Wild Onion Tied House
We chose the name Wild Onion in honor of the origins of Chicago’s name. “Che-cau-gua” was the phrase the original inhabitants of the region, the Potawatomi, used to describe the wild onions that grew throughout the area’s wetlands near the shores of Lake Michigan. We loved the imagery of the early French Canadian fur traders paddling their canoes down the Chicago River, surrounded by the distinctly aromatic wild onions as they approached the “big lake”. We believed it was the perfect name for a new brewery with old ties to the city.
Always great!for family and live music on weekends
Great casual “public house” style brewpub. Buffalo cauliflower was great and pastrami Reuben was outstanding — house smoked pastrami was a standout
Great food. Friendly staff. Love the candied bacon
This was my first visit to Wild Onion Tied House. I went to see a very talented musician perform and quite enjoyed the restaurant. It's very welcoming and intimate, but not too small. The staff is extremely friendly and very attentive. The food and drinks were delicious and I had a very enjoyable night. I would definitely recommend this place and I know I'll be heading back there again soon.
Very slow service
Food was great! From fried pickles to the sandwich. Service was fast and accurate. Great place to dine in and relax.
Wife and I love this place. Good food, great beer selection
Great craft beer selection and awesome menu. Wife and I love this place
Our server, Miranda, was awesome. Explained the beers, bar bites and menu perfectly.
Excellent server. You’ve got a good person on your staff that you should look after, named Breon. Really, he made the eve for our table. Someone is going to steal him from you. Look out!
The food and service was amazing as well as their large selection of craft beers. I highly recommend the buffalo cauliflower!!
Had fun with beer flights and everyone had a great time. Smoked pastrami was a delicious surprise. Calamari and ribs were not bad but not great. Chicken burger was a huge hit with my Mom. Only downside was the noise level- but it didn’t stop us from having a great time and I won’t stop us from coming back.
It’s a hidden jewel! We had a great time and even got to see a live show. They have a great beer selection. I got a flight and it was a very decent sized option. Burger was also a great choice. Good value for your money!
Was about as expected for this type of place. Good nothing exceptional. Good value for the amount of food. I enjoyed the fried pickles and Mac and cheese the most. There was a band playing at 7 pm on a Friday which made it a bit hard to catch up with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while because it was so loud.
I like this place - food is good, service is friendly. My only issue is it is LOUD. I love that it is a great place to take the family but if you are there with friends or on a date it can be challenging to converse. I wouldn't let that you stop you from trying the restaurant, just be aware so you can set your expectations appropriately.
Terrific place for a business/group meeting. Staff is professional, food is excellent and well priced. Wifi available if needed. Highly recommend!
This was our first visit, and we enjoyed it a lot. Impressed by the excellent service and good quality food, and especially appreciated the gluten free options. Extra shout out to our server, Rachel S., who worked hard to expedite our order when we told her that we were short on time.
Always love this place! Tried the brisket sandwhich and I think it's my new favorite besides the burger which is always a solid choice. One of the best burger and beer places ever in the OP area!
This is my third time dining here. I’ve never been disappointed and would recommend.
My boyfriend and I dine Wild Onion Tied House regularly. We always receive excellent service and the staff is very friendly. We have tried multiple items on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. Wild Onion has a great atmosphere during the week as well as during live music nights. We have come to view the staff as our friends and always recommend the Tied House to friends looking for good beer, great food, and friendly faces. Also the fried pickles with ghost pepper ranch, nachos, and mac and cheese are life changing!
The atmosphere was good, live music but a little loud for conversations. The food was great, once it came out. Our food took forever to come out and waiter was MIA for most of the meal so we couldn’t get beer refills.
As usual, Wild Onion served up a wonderful meal and a good stout. We had Fish & Chips (made this well almost nowhere) and Smoked Fish Salad (wow!). Their staple Jack Stout is quite good, but I am waiting for a darker, sweeter stout from this excellent brewer. They make a variety of very hoppy brews ... all good. Inside can be noisy, but we sat outside on a lovely evening and could hear each other talk. Great time!
Mediocre at best. The food was average, a bit expensive and service was extremely slow.
Had a great time with friends and everyone was so helpful and nice!
We made a reservation for a party of 14 (ended up with 16), so they knew in advance we were coming. But it took an hour and a half to get our food. We had to ask for the appetizers to be served first, not waiting for the entrees. The manager did eventually come out - after we had sat for 1.5 hours and complained a couple of times - to explain that the cook hadn't shown up and to offer us a discount on our meals. We should have been told that from the start, however, when we had time to move to another restaurant.
I took my family for a Fathers Day brunch and it seems like the Chef forgot what Spice is. There was no salt on the steak, burgers or chicken dish. My son's Mashed potatoes seemed to be made with very little cream or butter. They also tasted like the water was not seasoned when being made. I ordered my Burger with no bun and Mayo on the side and received a full burger. I tried to order a second patty and was told I could not. Also, the service was slow and drinks were rarely re-filled. I do not believe I will be going back for the food, maybe the beer. Was not really even decent bar food.
Family lunch at this new local place. We've been 4-5 times now and have really enjoyed it every time. Love their wings/apps. Candied bacon really decadent. Good beer list and everything we've had is very good. Our server this time, Alan, was awesome!
Only gripe is there is nothing to dampen the noise and the ambiance is a tad sparse. Bar also seems very slow with drinks every time we've been. Shouldn't take that long to pour a beer or glass of wine. Overall we love it!
We will miss Eli
A great overall experience . Good selection of craft beers including ales, stouts, lagers and I P A"s with different sizes available for tasting or accompanying meals or an afternoon watching sports. Also a good although limited assortment of appetizers , sandwiches and entrees.
Great food and impeccable service by “Bre” will definitely come back and hope we get him as our server again.
Good food, great atmosphere, excellent service. We go every week!
Excellent food and beer. Server was very knowledgeable about the food preparation and menu. Athena buffalo cauliflower bites, fried chickpeas, portobello mushrooms sandwich and chicken sandwich were outstanding. We will definitely return
Our favorite place!
Best restaurant in OP. Good for families
They accommodate our boisterous toddlers and give us a great brunch.
Fun. The food is good, it is a lively place and the value is good. The three of us had a lovely time. This is the third time I've been and we will all come back again. Again - good value for the money and tasty food.
Everything was good except the noise level. Could not hold conversations at the table with anyone other than who was next to you; worse when the musicians started, even if they were good.
Candied bacon is a must. All food great but that is unique
Holy cow. Very noisy environment- there was live music, and even without that, you had to shout to have a conversation. The food is mediocre, but priced for better. Service was good, and friendly. This was my second visit - I wasn’t impressed the first time, but wanted to give them a second chance. Nope. Won’t be a third.
