Wilson Hardware Kitchen & Bar
Wilson Hardware is a multi-level contemporary American restaurant.
Our restaurant experience combines new concepts in food, beverage, entertainment and ambience. The spacious venue allows for several individual experiences in a variety of indoor and outdoor areas, including a rooftop bar and an outdoor patio.
Typical Clarendon bar/pub. Solid but nothing special.
Though the booth was comfortable and limited the noise, it was too loud. Was service stretched thin? It seemed less than attentive though quick once you made the order. The dishes shared were OK, but those who ate the scallops liked them best.
The food was fine, nothing special. Very loud and very slow service. Waited almost half an hour before someone came to take order, half an hour to get bill during normal dinner hours
Fun decor and vibe. Should have stuck to “bar food” instead of seafood and salad. Drinks were very sugary. Switched to wine/beer after the first drink. Would recommend a stop in for 1 drink only.
Enjoyed the bottomless brunch and inexpensive yet delicious mimosa carafes! What an awesome find- celebrated a 50th birthday but will be back soon. The wait staff was also amazing. The small plates were served family style with the bottomless plate option and everything we tried was fantastic- some favorites were fried chicken on a waffle, brioche French toast, the salmon and egg dishes.
Based on reviews, I had high expectations for Wilson Hardware. From start to finish there was need for improvement. There was at the host station upon arrival. Several staff saw me standing waiting and made no effort to see if I needed help. I made a dinner reservation but was seated at one of the hightops in the bar area.. i found this to be odd given there was plenty of available space in the restaurant. It was loud and hard to carry on a conversation in that area. Our server was polite but we were clearly just a number not a guest. We had to go in search of the serves in order to get our bill. Food.... I'd caution people to expect nothing spectacular. There was nothing memorable about the food. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't outstanding and nothing I can't find at any number of Arlington restaurants. I don't see going back or recommending this place for food. I might suggest it for drinks... Might.
The staff was accommodating in helping us get a quiet table. The brussel sprouts are always great and the steak frites was prepared perfectly. The menu is reasonably priced so it's one of our regular spots. I wish they would add fish tacos to the menu!
Great food, great service, great drinks and great fun! My friends and I had an amazing time celebrating my birthday. Would definitely recommend this place to others!
Its a really cool, chill place to hang out with friends, and enjoy food and drinks.
Obviously brunch was busy which is totally understandable, but things like plates when you're a group of 8 is really important. We always needed utensils or plates or an order taken. The value is there for sure though! Food was great
The purple lighting over our table hurt my eyes and distorted the color of the food. So bizarre. Why would you do that in a restaurant? The food was good, but I’d have enjoyed it much more without that lighting. I can’t say I’d go back, or recommend it to others.
Food and drinks are stellar. Service was great. Highly recommend
The food was very good. The service was quite slow, as one server was responsible for an entire room. Very noisy, which didn't bother me, but might matter if you're looking for a quiet dinner.
Great food and drinks, great service, and fun atmosphere.
The table they have reserved for OpenTable is right by the door and can be very cold when the door is constantly opening.
The burgers and cauliflower were the hits. Overall better than expected.
Try not to go there if you are over 30. Definitely don’t go on a date there.
Terrible service. Didn't bring our appetizers. Someone had already puked in the ladies room by 9 p.m. I am embarrassed that I picked this place for my party of 8.
Out with the wife for a brief night out with babysitter at home. I didnt want a sports bar but it appeared to be so? Also we both enjoy craft beer, this did not have that. Instead we got pricy cocktails, spent $100 when we could have saved our money and spent half that somewhere else.
Our 2 top tall table was super wobbly.
The crab dip appetizer was really good.
The burger that I had was amazing. Her stuffed chicken was good but seemed like gourmet catered food vs. freshly made.
Really I just dont understand why it was such an expensive dinner when it seemed more like a sports bar. If I am going to spend $100 on dinner I would go to Mad Fox / Rustico / etc. not this place. I guess maybe it would have been better at happy hour prices?
If you advertise that dinner service starts at 3PM, then the waiter shouldn't have to start with a disclaimer that the kitchen is transitioning from brunch to dinner, so food orders will be delayed. Either the kitchen is ready or it's not. Sure enough, it took 35 minutes for a duck confit and a vegan medley salad to arrive, but I suppose we had been warned; so that's not really my complaint...
My real complaint is with their arrogance to charge $24 for a duck confit that is just a handful of mashed potato and 2 tablespoons of duck scraps, or $17 for salad that is no bigger than a side salad. We both left hungry and had to eat again an hour later.
Honestly, I was so excited to try Saturday brunch out, the resurtant looked so cute and it got great ratings.
The day started off by being seated upstairs, I was slightly disappointed, we were the only table taken upstairs when all of the action was down by the main bar so we were kinda feeling left out of the action.
Then menu had some great options, we were excited for the 36 dollars bottomless brunch (drinks not included) and each put our orders in
Server Issues - Now, not only did our sever miss some orders (which at the time no big deal we figured we'd order them again) but our server didn't come back for like an hour. Not to check on us, not to refill our waters, so here we were 2:45 and brunch ended at 3, having to get up and track our waiter down.
So he takes our next round of orders (and what do you know he forgot items or missed them idk but we didn't get what we asked for and then he disappeared for like another hour, we hunted him down for the bills and of course they were incorrect!) to forget about a table of 5 who is seated in a section all by them selves is not a great experience.
Food - I'm sorry but he brunch wasn't worth 36 dollars. The menu is actually great but the food is executed poorly. A lot of our food came out burnt, omelets were flavorless, one friend order cauliflower half of the dish was burnt and then we found broccoli pieces in it...The Chix& Waffs were grea but you get a piece of chix the size of your thumb, it doesn't even cover the whole waffle.
Management - the worst part about our experience is the manager was aware of what was happening and not once came and talked to us, asked us if we were ok or for feedback. When one of my friends had to go adjust the bill she spoke to the manager and he took a couple dollars off but that's not what we were looking for, it would have been nice for them to come and just apologize or check in after realizing what was happening.
I often pick WH for a quick drink with friends. It gets busy during the week but the drinks are reliably good, and it’s one of my favorite happy hour spots!
Menu is nothing original but everything well prepared and happy hour was a good value. Good service.
I will definitely go back to Wilson Hardware—everything was very good. They were able to accommodate my rather strict Whole 30 diet and did it graciously. Fun place!
Great cocktails and very attentive service. It was a first date, so we just had drinks, but the food smelled great!
The food was excellent, but it was so noisy we had trouble hearing one another. It was especially bad because they had games playing on big screen TVs, and fans were screaming right by our table. In sum, this is not a date night place, but if you don’t mind the noise level, you’ll love the food.
We enjoyed our time there and Julian was our favorite
I rated this place low on atmosphere, because after 9:30 p.m. it turns into a nightclub—not my vibe at all. Prior to this, it was a good vibe. But the food was great (especially the roasted mushroom appetizer and an awesome combination of gluten-free, vegetarian, and paleo options that are also normal food for people without dietary restrictions), the cocktails were top notch (I 100% recommend the Screw Him), and all the employees were extremely friendly. I'd come here again for brunch, lunch, or happy hour—the nightclub scene just isn't my jam.
We took our twenty-year old sons here for a new year day celebration. Everyone was impressed with the setting, service and food. We met the owner, Jad, who checked in on us a couple of times. Highly recommend this place. Do not be fooled by the exterior. It is much larger than it appears. Cool modern architect - space fairly open, with a roof top bar.
We were so disappointed. The music was so loud. The tables upstairs didn’t allow passage of servers to our table. One order was forgotten because the waiter didn’t write down our orders. The forgotten burger was delivered 15 minutes after everyone else’s and it was delivered plain, not at all what was requested. The burger appeared on our bill. We were so hoping this would be a good addition to the Clarendon restaurant scene, but it is another hugely missed opportunity.
Everything was Great. The food was very good and the service was wonderful.
Not great. Overpriced. Mediocre food. Lots of empty tables
Sunday Brunch was delicious, excellent menu selection with bottomless options. Our server was very attentive and gave us great recommendations. I give Wilson Hardware a 5 star all across the board and will definitely be back soon.
VERY, very, very loud. If you want to have a conversation, this is not the place. We had a group of ten that sat upstairs. Service was pretty good considering how far everyone had to go to deliver it. Small plates at breakfast are a fun idea. Many plates were good or even better. My egg was overcooked when i asked for it to be lightly poached (for eggs benedict). Wasn't worth sending the poor server back to fetch a new one. Would like to try sitting downstairs during a slow time.
Atmosphere was great and I really liked the layout. Drinks were very good but the food was decent. Probably wouldn’t eat there again.
Came for brunch with some friends. Loved the small plates, bottomless brunch, and mimosas. Been here a twice now... first for Happy Hour (really enjoyed it), then brunch (very pleased). We have dinner reservations for New Year’s Eve dinner and tickets for the party that night. Quickly becoming our go to spot in Clarendon.
Good food. Good atmosphere
Food was outstanding. Service was slower than we wanted but mostly everything was right. The only complaint I have is that we could seat 8 of us in the main room and not upstairs in the side room.
Decent restaurant, gets pretty crowded. I would encourage making reservations. Also, Bacon Mac n cheese has garlic in it which it doesn’t specify on the menu. Good thing I like garlic.
