We've gone here several times and have always been blown away. Our favorite restaurant in Portland and we've been to all of them. It's not dinner, it's an experience. The food is to-die-for and so creative and complex (in a good way!) We brought a vegetarian here, unsure if the experience would be as good for them, and they went above and beyond to accommodate. She loved it. I saw them accommodate several others with varied diet restrictions with grace and ease. They never skip a beat. It is a 10 or so seat chef's counter experience and the 2 chefs that do it all make it feel very personal and show a lot of care for the guests. They really do care if you enjoy it and how they can always make it better.

Amazing experience. The food was fantastic. I loved how John talked about the food and seemed genuinely interested in how each diner felt about each dish. Every dish was beautiful to look at, experience and taste.

Outstanding service and music selection. Beautiful atmosphere and lighting. The roast beef on December’s menu is to die for! It made me giggle and I didn’t want the experience to end. Priceless!

Spectacular as always...my 5th time in a year. I want to taste each menu when it changes so I'll have to get there even more often next year! This time I bacame envious of my friend's vegetarian meal; may have to go that route one time.

One of the most unique dining experiences I have ever had. The food was creative and absolutely delicious. John & Doug do a great job of teaching you about the food & wine you are having and answer any questions you might have. It's just a really cool experience to learn so much during a meal. We loved it and will definitely be back!

My husband and I are fairly well-traveled foodies who’ve dined at several Michelin-starred restaurants. Please believe me when I say that Willow could easily best many of them, and at a more affordable price! Chefs John and Doug run the entire establishment themselves — food, service, everything — and create a fun, intimate dining experience for only 10 diners per service.

Their flavor pairings are incredibly creative and thoughtful, and perhaps the best part of the experience is talking to the chefs and learning about how they make their delicious dishes as the evening progresses. What’s more, with advance notice they’ve kindly accommodated our dietary restrictions (I’m a pescatarian and my husband has a seafood allergy). I love the vegetable-forward, highly seasonal and whimsical dishes; it’s always a culinary adventure dining here.

Portland is a true foodie paradise, but even with the super high standards of this city, Willow is the absolute top in my book. Bravo!

Every 3 months for the past 5 years, our group of 8 couples that we've dubbed 'dinner club', meet at a PDX eatery to enjoy a dining experience, and each other's company. Among our 8 'foodie' friends, there is a food and nutrition graduate, and a former cooking show host. So one could say it's a 'tough crowd. After our unique and incredibly tasty dining experience at Willow, it was unanimous that Willow was one of our favorites over the past 5 years! The flavors and textures of each course were unique, exciting and comforting all at the same time. The cocktail and wine pairings were perfect. The atmosphere was professional yet cozy and unpretentious. We loved every moment of our 'dinner club' experience. The attention to details that Doug and John give during each of the 6 courses is nothing short of miraculous considering the entire evening experience consists of just the two of them. Another unanimous decision agreed upon by all 8 of us .... we'll definitely return many times over!

Incredible meal created by the small, 2 man, staffed Willow. The knowledge of wine, ingredients, and even the history of the building exceeded all expectations. The 11 seat bar made for an intimate setting and I hope they continue on in the small setting. Also, kinda like how dimly lit the restaurant was; I despise people taking pictures of their food and the lighting made for poor pictures. Would return.

A small venue experience, this place really focused on the menu. The food they serve is rotated out every 4 weeks and each plate is specially made from scratch. John and Doug do a great job of pairing plates to themes along with the drinks to the plates. You will need a reservation so be sure to schedule weeks to months in advance. I enjoyed my time there and would like to try another menu in the future!

AMAZING experience! The food was outstanding. Value was fantastic. All dishes were ample in size, but we loved that at the end of the evening we didn't feel so full we were uncomfortable.

The after dinner coffee offering allowed all guest to mingle and expand on their experience which added a really unique appreciation to the evening.

This was our first time dinning at Willow and it took us 2 hours to get home to book our next reservation.
Only downside to this glowing review is it will become even more challenging to share the evening with these two amazing visionaries.

This was quite possibly the best dinner we've ever had! The food was amazing - we couldn't stop talking about it for the rest of the weekend. John was so engaging and informative, telling us all about the food and drink pairings. The space was intimate and cozy and it was nice to only have a few other diners with us (seats 10 total). The dinner experience all around was amazing and we would go back in a heartbeat.

Really excellent 6 course, fixed price dinner, with changing menu based on seasonal themes. It is an impressive accomplishment that two terrific chefs create, prepare, plate and serve the entire meal with perfect and imaginative pairings (wine, beer or non-alcoholic). Each course is explained in detail including the inspiration for the dish, unique ingredients, cooking techniques - down to the temperature for sous vide items. The pairings are described in terms of complementary flavor profiles and the special attention to preparing non-alcoholic pairings is, I think, a completely novel approach.
Simply put, the flavors were wonderful, the menu dishes were cohesive and complementary and the experience was first rate.i will definitely be back.
Oh, and it is possibly one of the best values in great dining in Portland.
