Always amazed at the quality and creativity of the meal. The amount of attention to detail shines through in the individual dishes as well as the variety of beverages paired. This continues to be at the top of our best restaurants in Portland list.
One of the most amazing dining experiences I have had. Willow deserves more than 5 stars.
Been to Willow several times and it never disappoint. Service is great and food is amazing.
You can’t miss this place. It’s more edible art gallery taste bud thrill ride than restaurant.
Best food I've ever eaten in Portland, hands down! Personal touch, small seating, intimate and amazing!
John and Doug are some of the best there are. They bring a quality to the restaurant service that is unmatched in both food, service, and personality. The best part is they do it all themselves. I couldn't recommend them more to anyone I talk to as I am always singing their praises.
Fantastic 6 course meal. Every course was creative and delicious. Courses were all the perfect size. My friends and I took all 10 seats and the chef’s bar (all the seats in the restaurant) and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Highly recommended.
Yes! It was a lovely experience. They were both very gracious; their food was flavorful and thoughtful. We choose the non-alcoholic pairing which were very elaborate and delicious. Everything exceeded our expectations. Thank you for a lovely experience.
Possibly the best dining experience I've ever had. Such a great model for a restaurant.
This is an amazing meal, especially when considering the price. We will be back in the next few months! See you there!
Incredible food in an intimate, friendly space
Exceeds expectations across the board! We're returning customers and will continue to dine at Willow in the future. Amazing place!
Five Star eating in PDX.
Small cozy ambience. Cordial host. Good food, good wine.
Willow was an awesome experience! John and Doug were very professional and informative about the dishes that they were cooking, plating, and serving. They recommended drink pairings which each plate and the dishes were both beautiful and delicious. Most had an interesting twist that transformed each dish and made it special. Highly recommend! Oh also we were stuffed on our way out, which was a pleasant surprise since we thought the advertised "tasting menu" might not fill us up... But there is plenty of food!
Return trip to confirm results from our initial impression. This visit did not disappoint. It lived up to expectations on every front. We definitely will keep Willow on the short list of best/favorite spots in Portland.
The food/wine pairing here is AMAZING! I practically weep knowing that my own household will never be able to prepare food with such beautiful yet simple complexity. The food was wonderful, so well considered and created. So many things to mention, yet I'll just say the pork could be cut with a knife. The wine pourings were also creative and well considered, AND they offer a Beer and non-alcoholic option!
The ambiance is wonderful and intimate. The whole seating at the bar lent itself to watching a great show of the plating and serving of the food, and interesting conversations and observations with the other guests.
I felt so welcome at the beginning and satisfied at the end. I recommend to ALL.
What a fantastic experience! Our meal at Willow went even beyond our expectations. John and Doug the chefs, were excellent hosts, and we enjoyed how each course, paired with either a wine menu, beer menu or non-alcoholic menu, were thoughtfully described, and explained. You sit at a curved counter with only 10 diners total. It's an evening of gastronomic delights, interesting conversations and new discoveries. Much thought is put into the taste, texture and combinations of each plate, including the beverage pairings and you can sit back and relax as you are in really good hands! Portions were generous as well as delicious, and we left very full and happy! We will most certainly be back - it's a very special place. We highly recommend it.
Great place for any occasion or special occasions. Wonderful service, food and chefs!
2nd time there and all around great experience. I tell everyone about this place.
Amazing, amazing, one of a kind, amazing!
John and Doug are wonderful hosts. This was such a treat! There are only two, ten-person seatings a night, so get your reservations early. You won't be disappointed!
Every dish that we tried was really amazing! It’s very apparent that they are very meticulous when coming up with the menu. The price point is very affordable for what you get!
Willow was amazing. The food was out of this world, and the service was top notch. We are already planning our next trip to Willow.
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at! Be sure to book ahead, difficult to get into but well worth the wait. It’s a dining experience!!!
always such a unique and incredible experience, john & doug put so much thought into every detail. highly recommend!
What a delightful experience. Beautifully prepared and presented dishes, all exciting and exceptional. The wine paring was equally good. I can't wait to come back.
One of the better dining experiences I've ever had! The food, wine, and delivery was amazing. The fixed price is a steal for what you get. Only improvement that could be made is it did get a little warm as it was a hot day and mid meal cooking heat. Eventually the fans and AC were able to keep up but other than installing a new HVAC system in the old house they have a pretty good set up that kept a good temperature for the majority of the meal. Looking forward to coming back again and again.
Willow is one of my favorite restaurants! They never disappoint! The knowledge and experience they have with food cannot be beat. Thanks John and Doug for another spectacular Meal!
Great place for a special dinner! Some of the most interesting dishes we've ever tasted... My wife's favorite course was the corn chowder while mine was the melon & cucumber (Aug 2019 menu). Plus the pan roasted chicken may have been the best non-fried chicken I've ever had!!! Will definitely recommend to family and friends.
Delicious and innovative six course meal served counter top by owners/chefs in a Eastside house. Ten persons per each of the two seatings. Summer menu centered on vegetables and fruit with poke and chicken as the main protein course. The combination of ingredients are original and one can taste different flavors at different corners of the plate. Non alcoholic pairings are especially ingenious with various flavors for distinct dishes. Service is fun and informative with friendly ambiance. Price is so reasonable one can hardly believe how good the dinner is for that amount. They also charge menu every month, definitely warrants rerun visits.
Fantastic and intimate evening. Loved hearing the description and backstory of each dish and the decision with each pairing. A truly unique experience that I would recommend to anyone - a foodie or not!
Always a pleasure to dine here. The attention to detail in all facets of the Willow dining experience is top notch. The food is spectacular, as are the drink pairings.
The oyster mushrooms! So divine. I hope they make a reappearance.
Had a terrific experience at Willow. The food was delicious, and the owners John and Doug provided excellent service. I'm a vegetarian and they easily accommodated me. This was a great way to enjoy a tasting menu in Portland for a reasonable price that went above and beyond our expectations.
A great evening celebrating our anniversary. John and Doug go out of their way to make it memorable. The food was thoughtfully prepared with so many incredible layers of flavor. The wine pairings were equally well conceived. We will be back! My only negative comments would be around ambience- it was a bit too warm and they need to figure out a way to control the temperature in the eating area - no easy task given the age and structure of the building. As well, some of the music choices were not to my liking. In such an intimate setting where you want the focus to be on the food and the diners’ experience with it, the music should be background at best. But I repeat- we will be back and hope to bring friends!
One of the best in Portland. If only reservations were easier to get but when they only seat 10 a seat at the table is a valuable thing. Definitely will go back
