The wait staff was excellent, some of our dishes were just ok and for the price point I would expect a bit better. Have been going there for many years and was always a favorite, but I do hope things improve.

The food was delicious and presented in a very nice way. They seemed short staffed so the service was delayed and not the most attentive but still was good and pleasant. Definitely recommend for a nice evening out if you have no other constraints.

This was probably the best meal we had while skiing at Big Sky. Definitely worth the drive down the mountain for this restaurant. Initially it was a little off putting as there was no one to greet us and our waiter seemed confused at first that we were seated, but eventually that smoothed out. The menu is nice and the entrees are very large, so come with an appetite. The food tasted very good and they have an extensive and unusual wine list. It is pricey though, and seems out of whack with what the market should bear, but maybe because most of the other options are pretty poor.

Wild CaddisResponded 5 days agoLauren---we're so pleased you were able to enjoy our extensive wine list while dining with us. We hope you'll come visit us again on your next ski trip to Big Sky!

The good: we were given a tour of their wine cellar which was interesting and informative. We had a nice bottle of wine. Our waiter was attentive and concerned. The bad: food in general was not good. Halibut at $60 was overpriced and way overcooked. Stick with the appetizers which were better the main course.

The service at this restaurant was absolutely horrendous. We had a party of 6 people and every single food item came out 30 minutes apart and basically every single food item was wrong. The waiter we had was beyond rude. Never came out and explained that there was an issue with the kitchen or apologized for the wait. At the end he tried to save himself and say there was a large party downstairs - even though the entire restaurant was completely empty. It was overall a horrible experience with a terrible waitstaff.

Food is tasty but overpriced. Could have used a bartender. Long wait for drinks. It was so quiet in the restaurant that you could hear other patrons’ conversations. Live music on a Saturday night would help liven the somber mood.

Amazing dinner!! Soo fresh, so delicious! The salads were divine and the entrees were perfect! I had the halibut- fresh and excellently prepared with a mouthwatering lemon butter sauce that complemented the potatoes green beans and mushrooms!! The waiter- Christian - was so attentive and thoughtful. Amd the chef brought our dinners out! Honestly - one of the best dining experiences in big sky! The dining area- rustic and charming- amd a warm fire to retire to in the bar after dinner We will definitely be returning!! Well worth the short short drive from big sky!

Restaurant was nearly empty. Server was haughty and didn’t come back to table to check on each course. After explicit discussion re allergy, still served a dish to one member of our party w the allergen included and obvious. Service was also incredibly slow. When we ordered iced tea, we were told they don’t serve that but we could get s hot tea w ice on the side! So we ordered that and the Server never brought it. The food was not worth the price and frankly just wasn’t that good. All in all a bad experience. I’ve never left a review this poor but this place deserves it.

Service was super slow - our burrata appetizer came out before our bottle of wine - the wine took forever. Waiter was very professional and experienced with what to say - but did not redeem the slow service and or issues with the steak. Even though the temperature of the steak was not his fault. Steaks were overcooked - we asked for rare plus/medium rare, but they were medium well and tough. Sent back first steak, only to wait 25-30 minutes to receive the 2nd steak which was the exact same medium well. We were starving and just ate it. Also, had just been waiting for so long. Salads were inconsistent even though we ordered the same - one had too much dressing and one did not have enough. Scallops were very good, as was the duck. It was my birthday. Although even with the super slow service and waiting and waiting to be served, we still had to pay for the desert - it would have been a very nice gesture to have received a complimentary desert not only for my birthday, but to make up for the experience.

We were excited to dine at the Wild Caddis based on a recommendation. We enjoyed our food but the overall experience was a bit of a letdown. The ambiance was not there. The dining room needs an update. The waiter was new and was not very well trained. I don’t think he brought the right dish to the right person once. He knew nothing about the menu. That all said, we may try it again in warmer weather to take advantage of the outside dining area (beautiful) and hope for a better waiter.

We used to LOVE this restaurant--it was our go to place for special family meals and anniversary celebrations. But the last several meals were not up to the previous standards both in terms of service and in terms of the quality of food. The night we recently had dinner all doors and windows were open which might have been lovely were it not for the fact that it was much too warm and there were annoying flies buzzing around our table. The salad and appetizer were good. The bison entree was also nicely prepared (but very overpriced even by Big Sky standards). The halibut entrees were so over-cooked as to be inedible. The chef, a lovely man, came out to apologize and one entree was taken off the bill, which was a nice response. Even the bread service was not top quality. So disappointing!

This was our third time eating dinner here, and to put it mildly, it was a big disappointment. We both ordered the $50 veal chop cooked medium rare to medium. We both received an over cooked, tough, dry and fatty piece of meat that resembled a bad pork chop. It was covered in a cherry sauce to hid its appearance and disguise the flavor. Ambiance and service were fine, but based on our experience with the entree, we won’t be back.

What happened to this place?! We used to love coming here, visited numerous times last year for anniversary, special occasion, entertaining guests etc. Our recent visit was such a contrast to past ones. They couldn’t figure out our reservation and then when we said we spoke to a gentleman they nodded and said “ not surprised, he’s known for this.” But we were seated no problem because the place was nearly empty anyways. Terrible service, kept having to check with kitchen on questions and then recommended dishes were quite frankly awful. When we let her know the vegetable salads she’d recommended were inedible she simply shrugged. We’d planned to stay for dessert and wine, but asked for the check after all the starters and small plates were so bad. This place went downhill fast. So disappointed, used to be a favorite of ours in Big Sky

The service was beyond terrible. Only one other table when we got there and yet we waited 45 mins for our drinks. My husband ordered the second cocktail off of the menu and was told they had never heard of such a drink. Then ordered a beer off of the menu that after much delay they told us they were out of, and then tried to order a PBR which the waitress had never heard of. He had to order his PBR at the bar to get any help. If the staff were busy we would understand but the restaurant was awkwardly empty. The food was really good but coupled with the terrible service , it didn’t seem worth it for the price. We were also on our honeymoon and this was a gift. When we tried to pay with our gift certificate it was also faced with obstacles. The waitress asked us to come back the next morning to talk to someone who could help us with the gift certificate. We live in 1.5 hours away, driving all the way back so someone could help us the following day, when there should of been someone who could help us while we were there. The entire experience was frustrating and disappointing.
