We had a great time and it was overall a great experience. I reserved for 9 people and two kids and the table was prepared for only 7 adults and the server instructed us to pull the chair from another table. We had to wait for about 10 minutes for children highchair. And overall the staff was very slow with the drinks and tried to charge us extra for drinks she never served us.
But the buffet staff was amazing and friendly and explained well to us.
I wish Windows on MN was open to the public all the time. Had Mother’s Day Brunch here (only open on special occasions), and it featured an amazing view from the 50th Floor of the IDS and multiple buffets with a very high class atmosphere.
Off putting from the get go.
The greeter was checking paperwork and seemed to be confused about seating we waited 5 to 10 min while he dinked around. Once he took our name / found our reservation he sent us to be seated. Our seats were taken and we had to wait back in the lobby. It took another 10-15 min to get seated. We tried to get a drink at the bar while we waited but they said they could not serve us. We would have to wait for a server once we got seated. Live jazz was cool in the lobby however the sound system in the dinning area only picked up the base player. It sounded bad. The set up seemed like kind of a numbers game, see how many cattle you could get to the feed and move them on out. It was not a place to relax and enjoy the moment. None of us even tried to wait in the long line for eggs/ omelets. Maybe they were supper good.
Special Mother's Day occasion was tainted.
Tip was included on our bill so we had no way to express our aggravation. Kind of a jerk move to include a tip on the bill, and it was a buffet.
The guy cutting roast beef was super nice.
Views were good.
Looks like it would be a nice event center if you had a good crew working.
Very nice for Mothers Day brunch. Service was slow & servers seemed disorganized. Food was ver good, only recommendation is if you are serving Belgian Waffles you may want to have more than 1 waffle iron assigned to the area. Other than that problem we had a very pleasurable meal. Desserts were very good.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch, buffet was very good. There were a lot of choices, and all tasted great. Live jazz music was nice.
It was awful. They didn’t clean up the buffet line, there was spilled food everywhere. The serving spoons were not switched out, so they were caked with food. We had a bus station right next to our table that was never cleared.
We attended the Easter Day Brunch - we had reservations, but when we arrived we were told that they would "try to find us a table." I had previously received an email and phone call reminding me of my reservation, so do not understand why they didn't have a table for us.
The breakfast food was mediocre at best. They ran out of bacon and, after a while, partially re-filled it with burnt bacon. The eggs had a chalky taste, as did the risotto. They didn't seem to be able to keep up with refilling the food trays.
At the dessert table, there were to be a number of cheesecakes and a carrot cake, but this was fairly picked over as well. I waited for a cheesecake, and it was still frozen so it tasted like ice cream.
Overall, we were very disappointed - from the time we arrived and they didn't have a table to us and through out the meal. The only good note was that the server at our table was hospitable and friendly - and the view was wonderful.
We have gone to Windows on Minnesota many times in the past, including for Easter and Mother's Day. I'm guessing that the restaurant has new management. We will not return. For $39/each, we left less than full.
We were here for the Easter Brunch Buffet, so I can't comment on the full menu or a normal dining experience. The most striking thing about Windows Over Minnesota is of course the incredible view from the floor to ceiling windows that make up most of the walls. Everything I sampled at the Easter Brunch was excellent with the exception of the mushroom risotto, which I thought was bland and little too sticky. The live jazz ensemble made the dining more festive, but was not too loud for easy conversation. I would have to say the table service was quite slow, but this was a buffet, so I can't judge what it might be otherwise. I thought the price was fairly reasonable ($39 per person, including tip) as far as upscale holiday buffets go. Several other places I checked into were in the $50-60 range.
Because the brunch buffet entrees were offered in large, self-serve containers, the temperature of many were cool, not hot.
Also, as a vegetarian who is allergic to foods in the onion family, there were few entree options for me, leaving me to eat just cold vegetables, cheese, and pastries. Meat-eaters had many options.
The views from the top of the IDS Building, however, made the visit worthwhile.
I would have given service a zero star. We 3 couples were charged a mandatory 20% gratuity. Our drinks were wrong, we bussed our own tables and we were never offered more water.
Perfect Easter brunch. We've been to Windows on Minnesota many times for Thanksgiving buffet, but this brunch was a first. It was lavish and delicious and the ambiance is elegant with awe-inspiring views. The service was a bit wanting, but we loved the incredible range of choices from breakfast to salads and charcuterie to hot dinner options including ham, lamb, and roast beef. The desserts were excellent as well.
A fabulous venue for Easter Sunday brunch. The view was spectacular, the assortment and great variety of dishes allowed even the most fussy eater to find plenty of food to enjoy. Lots of fruits and vegetable dishes, desserts were yummy. The staff were particularly friendly, warm, helpful and genuinely glad to help make the experience great for our group. This was a particularly fun venue for the little kids who all got their faces beautifully painted by a talented young woman. Live music by a good jazz combo added to this delightful time.
Easter brunch was made to be a memorable experience mainly because of the service, food, all the staff and ambiance of the venue!
I wish this restaurant was open in the evenings for dinner! The food was outstanding, the service wonderful and the servers were cheerful. The views, though it is still not quite spring were great. I want to go back. We were there for Easter brunch and will return for Mother's Day.
