Service was super slow - our burrata appetizer came out before our bottle of wine - the wine took forever. Waiter was very professional and experienced with what to say - but did not redeem the slow service and or issues with the steak. Even though the temperature of the steak was not his fault. Steaks were overcooked - we asked for rare plus/medium rare, but they were medium well and tough. Sent back first steak, only to wait 25-30 minutes to receive the 2nd steak which was the exact same medium well. We were starving and just ate it. Also, had just been waiting for so long. Salads were inconsistent even though we ordered the same - one had too much dressing and one did not have enough. Scallops were very good, as was the duck. It was my birthday. Although even with the super slow service and waiting and waiting to be served, we still had to pay for the desert - it would have been a very nice gesture to have received a complimentary desert not only for my birthday, but to make up for the experience.

ordered tea- it was delivered with cold water and a tea bag. most of the wine on the wine menu was not available. Atmosphere was like a cafeteria. Bill was over $400 with only a total of 4 alcoholic beverages. INSANE. Food mediocre at best... also- it was $100 cab ride round trip from the town.

We were excited to dine at the Wild Caddis based on a recommendation. We enjoyed our food but the overall experience was a bit of a letdown. The ambiance was not there. The dining room needs an update. The waiter was new and was not very well trained. I don’t think he brought the right dish to the right person once. He knew nothing about the menu. That all said, we may try it again in warmer weather to take advantage of the outside dining area (beautiful) and hope for a better waiter.

We used to LOVE this restaurant--it was our go to place for special family meals and anniversary celebrations. But the last several meals were not up to the previous standards both in terms of service and in terms of the quality of food. The night we recently had dinner all doors and windows were open which might have been lovely were it not for the fact that it was much too warm and there were annoying flies buzzing around our table. The salad and appetizer were good. The bison entree was also nicely prepared (but very overpriced even by Big Sky standards). The halibut entrees were so over-cooked as to be inedible. The chef, a lovely man, came out to apologize and one entree was taken off the bill, which was a nice response. Even the bread service was not top quality. So disappointing!

This was our third time eating dinner here, and to put it mildly, it was a big disappointment. We both ordered the $50 veal chop cooked medium rare to medium. We both received an over cooked, tough, dry and fatty piece of meat that resembled a bad pork chop. It was covered in a cherry sauce to hid its appearance and disguise the flavor. Ambiance and service were fine, but based on our experience with the entree, we won’t be back.

What happened to this place?! We used to love coming here, visited numerous times last year for anniversary, special occasion, entertaining guests etc. Our recent visit was such a contrast to past ones. They couldn’t figure out our reservation and then when we said we spoke to a gentleman they nodded and said “ not surprised, he’s known for this.” But we were seated no problem because the place was nearly empty anyways. Terrible service, kept having to check with kitchen on questions and then recommended dishes were quite frankly awful. When we let her know the vegetable salads she’d recommended were inedible she simply shrugged. We’d planned to stay for dessert and wine, but asked for the check after all the starters and small plates were so bad. This place went downhill fast. So disappointed, used to be a favorite of ours in Big Sky

The service was beyond terrible. Only one other table when we got there and yet we waited 45 mins for our drinks. My husband ordered the second cocktail off of the menu and was told they had never heard of such a drink. Then ordered a beer off of the menu that after much delay they told us they were out of, and then tried to order a PBR which the waitress had never heard of. He had to order his PBR at the bar to get any help. If the staff were busy we would understand but the restaurant was awkwardly empty. The food was really good but coupled with the terrible service , it didn’t seem worth it for the price. We were also on our honeymoon and this was a gift. When we tried to pay with our gift certificate it was also faced with obstacles. The waitress asked us to come back the next morning to talk to someone who could help us with the gift certificate. We live in 1.5 hours away, driving all the way back so someone could help us the following day, when there should of been someone who could help us while we were there. The entire experience was frustrating and disappointing.

We were there April 16 so it was a slow time. We were the people at the only table in the section we were, so it was like having your own private restaurant. Which is kind of cool or kind of creepy, depending on how you look at it. The food was really mediocre; burned the trout, got new fish, not burned but tasteless. Scallops were fishy, risotto was hard. The waitress was very nice and replaced both but in the end, not worth the money. She even didn't charge us for the scallops but I'd rather pay for good food than get bad food for free. Might be a better experience when it is busier.

It was very underwhelming. Limited menu for Valentine's Day, which I understand, but it was never communicated on the website, confirmation over phone, or text confirmation. We had planned on the normal dinner menu, so the limited options were disappointing. We ordered salads and never got them, the server was nice, but a bit scattered. Bison tenderloin was cooked nicely and tasted good, just nothing to write home about.

My wife and I stayed several nights at Rainbow Ranch Lodge. We planned our Valentine's Day dinner at Wild Caddis which we have eaten at before. We were disappointed. I believe this is a result of being understaffed. but we naturally expected more as we have experienced in the past. The staff who was working did an excellent job but could not do it all.

Wild Caddis was good, not great. We walked in and there was no receptionist at the podium. We found her finally and we were taken to our table. We were received by one of the wait staff members initially, but that person never waited on us even though he said he would be our waiter. Got the wait staff person sorted out and then started the dining experience. Our waiter was cordial and friendly and said he was going to do this and that but there were long durations of time between said events. The place was not busy, so service should have been more attentive. He was always coming be to fill water glasses, but it took him a long time and when the water pitcher ran dry, it took a long time for him to return with a full pitcher. All the pitchers at the water station were empty and they should have been full. Mixed drinks were great. Food was great, but there were some concerns about the Wagyu beef being grade A9. For the money paid the whole experience should have been a lot better.

Everything was delicious for the 4 of us. We shared many things from the menu family style and truly enjoyed the meal. Only suggestion is that they update their website as they change their menus. We reviewed their menu selections on their website before we went (as one of us has diet restrictions), and that menu was long gone and we were presented with significantly different choices. In the end, it was all good, but for a moment there was serious disappointment that we could not get what we planned to order. The Whiskey flight was great.

We were in town not only celebrating the holidays; but, also celebrating the second annual adoption day of our youngest two. Reservations were made far in advance for the five of us that traveled from Florida. That evening our son and nephew were able to meet us for supper. We arrived early and waited a few moments before a gentleman haphazardly approached to greet us and that was about the extent of excitement. We stated we had two extra bodies and expressed we wholly understood if that increased our wait. No lie…the guy rolled his eyes at us and mumbled something as he turned on his heel and walked away. (My husband dropped us off and proceeded to park during this encounter.) So upon this gentleman’s return, he conveyed something along the lines that our table was ready. All I did was turn around to see if my husband had walked in yet and before I could turn around the host says, “well are you ready or not?” and before I could respond, he rolled his eyes again and walked off! My husband was standing there and so we began to follow him, except when we walked through the archway, he was nowhere to be found; however, there was a table nicely set for the seven of us. My husband stood until he returned and asked if this was our table, he nods and walks on by. Just to be clear, he looked a lot like the bartender and my daughter believes they’re twins. (Hopefully not in demeanor though.) Our waitress was abundantly pleasant; however, the service was so slow. I don’t hold her entirely accountable, as the establishment looked as though everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. After an extensive wait we were able to place our order. After an even more extensive wait we received our food. Aside from the charcuterie and fondue, every single dish was cold. Out of seven plates, every single item of food had a temperature close to being pulled straight out of the refrigerator. Maybe it’s covid, but this establishment needs an overhaul in hospitality.

We go here every thanksgiving and really look forward to it. This year was a Thanksgiving buffet. The food was mediocre at best, dried out and $65 a person. We’ve eaten here at least 10 times over the years and have never been disappointed until now. We’ll give them a pass due to Covid and likely being under staffed. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come.

To be fair, it was a holiday buffet. Appeared to be short staffed and got very little help- had to go to bar myself and get a beverage at the request of server. Food was cold and they ran out of turkey. With so little attention, could have easily just left, but of course, asked for the check and got up to find my own pen before leaving. Felt bad for some staff as it appeared a few were working really hard. Will try it again with NL menu.

I really wanted to love my experience at this restaurant and the food was AMAZING, but a frustrated server really ruined the experience. I blame management for not being there to help support or coach the server when he needed clearly needed it. 1- If the restaurant is short staffed, they could have adjusted their reservation availability in open table to have the same number of reservations but more spread out. It was clear the hostess was really trying to help the server clear and reset tables and offer water so he was only left to do the drinks and food order. 2-had the waiter had a better attitude, although he was spread incredibly thin, guests would have left happy. Instead, I watched multiple tables get frustrated when he left the table. I know this is a really challenging time but as someone who has been in hospitality my entire career, we are still in the business of providing an enjoyable experience. No one pays $100+ per person to listen to their angry server all night. We are all human and people have bad days, but it doesn’t mean as a server you should take your problems out on their guests. I hope he gets some better support from his company and managers and perhaps some coaching. It would have been really great to see a manager or someone help the poor guy out!
