Excellent beautiful restaurant with wonderful hostesses and wait staff. Delicious foods and great service.
Jonathan is an excellent server.
Definitely more upscale than the old location. The ambiance is great. I like the seafood display out in front. The wait staff is excellent. The food is good. It's a good place to take business dinners to. The only con is that parking space is limited in the area. They do have a valet for a price.
Waiter was not properly trained. He had to return to table toconfirm order. Didn’t know the menu.
We went for our daughter’s 28th birthday celebration. We had not been to their new location and were blown away how nice and upscale it was now. The food was awesome and our waiter was outstanding. It is a beautiful restaurant and I’ve the entry case of all the fresh seafood when you first walk in.
Delicious gumbo and excellent service
extensive menu with lots of choices, and a good wine list. The "Simple Fish" menu is a little confusing as to what it does or does not include. . Nice service and ambience.
Excellent food and service
This is our first time with another couple. Somehow we were sat in the back next to a very large group. There were plenty of tables in the middle with some other couples. Our waiter was not very attentive and was more worried about the large group. We had to flag him down to take our order. When we stated ordering, he keeps on getting distracted and making sure the large group got their order. He actually stopped us from ordering to go to the other table. He then confirmed our order and that wasn’t even correct. He stated he actually had the correct order written down and he just misspoke. Our friends ordered the soup to be split between them and when that came it was just in one large bowl. We had to flag him down again to get the soup to be split in the back and it seems like we were just annoying him. So, overall the experience was horrible for the amount we paid and expected from a high end restaurant.
Willy G’s was recommended to us by a local of Houston. IT WAS FABULOUS! From the moment we walked in it was an experience. They explained the massive fresh fish bar- and options of coking.
Our waiter, Roger, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ He guided us through our food selections and served up why the amazing chefs cooked up.
A must for an awesome dinner experience
Love the place; love the service, love the food and great venue for business lunch...you can hear yourself think!
Ann is the best server in Houston!
Sunday brunch date with my mom. Always enjoy the home style pancakes and American breakfast.
Always amazing food, service & ambiance .
The ambience was very good and the food was absolutely wonderful! The service is commendable. Great for date night or special occasion. Highly recommend.
Fresh, wonderful seafood. The hidden treasure is that Willie G has the best cheeseburger in town! Our favorite server is Janelle. She is a top professional!
Love Willie G!!
Gumbo wasn’t the same as the old spot, bland...
Food, Service, Cocktails and Wine made for a great experience — it was crowded and quite noisy, however.
I have been going to Willie gs for years, decades, including the old location.
The service was fabulous-
I am surprised they say you can tell you, “ yes, you can substitute vegetables” but fail to tell you there is a $4 charge (x2)
My dad’s steak was tough, For a rib eye. My fish was great, as was someone else’s- my suggestion- order seafood.
We had an excellent time. The service and food were winderful.
Great Service, great food, great atmosphere 5⭐️
It was a great evening and great experience. We visited from California looking forward to Gulf Coast seafood and an enjoyable evening. This is by far our new favorite restaurant in Houston.
We had a wonderful experience eating here and loved how close it was to our hotel! The staff was great and the food was even better! The only negative thing about it was that they didn’t have any GF bread for my Mom. Most places accommodated her wherever we went, and she was a little disappointed that they didn’t have bread or crackers to go with our oysters.
First time at Willie G's. Was not what I expected. Looking at it on line and the name I wasn't expecting high end service, quality, ambiance....but most importantly amazing food. If you've never been there.....go go go go.
Best French market oysters my wife has ever had. Please tell
Jonathan thank you.
We will be back soon!
We were celebrating a friends Anniversary and they were very accommodating. Although the ambiance is nice, the food is tasty, the portions are very minimal for the pricy selections.
Once reservations were made I received a confirmation phone call and was told the group policy for seating and payment which was appreciated. Our table was ready and service was great.
I really enjoyed the over all experience of the restaurant. Servers were very professional. I ordered chicken gumbo and it was extremely salty. It did not taste like gumbo at all. My gumbo was sent back and I opted out of ordering another meal. The server did remove the gumbo from my ticket which was unexpected but greatly appreciated. I will be back but will not order gumbo lol because everyone else enjoyed their meals.
Every thing was great except an incident that happened to me which I believe is your fault.
At the table where I was sitting, there was a ledge on the table covered by white cloth.
I ordered wine .
I placed the glass on the ledge.
The glass tilted and all the wine spilled on my clothes and damaged them.
Overall food was very good. Seabass was fresh, but snapper smelled a little fishy. Service was OK. A bit slow and some items missing and needed to be asked for. For price point service could be stepped up a little more. But really great meal overall.
We started off at a table and had zero 0 service for a unacceptable amount of time. Once we move to the bar we had great food and service.
I have been to this restaurant in the past, as well as other Landry's establishments. I expect average to above average, the the service this night was below par. The wait staff was very friendly, but everything took a long time, from ordering drinks, to receiving drinks, to ordering the meal, to receiving the meal, to paying for the tab. The restaurant was not crowded at all, but the time it took to get anything was extremely slow. We even had to ask the manager for the bill, and we did let the manager know about the slow service. I do not know if it was the fault of the bar, the kitchen, or even our waiter, but it was very disappointing.
Well, normally I love Willie G's, but the menu has changed since I was last there. Almost no options other than seafood. You must love seafood otherwise I'd say don't go there. It was tough on one special guest with us, she really had trouble finding something to order. Moving on. Unfortunately I had issue with the service. There was only one waiter for the entire room. I brought a table of 8 execs in town for the first time to Houston and bragged about Willie G's inside the fabulous Post Oak. Problem is I had not been to this location before so I had no idea the restaurant was not "inside" the Post Oak Hotel as Post Oak boasts that this is one of their restaurants. Folks if you are thinking you are going to be able to walk thru that gorgeous hotel to get to the restaurant, you will be disappointed. It is a separate building next door. It also says that attire is upscale, told everyone to wear a jacket/slacks, something nice, noticed some jeans and golf shirts dining so disappointing. Moving on...we had an early dinner: 6:15pm. It was not busy, only 2 tables had guests when we got there. We sat at the table for at least 30 minutes with no water, no bread, no "can I get anyone a drink" service. We just sat there forever looking at each other like, "is anyone going to wait on us?" I was embarrassed, I had to get up and go ask "hey where's our waiter? we've been just sitting there forever without any drinks or anything." When he finally showed up he was very attentive BUT...it was when he finally showed up. So...bad service that night.
Great service and delicious food. I have celiac disease and they accommodated my food to be free of gluten.
The new location is absolutely beautiful. The menu selection has been reduced, but great offerings. There’s something there for everyone. Highly recommended!!!
The food at Willie G's is always excellent. And Rita's service make every dinning experience memorable...
Top 3 seafood restaurant in Houston right now.
My husband and I chose Willie G’s for our Friday date night. It also happened to be Astros’ playoffs so the hostess did a great job finding us a table by a tv so we could watch the game.
We started with drinks and specialty oysters. The drinks were done well, and the north coast oysters were delicious. We each had the seafood file gumbo- decent but bland, needing Tobasco to add proper flavor. My husband had the broiled seafood platter and potatoes with sour cream for his main course. It was good, but he was expecting a more exciting dish. It was very greasy for being broiled. I had the broiled tilefish, which was one of the specialty fishes of the day, and the Mac and cheese. The fish was way over cooked and i had to douse it in lemon and salt to pick up any flavor, and was done after a few bites. The Mac and cheese was mediocre, not good, not bad. For dessert we shared the Creme brûlée. It was good for sharing, but there was something just a bit off.
The service experience left a bit to be desired. The waiter may have been new or just inexperienced, but couldn’t answer some questions we had about the oysters. Also, when our food cane out, it was dropped off with no explanation, nor were we ever asked if we needed anything, we had to chase someone down when we did. But the valet- horrible. Every experience is terrible. This time we pulled up and I handed them our valet key. When we came out from dinner, it took a while to get our car and pay valet fee (no idea why, it wasn’t busy). When we got home, we could not find the key. Obviously it was in the car but nowhere to be found. My husband spent 10 mins looking for it, I spent another 15. Finally I called to try to figure out what happened. The valet stuck the key on the shifter, which then fell in between the seats. The resolve- “get a coat hanger”. Luckily it worked, but really? Put it where it belongs or hand it back! It’s a basic rule. Ridiculous and frustrating. Not the way our evening should have ended.
For the first time, for some reason, we were rushed to get in and out quickly
