First time visiting Willie Gs and definitely my last time. The waiter wasn’t attentive. At one point, we had to get assistance from another waiter. When we got our food, it was cold. When we returned it to the kitchen it came back worse. We left unsatisfied.
This place never disappoints! Very good and fresh seafood meals and appetizers. Not enough chocolate options for desert, but that's just me. I guess it was better for my diet! :-)
Excellent Food and Excellent Staff. We will certainly be back!
Where do I start? I chose to celebrate my 42nd birthday at Willie G’s based on location and to try out a new place I haven’t experienced yet. Needless to say I was thoroughly disappointed in the lack of service and quality of food and will not ever return. Let’s start with Roger, our server. He was the most un-attentive server my friends and I ever experienced, we literally had to ask for everything including bread to start and refills on our cocktails. When he left our table, 30 minutes had passed before he returned to check on us, the sad part was...they weren’t even busy. When we asked why he hasn’t checked on us, he said he was helping another server. WTF...what sense does that make and you aren’t taking care of your own table? Now the food, it lacked presentation and taste, the appetizers looked like a few grilled shrimp with pieces of crab were thrown on a plate. My friend and I ordered gumbo and it was the worse looking soup I ever seen. It barely had any meat, was watery and the roux was burnt. We sent it back and didn’t replace with anything else. None the less, there were a couple of birthdays who got the whole staff to come out and sing, but when it came to my birthday, we got Roger 😑. The Manager tried to rectify our concerns but the overall consensus for me was, they didn’t want us there. We still gave a decent tip just to avoid the stigma that we don’t tip BUT trust me when I say, the food should have been free and they should have paid us for the horrible experience and the non existent customer service. In the future, I will stick to what I know; our money would have been better spent, food and ambiance enjoyed at Mastros.
The seafood tower is amazing. Make sure you have 4 solid eaters as it’s a ton of food.
Where we always bring out of town friends.
Not a good value for the money. Salmon was over cooked, shrimps too small.
Our waiter Russell was amazing! Food was great! Will be back soon.
It was fantastic as always. This is the first waitress that didn’t seem to want to be there but the restaurant is still awesome.
My entrée, the scallops with corn, pork belly and tomato jam, was fabulous! The best entrée I have had in a restaurant this year! The whole dinner, from an interesting cocktail to appetizer to entrée was wonderful.
The margaritas are too good. They are too easy to drink. The food was served perfectly and a few special requests were handled well. The new location takes a bit of getting used to. There were a lot of shuttle busses from the nearby hotel in the parking lot making it a bit difficult to maneuver. The décor was modern and attractive. The display of the fish of the day at the entrance was appealing. The valet staff were quick and efficient. Overall a really nice long lunch.
Our first return to the new location after the move. Pleasantly very satisfied to all aspects of the restaurant's upgrades from the former, most notably the improvement to the food offerings in terms of quality, taste and presentation. Kudos to the staff specially
Not impressed with the food at all. Ordered hamachi and it was covered in peanut sauce. Our salad with the salmon on top was soggy and covered in dressing. The ambiance is horrible.
First of all, even when they called today to confirm reservation, we got there to hear that we did not have reservations. After a couple of minutes or so, they found it!! About to get upset just here. Even though I told them several times that two at the table were having birthdays, nothing special was done. Waiter was attentive, but didn’t go beyond her duties. Brought my martini not as ordered, and full of dripping red stain from bar counter. Table cloth got stained, I asked if we could change tables. She brought two paper napkins to cover stain. I was not impressed. On the contrary, disappointed.
It was all very wonderful!
Birthday for three out of the four of us.
Lovely fresh fish dishes, good flavours and plenty of choice. Drinks were overpriced and waitress was quite pushy to sell more drinks.
Food wasn’t the greatest, but still an enjoyable dinner
Service is always slow on Sunday. It takes forever to be brought a menu. You feel forgotten.
Great brunch menu that offered burgers, sushi, lots of seafood and breakfast. Enough choices for everyone
I wish I would’ve requested what area I wanted to sit in or they would’ve asked me where I wanted to sit. The bar area wasn’t as fancy as I was looking for. But the food was good.
Dinner with family
While there celebrating a birthday, we had another addition to our party and it appeared as though the request was ignored to add another or locate another table... not good when your addition cannot eat.... the waiter continued to say he was the “middle man” and had no say and the manager attended to everyone else and ignored our request... while I like the atmosphere at Willie G’s I would not go with a party larger than 5 people... the gumbo was a little thin (watery)....
Very yummy dinner and desert. Great menu for adults and kids!
I had a great first experience at Willie G's. I will return as I found the food fresh and the price reasonable! Another Landry's brand to add to my foodie addiction!
We used to go to the old Willie G’s on Post Oak where you could have great dinner and conversation at the table. This is impossible in the new place. On top of the very bad acoustics, they have very loud music playing and all you can do is eat and stare at your phone or scream at your dinner partners. Maybe this is what they are going for in this new concept. Not my cup of tea.
By the way,, we enjoyed over 30 years of great dining at the old place
Service, quality of food is PERFECT!
If you can try the Oysters Willes and a small one no salty with a Caymus SELECT.
You will be in heaven!
Always a great meal in a nice setting! The Willie Nillie oysters were the best. Yes, I tried each kind they had. The African prawns were moist and flavorful. And the wine list was very comprehensive.
Very nice restaurant. The new location will have to grow on me but overall the ambience was extremely nice. The food portions were smaller than anticipated for the cost. We ordered the scallops and only received 3 medium sized scallops. We also ordered the grilled seafood platter and the portions were small for that dish as well. Overall a mediocre experience.
Food was excellent.
Fresh seafood with nice flavors in general. The cocktails were solid. Appetizers hamachi crudo and grilled Thai chili oysters were great! Server was nice but a little overwhelmed. Wish they offered more complimentary side veggie options for the fresh fish dishes than just grilled broccolini. Had to pay extra (more than nominal) for side substitutions. Miso glazed Sea bass was on point. Korean flavored king crab legs were wonderful. The grilled amber jack was fresh but a little too firm (overcooked). Grilled seafood player was just so so. Standard side of grilled broccolini was ok, a little bland. Brussels sprouts and the creamed corn were creative and delicious.
The food was excellent - Croque Madame, Seafood Gumbo, Broiled Salmon with Lump Crab Butter. Service was good, but pacing was a little uneven. The salad and entree came out at the same time. However, that was a relatively minor issue. Otherwise food, service, and the overall experience were excellent.
Great upscale restaurant. Jimmy our server was particularly notable. We will definitely be asking for him on our return. Décor is beautiful -- one of the grander restaurants in Houston. We were here for Sunday brunch. The American breakfast was really good and plentiful. The chicken and beignets was a treat; served with 3 dipping sauces. Next time, we will be even more adventuresome with our selections!
One of our favorite restaurants. Always excellent food and exceptional service! Alex is a great waiter!
Every thing was spectacular
Seafood trio was not that great. Very little crab meat.
Delicious king crab fried rice!
Could possibly be the best seafood restaurant in Texas. The prawns were perfectly cooked and fell from the shell. Sprouts were buttery and delicious. Nice wine, great service. Tuna poke was marinated in a nice sauce with a hint of corn oil. Fried rice, tempura shrimp all perfect. Highly recommend. Tillman could be taking over the food scene across the nation. His string of restaurants are simply surpassing typical cuisine. We have trouble going anywhere else while out of town.
Awesome, as always! Wonderful ambiance with delicious food. The perfect lunch or dinner choice.
