I was served the wrong dish but quickly the server offered wine on the house and replaced the plate. Very tasty, nice ambience, will come back
The bruschetta was burnt black, the pizza we ordered was overcooked and it was very burnt and my pasta was floating in oil, I go there very often and they always disappoint in the afternoon and do a better job at night
We came for a birthday celebration. The place was really loud, the service was slow and the food was mediocre (we had a variety of pasta and pizza). The only plus, the cocktails were quite nice!
The service here was impeccable. Our waiter was the best. The free baguette and pesto was a definite plus. Food was great!
Excellent service, great food
It is always a treat to come to Gavinos
Service was excellent and wine recommendations were spot on.
We had a variety of entrees and all were excellent.
Seafood pasta entree was very good.
We game to town for a hockey game and had a wonderful dinner. We had visited the restaurant last year when we were up for a game. Love the food and the atmosphere.
The servers and staff could not have been friendlier or better, which is what pushed my rating to an Outstanding overall.
Tall man at front door (most likely manager) was condescending and unwelcoming....unfortunate because meal and cook who came and talked to us was awesome !!!
We were on a small holiday for March break with our 5 year old daughter. The waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious. We didn't have anything spectacular just Pizza, fries and the meatballs for my daughter and everything we had was super delicious... and as simple as it was... it was super delicious The only complaint I had was how loud it was, but it's a busy spot and we went on a Saturday night. All in all I would definitely go back as the food was superb.
Excellent setting and meal. Home made pasta was awesome!
Fabulous meal. Great server.
Really good portions and delicious taste.
Food was very good but we were seated in the bar, for a date night and for the prices I would have preferred to have quieter dining room seating, especially because it was such a slow night. There were very few patrons downstairs but yet others were being seated upstairs. This was our first trip to Montreal and I don’t think we’d visit this restaurant again with so many other dining choices available. Listening to old rock while seated in the bar did not match our expectations of the place.
The service was A1 , food was great...the only thing was that we were seated right next to a 16 y-o bday party , so it was really noisy
Great service and the food was outstanding. My wife had the lasagna and barely put a dent in it. I had the Chicken Parm and it was outstanding. Pasta was fresh. Salads were great and the bruschetta was outstanding.
WG was recommended to my husband and myself by the hotel concierge. We made reservations online for 8:45pm on a Saturday night and arrived around 8:40pm. At arrival when I stated we had a reservation for 8:45pm the man looked at his Ipad and said oh your table will be ready for 8:45pm not before. It was very rude they way he spoke to us but we let it pass and waited. We finally got seated at around 8:50pm to a small table tucked away in the corner. We then had to wait for the server for about 10mins before anyone came over to us. The server seemed rushed and not very helpful when we asked about vegetarian options. The food was just okay. Nothing amazing and nothing out of the normal.
The service was horrible. We felt rushed and not wanted. Will not be returning.
Is was ok. Big and loud but the food was good. The tables were too low to sit comfortably at though.
I do not usually enjoy Italian restaurants as I do not like pasta, but their pizza was exquisite. Their pasta was also surprisingly amazing! The staff was so courteous and accommodating. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely go again.
I had my birthday dinner here and it was incredible!
Great food, perfect ambiance!...beautiful place!
Je suis allé manger avec mes amis pour mon anniversaire et l’accueil le service, les plats étaient impeccable rien a dire le serveur était professionnel ! Je reviendrai sans hésiter!
Food quality was excellent. The restaurant was very noisy, however (3 floors of seating) and still, there was music playing. Our server made a few errors and I think she just had a difficult time hearing us. No fault to find with the server and hostess/other staff. They were all very obliging. And again, the food was really, really delicious.
I have been here before when traveling to Montreal and have generally enjoyed but this time, our waiter was awful. He was slow, patronizing, and inattentive. Never refilled our water; never refilled our wine; never asked if we needed anything...it was like we were invisible. There are lots of great choices in Montreal - and while the food was good, the service does not make you want to back.
We had been to this place twice for my husband birthday and our anniversary. It’s really nice place to spend some quality time with each other and the food is really good and non expensive. Great service and close to metro station.
I would recommend this restaurant.
What a great warehouse type space-- funky and fun. The food was good and the service was very pleasant: one error in the order just because of the noise in the room, which might be the only drawback. It's great for a lively loud gathering.
My first trip to Montreal and we weren't sure where to eat. Based on other reviews, we made an Open Table reservation at Weinstein & Gavino's. I'm not sure why, but the doorman at our hotel said we should try to sit downstairs (instead of upstairs). We did and it was great. I'm gluten-free and had probably the best GF pasta of my life (penne with pesto sauce). My partner who is not GF, had a veal dish which she said was excellent. Our server, Billy, recommended an Italian red wine which was very good. All in all, Weinstein & Gavino's was a great find for us and I highly recommend it.
Very nice mid-week family meal. The food was very good and plentiful; but the service stood out by being excellent.
We’ll be back to W&G’s!!
Pizza Rustica was amazing! So was the Rose Pasta.
Fresh pasta and pesto. Everything was vibrant.
Went for New Year’s Eve, what a disappointment. VERY limited offerings, and my $50 filet was the worst possible cut imaginable. Disappointed with the evening. Hate putting bad things online, but it was just a poorly executed, organized and hosted event. We left very disappointed and upset with the night.
Came here recently for dinner. We started with the Italian sausage appetizer. The sausage was good and the grilled peppers were also good. A large loaf of French bread is served to your table while you wait for your entrees. The bread was extremely fresh and the dipping oil with chopped parsley was also good.
We had the rib eye steak and lobster Mac and cheese for mains. This is where the meal stared to slide a bit for us. The Mac and cheese had a lot of lobster in it but it was very bland and did not taste like anything.
The rib eye was cooked to the correct temperature but I could not taste the rub that was supposed to be on it and there was a bit too much char on it. Sometimes had almost a burnt taste to it.
Our meal was also very rushed. In less than two minutes after finishing our appetizer our mains were placed in front of us. It is usually customary for restaurants to give you a few minutes to rest between courses.
This kind of reminded us a bit like Olive Garden. Would probably not return and would try a different Italian restaurant.
Not impressed!! We didn’t get our bread until meals almost over. Service slow. Very loud and not great ambiance. Had to pay extra forbrocolli after removing two vegetables from pasta. Asked for extra Parmesan and waitresss wanted 2$ for it. Cancelled it!! For a 300$ bill should not nickel and dime your guests.
We had a fantastic New Years dinner and evening. Amazing service . Definitely be back again !!
Love this restaurant ,Great food , Great ambiance great location , fun place with the family or with your partner either way it's amazing
The meal was good, however an extra for 2.50 when another pasta had the I same I gradients but because the meat sauce was ready and I'm vegetarian could not have that one, so I ordered the plain past with tomatoes sauce and extra olives......why 2.50 for a few olives......and the waiter did not tell me there was a charge for extras......the pasta was ok.....at least the price was right.....
Consistently amazing food !!! As good as it was over 10 years ago.
Amazing experience! Enjoyed a lot and want to go there again. Definitely recommend.
Excellent service and really good food. Was definitely worth the trek.
This was a quick turnaround Toronto-Montreal-Toronto for a birthday dinner. Both meals were notable and the service was great.
