The food, drinks and live music were all great, but our service was awful! First they messed up our reservation time and then they gave us attitude when we asked to accommodate 2 more guests.
I was very disappointed they did not honor our open table reservation. We were told they had no reservations even though our was confirmed the day before. The hostess handled the situation very poorly, clearly they don’t care about our business. We are local and really enjoy listening to the bands that play there. We will not be going back any time soon.
I was very disappointed when we checked in at the restaurant. I told the hostess we had a reservation, she never asked our names and stated “notnin here you don’t”. Another couple was told that “the owner wiped out all the reservations”. The hostess was also very rude when I thanked her for finding us a small high top in the back. I explained that the upcoming band played at our wedding 15 years ago and she responded with a nasty “yes you and about 125 other people in here”. The food was mediocre, we ordered mussels as an app, they were cold. I had a hot and dirty martini that was very bitter, I asked for a burger on a side salad which wasn’t anything special. My husband ordered the steak tips, he said they were good but salty. I reached out to Wick’s via their Facebook page but have received no response.
Group of seven, no issues, food came out timely, was delicious and serving staff very friendly and efficient. Thank you Wicks!
Was very loud, young children in the bar didn’t really impress me that much, but overall it wasn’t bad. Probably more expensive than it should be but it’s close by and an easy take.
We always enjoy going to Wick's when our friend's band plays. the drinks are excellent and the food is always good but when you get a half veggie and half veggie and sausage pizza and you have one piece of a pepper and a sliver of onion per slice on a $24.00 pizza it's kind of a bummer! The pizza is delicious but a few more ingredients would be a lot better!
On a Friday evening “date night” with my wife the live music, which was pleasant and well performed, was WAY too loud and made for an overall unpleasant dining experience for us unfortunately.
I was really surprised that such a great-looking venue had such poorly prepared food. Scallops were way undercooked on top of overcooked potato patty. Salmon was dry. Even the rice was bad. Regulars just smiled and agreed this is par for the joint.
Luckily had a great server, Hannah, and the music was cool.
Buzzing eve of music and lots of locals - good food friendly service
Seated and forgotten. Over 30 minutes to get acknowledged and it wasn't that busy when we arrived. Fortunately we got a great waitress but the bar was extremely slow. Over 30 minutes to get a drink.
Food was ok, nothing special. Upon arrival we were excited, nice decor, but all downhill from there.
Will not go back.
Jump Ship was a great band! And the Fenway Park pizza was delicious!
We decided to try Wick's after a movie (the theater is in the same building, so very convenient). The service was excellent and the mussels appetizer was very good. However, I went for a "safe" choice and got the mushroom burger. Although the flavors were good, it was impossible to eat as the condiments (lettuce, tomato and onion) were cut so thick and the bun was puny so you couldn't pick it up or eat it as a burger. Next time, I will go with the even safer choice of one of their pizzas.
I tried calling several times to make a reservation, but no one picked up the phone and the voicemail box was full. So I used OpenTable to make a reservation. When we arrived they had no idea what we were talking about. We ordered burgers, they took over an hour. Some were okay, but I ordered mine medium rare and it was medium well.
Generally a good place with good food and reasonably priced. Not sure why not great this time. We will try again as food was good and it seemed more to be staffing issue.
Only one small hiccup - which was the computer system or iPad system was down when we arrived, so they couldn't locate our reservation. Not a big deal. Restaurant is super loud especially with music playing, even from the farthest corner. Food was tasty and we got local seafoods. Drinks were tasty too, but didn't look as I expected something "muddled with fruit" to look.
The food itself was very good but it was certain side aspects that made it worse. The service was fast and our waiter was ver very nice.
Wick's is a real stand-by in Marblehead. We go often, meet friends there, dine after the movies (theater and restaurant are in the same building), or just grab a drink at the bar. Service is good, space is good, and the wait staff is great. Food is pretty good (burgers are outstanding). I highly recommend this place as a neighborhood staple!
Hierloon carrots with goat cheese and grape reduction were a special taste sensation. Seared scallops small plate could not have be more deliciously succulent! And our third app was muscles with garlic wine sauce, with flavorful grape tomatoes tucked away and hiding out within some of the muscles for added excitement on your tounge. All in all a delightfully fun treat for our taste buds.
Well Done Wicks!!! Thank you for a special Valentine's Day.
We are seniors so this place is just not a good fit. Most of the seating is at high tops which are difficult for us. It seems to be more for a bar crowd. The scallops were good; the other 2 dinners were not good (steak tips). The service was terribly slow although the waiter was pleasant.
What a great find! Actually, I have been salivating over the pictures from their Instagram account for months! Upbeat energy, amazing live music and solid food make this place a real neighborhood gem that we will surely frequent now that we have moved to he area.
It was a fun place
However beer was not priced and when we got the bill found the beer so o overpriced. It felt sneaky drink up it will cost you!!!
A great casual spot in Marblehead for a good meal. The menu is not extensive and has just been revised. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and the service was efficient. I shared a salad with my wife which was outstanding and had the turkey Reuben which was quite enjoyable. A good choice for a nice meal. Good place for families, too.
The ambience is a great place for a date or meet up with friends. As far as the food went, the pizza was awful. I ordered the soppresata “brick oven” pizza and what I got was dough and oily cheese. No sauce at all. The pizza from Pizza Hut or dominos would have been better and I can’t srand those franchises ! Was very upset to get such a poor quality and tasteless pizza for such a high cost. I would suggest to come here for drinks but not for the pizza.
I have celiac Paid extra for a gluten free pizza & it was raw & terrible Threw the whole thing out
Great time with my family for a post movie dinner. Brussels sprouts were delicious!
There was not one order that came to us as ordered
The food was okay but kitchen totally uncoordinated
Great follow up dinner location for a Movie.
Very simple menu, ideal for quick bit.
This was such a disappointment. We sat outside on the patio as it was a beautiful night, but we were seated right next to a very busy road. It was so loud with cars & trucks barreling by, not to mention the smell of exhaust. The 2 of us ordered 3 appetizers to share, all of which were mediocre at best. Quality did not match the price. The wine list is WAY overpriced! We ordered a bottle to share as this was the cheapest option still costing around $40 (for a $10 bottle). Would never eat here again.
The service wasn't great. We had multiple different people accommodating our table which was a tad bit confusing. Our original waitress rarely came by to check our table. They screwed up our bill by adding on two additional drinks that were not ordered. The drinks, in my opinion weren't up to par.
made a reservation for fathers day. Turned up, and the place was closed. A few groups had to try and figure out last minute plans.
We chose Wick's to celebrate a birthday. The pan seared scallops were off the boat fresh and paired with a yummy parsnip puree. The salmon was also fresh caught and moist. Steak au poivre was outstanding. Tender, aged beef with delicious sauce, topped with asparagus. All meals were expertly presented, making them not only delicious but visually appealing. The ambiance is cozy. Drinks were generous and well made. The burnt brussels sprouts are a must have as an appetizer. I would rate Wick's a solid 10. Server was friendly, the food and drinks were delivered in a timely fashion. We had a wonderful experience at Wick's. We have been there several times before and this level of quality remains steady. Very highly recommend!
This was our second and most likely last time dining here. Noise level was on the loud side, limited menu two of our meals were ok but the other two although looking appealing were not; one being over cooked and the other under cooked! The truffle fries were the only item all of us liked along with the bread pre meal. Doesn't seem to know what kind of restaurant it is, pizza parlor or fine dining.
This visit to Wicks was my first as well as the group of friends who I dine with every two weeks. We were all pleasantly surprised to find the welcome, service and the food to be very good. Our waitress, Hanna, was most helpful in explaining some of the items on the menu as well as the wine list. We will be sure to visit Wicks again over the spring and summer months,
a few of us went for Sunday brunch, the hostess was very pleasant, the food good, waitstaff awful, I believe she forgot to put in our order, after having to wait for almost an hour .. one in our party went to check on it, the manager came to our table to say how sorry he was and did offer us another drink while we waited...he come back again to talk to us. the food did finally arrive however at no time did the waitress ever apologize say she was sorry for our having to wait... though I may go back to the restaurant the group said no. Wick's will have to work on better training in customer service........the manager and hostess could not have been nicer but it is the waitstaff that you deal with and sets the tone as to whether you will return.....
Great fun and food at Wicks. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly.
The table was ready for our group, the waitstaff attentive but not overly, the food and wine (we had flatbread and a Malbec) was excellent. The atmosphere was fun, we sat near the bar.
We will definitely go back with a group or just to sit at the bar for dinner or appetizers.
A lot of kinks to work out!! Brick oven pizza place - no pizza dough - "something happened to it" was the explanation. Took a long time for someone to come over to greet us & take a drink order, the waiter actually forgot to take the order of 1 person in our party, he had to wait until the other drinks were served to order his. Meals were not brought out at the same time, I waited an extra 10 minutes for my meal - the rest of the party were almost done eating when mine arrived. Salads came out with the dinners instead of before, ordered no fries - replace with brussel sprouts - got fries. Onion rings were supposed to be with the filet - got fries. Overall experience, not good except for the bread you had to snack on & the drinks.
Good casual place. Food good, service lacking. Overall, acceptable for a quick bite or dinner with the kids.
Celebrated a birthday with family and friends....Our new favorite restaurant in Marblehead!
