John and Doug prepared and served some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. From the mushroom broth starter to the final plate of pudding, my partner and I were both impressed and delighted. The #2 Combo may be my favorite dish of the night but the Steelhead is right up there. I’m gluten free and they modified the dishes with gluten in a way that enhanced the dish rather than just removing the gluten element. Their attention to detail and love of food and drink really shows. The wines were fabulous, but next time I go I will get the non-alcoholic pairings. They spend so much time and energy making every drink and I found myself wanting to try every single one. We can’t wait to go back!

An experience like no other. The only similar in the area might be EVOO or a cooking class type setting. Diners are seated around a counter, each course is described in detail, along with drink pairings. Menu changes monthly.

What a wonderful and unique dining experience. Ten people are the most served at each setting. The service is impeccable. The atmosphere is intimate and relaxed. Best food I have had in Portland. John and Doug provided an unusual combination of food and flavors that were phenomenal. Also, beverage pairings enhance the flavor of the dishes. I hope to return to Willow next time I am in Portland.

Amazing experience at this surprising place. You will feel like at home, eating and sharing this experience with others guests. The level of details on the food, the wine and the storytelling is something you wont find anywhere in Portland (or that I know at least).

A+

Best restaurant in Portland. Two chefs run the entire restaurant, from creating the menu and perfect drink pairings to preparing the entire meal. This is a gem of a dining experience with the chefs giving interesting information for all the courses and drinks. Highly recommend.

This is an intimate private dining venue that sits above a cafe in a converted home. Bar seating fits about 10 people, and a fresh 6-course meal with wine or beer pairings is served with detailed explanations of what you’re eating, where it was sourced, and how ingredients and beverage complement one another. Everything we had was exquisite! I highly recommend for an original, memorable dining experience. It doesn’t come cheap of course (with the pairings) but you 100% get your money’s worth and more in my opinion. John was so knowledgeable, we really enjoyed talking with him. Every bite was a flavor explosion. And the pairings were so on point!

What a thoughtfully curated meal it was! Every single element of the evening, from the music to the wine to the food to the culinary narration that accompanied each course — perfection. We will be back!

Bonus: they were incredibly attentive and responsive to my food allergies. A modification was made to each dish so that I could equally enjoy my food alongside the other diners. And it was done with such subtly so that I didn’t have to be embarrassed. A refreshing thing in Portland (this is not often my experience.)

Willow is an absolute delight every time we go. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Intimate setting. Incredible food, from preparation to presentation to taste. Plus you are walked through the origins of each dish and what inspired their creation. Like I said, a wonderful evening every time. You truly must go!

Amazing seasonal menu. The chefs put together an intimate atmosphere and explained each course with care. The beverage pairings were well thought out, including non-alcoholic options. The six course menu was delicious and cohesive. Everyone in our party was thoroughly impressed. Definitely a unique experience and well worth the wait. Get reservations well in advance.

This is my second visit to Willow, and believe me, they didn’t disappoint. From the amazing cozy feel to the off the charts food and drink pairings, this is mine and my foodie family’s favorite place to enjoy dinner. We have spent two to three times the amount of money on tasting menus, no one holds a candle to Willow. It is truly a must go.

Such an amazing experience. It's exactly like going to your friend's house for dinner.... except the friends are talented chefs. I have so much respect for these guys. They create the recipes. They shop for the food. They prep and cook. They plate beautifully and serve graciously. This is an essential place for any foodie who finds themselves in Portland. I know... there's a lot of good food in Portland but I absolutely adored this place. Willow also offers two different types of wine pairings. Both pairings were delicious and thoughtfully curated. Two sittings are available on the nights they are open.... 12 people max. Can't wait to come back!

My wife and I have been eating at Willow since around the time they first opened. John and Doug have created a very unique dinning experience that feels more like you are at a dinner party than you are a restaurant. The menu is always exceptional, with interesting takes on classic dishes. Seriously, you've wasted enough time reading this review. Just make the reservation already.

Booked a reservation for my sister and her boyfriend for an early Christmas gift. They had a phenomenal time! My sister, a notoriously picky eater, was able to enjoy the entire menu with great enthusiasm (even brussels sprouts!!). I was shocked. Can’t say enough good things about the chefs and their creativity.

We've gone here several times and have always been blown away. Our favorite restaurant in Portland and we've been to all of them. It's not dinner, it's an experience. The food is to-die-for and so creative and complex (in a good way!) We brought a vegetarian here, unsure if the experience would be as good for them, and they went above and beyond to accommodate. She loved it. I saw them accommodate several others with varied diet restrictions with grace and ease. They never skip a beat. It is a 10 or so seat chef's counter experience and the 2 chefs that do it all make it feel very personal and show a lot of care for the guests. They really do care if you enjoy it and how they can always make it better.
