About Wild Ginger - Franklin

Wild Ginger is a refreshingly distinct fine dining experience located at the heart of Cool Springs-featuring an eclectic blend of Pan-Asian, South American, and Western cuisine in the Pacific Rim style-with succulent selections for all palates, including the popular miso seabass, braised short rib, and a wide array of signature maki and tapas.
Though restaurants categorized as “fusion” are mostly located in trendy metropolitan areas like Miami and Manhattan, Wild Ginger is the first and only of its kind in Middle Tennessee.
This family-owned and operated restaurant’s perpetually growing popularity and devoted regular clientele make it essential for us to not just continually reinvent our menu, but more importantly, the entire dining experience. Wild Ginger is the perfect destination for a business lunch, romantic evening, or relaxing dinner with family and friends.

Even with a reservation we waited for about 30 minutes to sit. Once we did we ended up with a pretty annoying waiter. The food was good though. Don't expect to eat the sushi in one bite. Eat piece was huge, and could have been cut thinner.

This was my second visit. The Wild Ginger salad was very refreshing. The porterhouse pork was massive but tasted brilliant. The staff were really friendly and treated me, a single diner, with as much attention as couples or groups. The only downside was the noise level; I wouldn’t describe it as energetic but frenetic.

Well, it was a weird experience. I reserved a table for a date night with my wife on Valentine’s Day. First, we were surprised that the restaurant didn’t have anything available to order a la carte, only preset menus for like 40, 50, 70 and 80 dollars. Items were not transferable between the menus unless you’re willing to go down on value but still pay the higher price. It didn’t seem fair. Then the waiter... He was a tall guy with a stone face - no smile, no emotions. It was hard to communicate with him, he would not give you any clue as to whether he heard you or not, no feedback. I had to repeat some items because he said he couldn’t hear me. But, strangely he didn’t make any effort to, like, lean forward or do something to get closer. So I had to almost yell but still wouldn’t get any feedback from him whether he heard and understood me or not. My wife was concerned that he didn’t behave normal and may do something weird to our food, like spit in it or even something worse. So we just had to leave quickly and ask the front desk people to cancel out order. We are not coming back to this place.

Food is great but completely unacceptable to wait 30 minutes for a table when you have a reservation.

The waitress was disinterested and the service spotty. A server came with my order and placed it in front of me from my left side where I was not looking. Said "enjoy" while already walking away. Waitress never asked how it was (don't order the "water lily" roll unless you love jam!) - and it was awful. The lobster bisque tasted good but had a drop or two of lobster bits. Wouldn't go back.

5* Fantastic Food - 1* Service

Very high noise level. Cold drafts coming in from door. My "reservation" got us a table in the bar with a lot of traffic and people hovering over us waiting for tables. Food excellent, although portions small. I had to get up to help person in walker trying to get in door as hostess staff busy chatting with each other. Appetizer served without plates. Server chatting with friends leaving other server to take care of our table. Don't envision going back any time soon even though the food was really excellent.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. The sushi rolls were generous in size, fresh, but nothing special. In fact, many of the specialty rolls were exercises in excess. This could just be my love of simplicity with sushi, but it seemed like a theme-park of sushi (not in a good way).

It got worse in that we had reservations for 745 but were not seated until 810. Waiting 25 minutes for your reservation was just poor form. No real apologies were made, no offers to make up for it with an appetizer or drinks were given. Poor form.

Finally, the value of this place was way off. 2 Sushi rolls, 1 order of Nigiri, 1 appetizer, and 2 drinks totaled out to nearly $100 with a 15% tip. The sushi is good, but nowhere near that good. For $100, a meal should be great, the experience should be great, the service should be great. Wild Ginger was not great.

I enjoyed Wild Ginger. The food was generally good with a couple of issues. The sea bass was too salty. There was a piece on the sushi platter i didn't particularly like.
We had a reservation, but had to wait about 30 minutes. It was a Friday night and very busy.
The service was generally friendly, but not polished. Waiter was a little impatient -- again, it was super busy. Our entrees (there were only two of us) didn't come out together and the waiter seemed to have "lost" it for a bit. They cleaned (washed) the table while were sitting there finishing our meal.
It's good dining, but not fine dining.
In the end, though, the good outweighed any drawbacks. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely go back.

The food was delicious. We had Havana roll, some salmon and tuna sashimi, and the blackened prawns and scallops.

The preparation was perfectly executed on all items, the fish was fresh, and the cooked items were well seasoned.

Service was excellent, it was a date night and our server, Steven, was attentive without being intrusive.

The only drawback of the evening was the noise. It was busy, so some exception should be given, but hearing our server and holding a conversation was challenging until around 9PM (on a Tuesday).

Excellent creative Asian food in a beautiful setting. Food is a pretty as it is tasty. Stick to Asian dishes. The lobster bisque wasn't up to the standard of the other food.

We arrived early and they were able to seat us within 15 minutes! The food was spectacular! The portions were on the larger side and the waiter was incredibly knowledgeable. He didn't mind my questions (new to Sushi) and made wonderful recommendations. Prices were in line with other restaurants in the area and were well worth it!

Wild Ginger is the only restaurant my wife and I go to that we always order the same thing - fried rice for me, Singapore noodles for her - and we love it every time. This past trip (a dinner date followed by a movie at Thoroughbred), we both drank the Thai iced green tea, and split a salad as an appetizer. All told - a $50 bill. Cannot possibly beat that!

I absolutely recommend Wild Ginger, it's our go-to restaurant in Cool Springs. Never have an issue getting a reservation so we often fall back on Wild Ginger when we can't get in elsewhere, but it's always very lively and bustling, so a great combination. It's also a great family option for us as both kids and adults love the food. The menu is great, my husband usually gets sushi, I love the brisket tacos, the pork belly bao buns, and the Mongolian beef. The service is great, they have valet parking, all around just a great restaurant!

I took my wife out for her birthday with our kids. Wild Ginger is one of her favorite spots and it did not disappoint. We arrived a couple minutes behind schedule but when we arrived the staff was super friendly and seated us immediately. The waiter we had was nice and the food came out quick. The app, sushi rolls, and entree we had were excellent. Overall, the is one of our favorites and we were reminded again of why. Great job WG!

We really enjoyed Wild Ginger, the menu is different than what you would expect. The sushi offerings have a lot of ingredients, I was worried I wouldn’t enjoy it with so many flavors. But the roll we got was delicious (but very large, can’t eat a piece in one bite!) and it was fun to try something new. We will be back!
