Food was pretty good. Really enjoyed the fried chicken biscuit with tobasco honey and a poached egg on top. Milk money latte was great. I liked the hangover bowl as well, just not as much as the biscuit.

Was a little surprised of the lack of what I consider breakfast food. Not a bad thing, but when you walk in for breakfast expecting to see a menu and choose between pancakes or an omelette (just examples), and they aren’t on there, I was a little disappointed. Didn’t matter though; the meal overall ended up really good.

The Quinoa Bowl was amazing!! Like most of the restaurants in NOLA, the coffee just isn't flavorable enough, most likely due to needing a stronger coffee. Let's remember, we can always dilute strong coffee!!

Don’t be fooled by the 1 page menu that appears to be basic eats. Nothing here is basic. They get it here, foods you love, prepared with exquisite ingredients and creativity. Elegant simplicity that isn’t pretentious. Pimento grilled cheese? Yes please. LBGTGV BLT? I’ve never had a BLT so memorable. Shoestring fries with homemade ketchup? Put these in your belly. Adore everything about this place.

As soon as we got there we were seated which was great. The biscuit and gravy was good but our meals were lacking. Service was not that great. Our server just disappeared for about 30 min after we ate. Cookies were the highlight. Probably won't be back for anything else.

My mom (who is 74 and does not do spicy and has not been exposed much to contemporary cooking as my dad’s favorite restaurant is Outback) and I had a reservation for 830 which I think was the last of the night. It was pretty empty when we got there and we were the last ones there. Service was great and so was the food. My mom loved the food and The deconstructed red velvet cake was absolutely fantastic. The chocolate chip cookies were pretty fantastic too.

If you go close to closing time it is not hard to get a table, be beware that they are more interested in breaking down the condiments and getting ready to lock up than they are in whether you need a refill or if your food is too your enjoyment. They chicken and dumplings is NOT anything close to what chicken and dumplings is supposed to be. I suggest Willa jean go stay in the country and learn some reliable traditional recipes for country food. Also the music selection being piped throughout the restaurant was poorly chosen and made for a worse experience. I've eaten there on 3 occasions thinking I needed to give them a chance or that maybe they've had an "off night" but all 3 times were disappointing. This is sad because I live in the neighborhood and wanted a close place to frequent.

Don't miss the corn bread--it's outstanding. Great beet salad, too, and my companion loved his grilled cheese sandwich. Just a very vibrant, modern, fun place.

Willa Jean was recommended by a friend for my very first dinner in New Orleans. And it was great. Started with the warm cornbread with butter and syrup and the artichoke dip. Both were delish and we could have stopped there, but we didn't come all the way from NY for a couple of appetizers. Next, we ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the chicken and biscuits. Both were great, but no room left for dessert. I'll save it for my next trip to town.

Lotta hype... not really a New Orleans experience- wish we had just gone to one of the many seafood joints in the French Quarter. This restaurant feels like they're trying too hard to be hip. My husband loves shrimp every way but the open faced sandwich was weird; my chicken sandwich wasn't even as good as a fast food place (dry & over priced).
This place looks great on television but you'll be disappointed.

Service was friendly!

My boyfriend and I are on vacation in New Orleans and wanted to eat at Willa Jean. Our server provided great service. We ordered the Cornbread, Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate, Shrimp & Grits with a Poached Egg, & The Hangover Bowl (Braised Short Rib and Grits with a Poached Egg. The food was delicious and so flavorful. We had a great time there.

I'm not sure why this restaurant is so popular for brunch. Overpriced, food is mediocre, drinks are nothing special. It was really disappointing. Maybe I've just gotten too used to NYC Brunch places? Nevertheless, I won't go back.
