The food was exceptional and service was greatly improved over previous visit. Well done!
In the last month I have gone to Willie G's twice. I went to Willie G's for lunch on Friday 2/1 and for dinner on 2/17. Both times the food has been delicious but service has been spotty. For lunch on 2/1 our food took a long time to arrive. Some apps that were ordered first didn't come to right before our meal. Our lunch reservation was at 11:30 but we didn't end our meal till 2pm. We had a party of 10 but that is still a long time for service. For dinner on 2/17, again food was superb but service was not that great. Our server was very dry and when taking our order didn't look at us in the eye, instead looking around the restaurant less interested in what we had to say. No suggestions on drinks or apps. He didn't even smile. If it wasn't for the amazing food, I would not return.
Soon being seated, the hostess wanted to sit us way in the back next to kitchen when there was plenty of tables upfront. Fish was over cooked. Shrimp still had veins. Bread was too hard/stale. Crab cakes delicious. Server was great.
Valentines Weekend celebration with my wife.
Made a reservation in advance and they seated us in the bar. They should not have taken the reservation if they could not seat us in the main dining area or they should have told us a in advance. The food is good but overpriced.
I ordered chilean sea bass it was a bit fishy and rubbery; I am not quit sure it was sea bass. My husband ordered a ribeye and it was OK, maybe good if it cost $15 and not $42. The sushi roll was good and the sides of french fries and gratin cauliflower were tasty as well. The best part was the atmosphere and decor and the bread pudding was excellent! Would go back for appetizers and a drink but not a meal. With all the great places to eat in Houston this goes further down the list.
Great food and excellent service with Russell! We will be back!
Anything was wonderful from the food and the service
Had the chicken and sausage gumbo, grilled oysters, blacked red snapper and cauliflower au gratin. The broth in the gumbo was so good exactly what I needed for my throat(laryngitis) but the chicken was skimpy and dry. I personally use thighs not breast for that reason but the sausage was good . I love grilled oysters and theirs didn't disappoint. They were delicious. My cauliflower though was hard and undercooked but the cheese sauce was wonderful. The fish was a disappointment. It was not covered in a thick crust of blackened goodness but was kinda charred on one side more than the other. The service was wonderful.. I would come back to this place just for the oysters. They were excellent. I would try other dishes to see which would be my favorite. My husband had Mellisa"s snapper and he loved it.
The seafood tower appetizer was amazing!! Willie G’s never disappoints.
Great food, great service(sunjeet, sorry if i mispelled) was awesome waiter. Really knew the menu and helped us as every turn. House old fashion was top notch. Food was delicious. Get the beignets for dessert! Only down side is that its quite pricey.
Wonderful restaurant. The Salmon was delicious! My favorite restaurant in Houston.
We were there celebrating Valentine’s Day
We love the customer service. The food was good. We went on Valentine’s Day for lobsters but they ran out so it was very disappointing.
Very nice. Food was great and service was A +.
I love Willie G's. The food is fantastic. I always get the big fish either wood fire grilled or brick oven roasted and the bread pudding is to die for. My favorite waitress is Kayla. She really knows the menu, the different variations available, and makes really good suggestions if you don't know what you want or need an alternative. I would definitely recommend Willie G's and will be back myself.
Great service from Abby
We had a great meal- our reservation was at 5.
Our waiter and staff were amazing- the music made it hard to hear- but other than that we had a good time.
Great dinner. And time catching up with friends.
Great waiter with good recommendations. Manhattans were excellent. Food was excellent and hot when served.
This was my first time at the Galleria area location. The food and atmosphere were fabulous. It was a great place to take my seafood loving friend on his first visit to Houston.
I used to go to Willie G's alot but presently with some many other nice restaurant to choose from, Willie g's has become.....average
Food good but only warm; not hot
Waiter was incredibly inhospitable, never felt welcomed or in good hands - felt rushed all night
Great meal! Fish was perfect
I will come back, but I would refuse the waiter I had. It was my Lady birthday and he told us that they did not honor people birthday while we saw others celebrating their birthday. And I ordered gulf shrimp the shrimp I got was not gulf shrimp! I tipped the waiter over 20%. We left and went to Papas to celebrate there. The waiter just might been having a bad evening.
It does tend to get a little loud so would be nice to have the background music volume be lowered.
Great food. Our waiter was excellent !
Beautiful decor and good food selection.
Our first experience w/ a bad waiter who wanted to take his time and kept forgetting what we ordered and what he offered. We were starving and were ready to order from the beginning but our waiter was in no hurry and seemed quite caught off guard each time he came and we wanted to order something. He offered bread after appetizers (we would have wanted that first) and then forgot about it and never brought it. Kept having to look for him bc he would leave for long periods of time. We were trying to catch a movie after.
Great Place . One of the best lobsters I have had in Houston.
This is the third time we have tried this place and every time we come away saying that they just don’t have it all together. The service is spotty with frequent mistakes, the food is OK and they seem to want to make up for average food with large quantities. We don’t like complicated, saucy dishes and so we order the “simple fish” broiled and it has been good but the olive oil soaked sides (brocollini and tomatoes) are too much. I have enjoyed their selection of east coast oysters on the half shell, however my wife order the NEw Orleans style grilled oysters and they were so small you could hardly find them under the butter and parmesan cheese topping. The one saving grace is that their desserts are wonderful but again too much. There are better choices and we will moved on.
Always a pleasurable experience. Thanks to a wonderful staff and great food
Great vibe in bar, restaurant and patio. Service and staff were great. My Salmon was just a bit overcooked but the flavors were good!
Marvin and the crew at the bar provided excellent service with multiple recommendations for food and drinks. Very attentive during a busy Friday night. This was my first visit to Willie G's as a visitor from Washington, DC, thanks for a great experience
Great place nice ambiance. I know it's a seafood spot, however the raw fish smell walking in is a bit of a turn off. Prices are great for such a sexy spot. Oh.... Add more cocktails!
atmosphere great. food great. our server was the pits. made my son and I feel rushed and a bit unwelcomed. what would have been a very pleasurable dining experience was marred by his unpleasant behavior.
The shrimp gumbo was not gumbo in the form I expected. It was a soup with 6 small shrimp and literally a thimble-full of white rice you dumped into the bowl. The seafood salad was a cornucopia of too many ingredients and appeared at our table like a big pile of debris. The appetizers, crab cakes and sea bass bites, were quite good. Entré was two stars worthy.
Excellent evening. We enjoyed the specialty martini. The mahi fish bites were melt in your mouth good. My wife had the mahi dinner and ate every bit of it. I had the scallops and they were delicious. Creme brulee was good, but the bread pudding was awesome. Oh we also started with some great oysters.
Our server, Rita, was fantastic. Great service and friendly.
We love Willie Gs, but this is only our second visit to the new location. Food, to us, was not as good as the first time, but the tempura shrimp and BBQ shrimp appetizers were terrific. The grilled red snapper was very dry, and saved only by the butter/crab concoction on top, for which I paid extra. Good cocktails, great service, and we will try again.
Food was excellent wit great service. Really like the booths for enjoying the meal and a bit more quiet
