bet I’ll be back.
My wife and I went to the Wine Cellar for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it, again. We have been there several times and have always enjoyed the excellent food and service. We will be back!
Absolutely love Wine Cellar! Would improve customer service!
Food was bland not worth the price
On our wedding anniversary, we again chose the Wine Cellar and were again pleased with the whole experience.

Just as with dinner, lunch at the Wine Cellar is a wonderful treat. The food is delicious and the service is great. I had a favorite of mine “A Trio of Flavors” a tasty sampling of scallop, shrimp and crab.
Went for their 45 year anniversary special, the food was FANTASTIC! Each course was proportioned perfectly and seasoned right. By the time we had dessert we were full, NOT stuffed but pleasantly full. Huge props to the pastry chef! Her banana pudding was Phenomenal! Not too sweet and again portioned just right. Michael our waiter was attentive, funny and helpful. Give the man a raise! The only thing I would request if it's possible to have a wine suggestion for each course. Otherwise you will have a wonderful time from start to finish. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I have been here several times. I'm never disappointed. Food and service is great.
Four of us went to Wine cellar for dinner before attending a jazz concert at The Ritz. Wayne provided exceptional service throughout. We all opted for the 45th anniversary 4 course prix fixe menu. Three had the avocado vichyssoise and the fourth had field greens to start. For the second course, two had the stuffed crab and the other two selected the ship tuna with ginger. Entrees selected were sirloin (3) and snapper with shrimp (1). Finally, three of us had the chocolate mousse pie while the fourth had the banana pudding for dessert. We brought a couple of bottles of wine from home to complement the meal. Corkage fee of $17 per bottle is reasonable. Everything met our very high expectations. Wine Cellar is one of the oldest locally owned restaurants in Jacksonville and our experience has always been outstanding. We highly recommend it.
Everything was excellent! I don’t really care for the raccoons. Fortunately, we had finished our meal, but they don’t add to the ambiance.
Food would have been a 5 but I felt the mash potatoes were on the bland side, absolutely everything else was incredible! Wayne was our server he recommended a great wine for us, great communication with us. Would absolutely recommend to friends and family, it edges out Orsay in my book.
We always thoroughly enjoy dining at the Wine Cellar. Have been going for many years. and this time, I even saw a friend of mine who was also dining there. See, good food, good friends. What more could one ask for?
Has been a favorite for 30 years. Food is consistently very good, often exceptional. Not a budget location, but prices are appropriate for quality so the value equation is good. Easy to have a private conversation without the distraction of televisions and without crowding of tables.
It is one of my favorite restaurants. Interesting, quality food and service.
The food as always was great. The ambiance and seating was exactly right for the occasion. Our server Wayne was fantastic. Our go to place to celebrate milestones.
My monthly lunch treat when I'm downtown. A local gem, with long time staff. The menu variety is fantastic and always featuring local, fresh, in season specials. Extensive Wine selection and Full Bar.
Tip is included, which to me assures great service.
Good food, * Good ambiance,* Good Staff, *Good Service an easy 4 Star plus
Overall great ambiance. Food was average, service about what I would expect though our server was not very knowledgeable about wine. The wine list itself is adequate but certainly not befitting of the restaurant name. I’d say if you are looking for a good place for a date and/or to converse with friends, it’s great.
Wine cellar is always excellent. Service outstanding. Menu choices always good and food always good. Would recommend to anyone wanting to go to a first class restaurant
First time dining in this establishment. The food and service was outstanding(lamb chops, scallops, sea bass) however there was thing in particular that killed the mood. The restaurant is quaint in the best ways but very very quiet. The tables are close to each other and it wasn’t a full house this particular Saturday night. They sat the few tables they had next to each other instead of spacing us out a little and giving each party some privacy. I felt that I couldn’t speak openly to my guest dining with me and this was suppose to be our special date night. Also for our party of two gratuity was added to the bill, found this unusual and tacky. Our server missed out on extra tip because of this.
Wayne is the best overall.
Love dining at Wine Cellar
The food was outstanding, the ambiance quiet and cordial, the service efficient and not hovering. All together, dining at The Wine Cellar was exceptional.
I had eaten at the Wine Cellar years ago and liked the proximity to the Hotel where I was staying. At that time I remember the food and value being very good. This visit was a disappointment. Although the restaurant was still quaint that was about the extent of it. The wine list was never really extensive nor imaginative but I could always find a higher end Cabernet that was drinkable. When I ordered a bottle of a mid to higher range 2014 Cabernet that they had on their list the server came out with a 2015. When I pointed that out to her and asked her if she could check if the listed vintage she mentioned there was only one other bottle and it was also a 2015. She added that they reserve the right to list one year and serve another. I know this happens in restaurants all the time but wine would seem to be their thing and they should have more than 2 bottles of a popular cab. The service was fine and the dishes and silverware seemed clean enough but the food was not good. I had the Duck special and it was crusted and dry and certainly not worth the money. My dinner companions were not overwhelmed with the quality of their entrees either. Dessert was fine, the check came and there was an automatic gratuity added (for a table of 4) of 18%. Now they do post this ahead of time but I always find it a bit strange when a restaurant does this that is not in a tourist area or at the airport. As a courtesy I would have given a 20% tip to the server as she doesn't make the rules or cook the food but I left it at 18%. As we existed I noticed the big "Help Wanted" sign outside. That explained it all. GMAN
My only disappointment iafter an amazing meal is that a restaurant named after wine didn’t offer Sauvignon Blanca from the Marlboro region-the region producing the best sav blancs. Food was amazing!!!
As usual, The Wine Cellar was excellent and met all expectations. The 3 of us ladies have been there many times, usually with our spouses. Everything is as good for lunch as for dinner. One of the best restaurants in the Jacksonville area.
Had a fabulous dinner with family night before Easter. Food, wine, drinks, service and ambiance were awesome as always. Wine Cellar is my favorite restaurant in Jacksonville!
Unfortunately next to a loud table. Great service as usual. Wonderful lamb, steaks were quite salty.
Food was not as good as usual. Beef was not as tender. Service from Kay was excellent.
We were late due to a travel issue and they welcomed us in despite the fact that it was busy. We frequently enjoy lunch there when downtown/ San Marco area. We know we can count on a nice time.
Awesome as always.
The Wine Cellar is a classic restaurant in Jacksonville. it never disappoints me and the food and service are always wonderful. I brought out of town guests there and they loved it.
Everything was fantastic! Can’t wait to travel to Jacksonville again for dinner. We’ve added this restaurant to our list of “favorites”!
Great staff, really good food and drink!
Food was excellent!
Our waiter, Wayne, was outstanding!! He was extremely knowledgeable about the wine list and menu and guided us to great selections. The restaurant was beautiful!! Definitely a place to revisit in the near future. Amazing food and impeccable service!!
Long time customer and the Wine Cellar has been consistently one of the best restaurants in Jax. for a long time. They have never disappointed us or any of our guests. A very safe bet for good food and a fine dining experience.
Really, this is one of Jacksonville’s underrated treasures. Professional service and delicious food. Can hold a conversation without yelling.
Food, service, Wayne...all fabulous
