Ordered sea bass and it was under cooked.
Loved it all but the tables are a little to close together we were six, and the table was too small for all the plates etc
It was my birthday dinner choice of restaurant since the hotel had just opened and we hadn't been to the new spot. Saw our fav GM from another restaurant, Keith, is here now and he took excellent care of us. Got a quite booth up front in the see and be seen area and had a chef and Keith hovering to take care of us all evening. Then we walked over to the H-town Bar for a night cap. Loves that bar too. Overall an excellent birthday evening.
Hostess initially tried to seat us for dinner in bar. Bar was uncomfortably loud. Food and service were very good. Mandatory valet and charge for parking a turnoff.
Everything good except you need to valet your car, no self parking.
Wow!!! I am so glad I didn’t listen to the bad reviews! This place was outstanding! From the minute you walk in and see the huge display of fresh fish, to the design of the dining area, it is all spectacular. Our waiter was friendly, fast and accommodated our children very well. Cocktails were fabulous (pineapple/sage mule) a must have! Appetizers were out quickly and sooo good! Kids loved the bits and pieces, we had the oysters Rockefeller. Dinner consisted of snapper and sea bass, all cooked perfectly. Mac and cheese a must share for the table. Finally dessert we opted for something fun and chose the banana split pops!! It’s fun and good.... not heavy so something everyone will love!!! All and all I will definitely go back, I honestly don’t know how people have wrote bad things. And for the record I dine all over the world at top restaurants so this isn’t my first rodeo. It was great!!! Have fun and enjoy a great dinner out :)
From the gumbo and hot garlic bread to the desserts. Our dining experience at the new Willie G’s was as wonderful as all the dinners at the now shuttered old restaurant.
Sometimes change is not a good thing but Tillman and his staff have made the transition seamlessly
Thank you. We look forward to many more enjoyable dining experiences with you.
Service very slow. Then it took 45 minutes for valet to get my car. Very disorganized and very disappointing. To top it off manager offered to refund $5 valet fee. Really!
A beautiful restaurant. Service was a little slow but staff just learning. We return for sure
Love the new location & the new menu but I wish they’d bring back stuffed shrimp.
Gumbo was Horrible was dish water. Salmon was cold
Waiter Roger, was very rude...added an additional $30 to our bill...after he persuaded us to order something we weren’t sure about, by telling us if we didn’t like it he’d change it out for what we wanted to begin with...
I didn’t like the dish he suggested, however my friend was ok w/it...so he didn’t remove the dish, brought a smaller potion of new dish and charged $30...when I questioned him, he said; well your friend ate the original dish...I ask him why he didn’t remove the original dish and he said we could talk to his manager...by this time we thought it would be best to leave and not create a scene.
Roger has no business in the service industry, if you care to know this Mr. Tillman.
Amazing. Really top notch, fresh seafood and some of the best atmosphere in Houston.
$5 valet makes me rethink going again.
Beautiful restaurant, very good food and quick service. Very noisy.
But I have a hard time paying $5 to valet park on property owned by Landry's. It took a great taste and turned it sour.
Food was delicious but wine was VERY OVER PRICED! The red fish was wonderful and the most unusual greek salad was beautiful and very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their food but admitted the wine was not priced according to the food.
Horrible service! My husband and I went out for dinner here and they got both of our orders wrong. I sent mine back and they still got it wrong. I didn’t end up eating there that night. The manager came over to see how everything was while he was on his phone texting and not paying any attention to what we had to say and just walked away. We went in here with wrong expectations. We dine out every weekend for date night, but we will never be back here again. Nor would I even dare recommend this place to a friend.
Drinks took forever to be served. Food wasn’t hot. In the bar it was loud - can’t talk. First time we went it was good. This time I won’t hurry to return.
Waitstff unfriendly. Grouper was chewy and was way over spiced. Did have a good Mersualt there.
Great food, service and ambiance was great!
I will be back...
The new restaurant is absolutely stunning! Ambiance was fabulous and the food was wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening.
Beautiful new restaurant, with great food. Price is on the high side, but worth, because of quality of food, freshness! We were there for brunch, the Bloody Mary was bloody good!
Highly recommended for dinner as well.
The wait staff need some more training. Everything else was wonderful! Will definitely go back
After our last successful, albeit unbalanced, visit to the new Willie G's, we decided to try it again with friends and it turned out to be a 100% success. We were seated in a quiet corner of the restaurant and the service was outstanding. Unfortunately, they didn't have the wine we requested, but they had several equally good options. The snapper bites were still yummy and this time, the red snapper was a full portion and came out blackened (thus proving our thesis from last time that they only brought out half of our order) as requested. It was perfectly cooked and was very tasty. We also ordered the roasted cauliflower with cheese which was the best side dish we've had in a long time. Dessert was enough to share (which we did) and we all agreed we would come back soon.
Party of 6 and no one asked if there was a special occasion(my birthday) and the waitress was not as personable as other waiters usually are at most restraunts, like warm and inviting, instead she was very serious and deer and the headlights vibe. The manager walking around was the only one that asked is if everyone was ok, and we were are very cold and got blasted with cold air with the open door so our food got cold quick which was terrible considering the food is why we stayed as long as we did. We enjoyed the delicious food and that was it, oh and the bus boy was good too he was friendly and came to our table about 3 times to clear it off. Thank you. We would not recommend people to this place just on the service and cold atmosphere. Not worth the price. When people at spending about $45 dollars a plate they expect at least the minimum quality of service and too be comfortable while eating.
What a disappointment! We love to go here every time we are in Houston and have been going for many, many years. We were unaware the location had changed so that was inconvenient to park at the old place and have to be shuttled to the new one. We had an 8:00 reservation and still were not seated at 8:30. After complaining, they wanted to seat us on the patio which we refused. We were finally seated inside the main dining room and the service we got all night was great. However, it was SOOOO loud that we could barely carry on a conversation between the two of us and we could see that even the waiter was having to get in very close to speak with us. The food was delicious but we thought the fish prices were extremely high compared to other restaurants in the area. Our waiter, while attentive and training another person, tried to upsell us many times even though we told him when we sat down that we were there to get the Texas Gulf shrimp and oysters that we always loved there. He continued to suggest expensive fish dishes even though I would shake my head and say, "No. We are here for the shrimp and oysters." It was almost annoying. We did order the delicious bar trash that we always love, fried oysters and both ordered a bowl of gumbo. The gumbo was a huge disappointment as it was very thin and with very little seafood in it. I had to smash up some of the garlic bread to add to it to get any substance out of it. Very little rice was served with it and I had to ask three times for Tabasco that took over 10 minutes to be delivered back to me. By that time, my gumbo was cold; I would have sent it back but by then we were sick of the loud noise and too-close tables. What a shame. One of our favorite restaurants changed for the worse with this move. Too many tables crammed into a small space gave each table no privacy and it was so loud. Doubt that we will return as there are too many other good choices.
Took a family member there for b day celebration and the service was the worse I’ve ever had. He was was horrible!
So many mistakes and didn’t acknowledge to follow up on us. We had to ask the service people who cleans the tables for table clothes, clear the table, etc.
He poured out sparkling water on the table and me as he was pouring, did not know what was on the menu when asked, we had to repeat ourselves for what we ordered, was not at-tentative, when presented the bill we had to ask him to take our bill after sitting there for a while. Horrible!!!!
The food was good, but the size of the Salmon salad entrée was surprisingly small. The portion of the Salmon was reasonable but the salad portion was quite small. The biggest concern was the parking. The mandatory valet parking will likely reduce future visits.
The atmosphere, ambiance and service is off the charts great. I have been twice now and my meal both times has been average. I am trying different items to find one I like. I will try again.
I dined here three times while working in the area and had a wonderful experience each time! The service was top notch and the food recommendations that ALL of my servers made were on point. I will definitely be back when I'm working in Houston!
From my first visit to my last...the service from Kaitlyn and Shaun. From sharing their knowledge regarding drinks and dinner selections to just being silly with me. They did all the things that would make this girl smile. Making sure that everything was to my liking, keeping myself and companions happy & content through and through. I will return - AND I will bring anyone who wants to have great food and a fabulous time with me.
I thought the tables were to close together we sat perimeter more like a booth table. Crammed in to close to our neighbors
Other than that it was great
Very pretty place great food...
The food in this iteration of Willie G’s was just outright not good. Very disappointed.
This is a great place. Food, ambiance an staff. I have enjoyed every visit and will definitely go back.
Over priced and there old restaurant had a better menu.service was better as well as food was better. Plus location was better
It was a phenomenal experience. Abby was our waitress! She was spot on with suggestions of drinks, food, and dessert! It was my brothers first time in...he was blown away!
My husband and I are big fans of Billion Dollar Buyer. For our anniversary, we visited Houston, TX for the weekend and chose to dine at Willie G's to celebrate. We love a fancy dinner and good food! We were seated 15-20 minutes after our reservation time. The server didn't come great us for 10 minutes. I chose the wine on tap to drink, and I would not recommend this to anyone. I rarely get heartburn, but it hit me so hard that I became ill. My husband told the waiter that we needed to leave. We already ordered our entrees but hadn't received them yet. He said he'd pay for what we consumed; they said ok. He gave them his card and they charged the entire bill with the food we hadn't received. They said they'd box it up, but we had no use for it in a hotel especially seafood in a small room. My husband wrote VOID on the receipt since he wasn't consulted before they ran the full bill. The managers (yes, several) tried coercing my husband to pay the whole bill and kept pushing for it while following us out the door. It was humiliating. Would we have received the same treatment and been asked to pay the bill if the food came out incorrectly or if we didn't like our choices? No. If my illness was life threatening would the experience have been the same? I hope not. Having experience in the food industry, many times over restaurants incur the cost of rejected plates for one reason or another. In this case (as opposed to others), we did not eat every crumb of our entrees and THEN refuse to pay. Our plates could've (hopefully were) used instead for employee training and/or reward. The entire experience was so disappointing. My husband would've worked with them on the bill if they had given him the courtesy before swiping, or they would've at least received payment for what we did consume. If it manages to still show up on our card, we will dispute it now. HORRIBLE SERVICE! Not sure Tillman would appreciate this...
On a positive note, the sashimi app was truly fantastic!
Excellent service. Food was great. A bit loud.
Janae was a great server!
