The Wicked Oyster
The original structure houses our main dining room and it dates back to 1750. The building was floated across the bay from Billingsgate Island, which is now a mere sandbar visible only at low tide.
Through the years additions were made to the building as it went from residence to restaurant. There were quite a few popular restaurants here, but one of the most beloved was, undeniably, the Wellfleet Oyster House.
While adding our own touch to the building we are careful to honor its rich history and keep the comfort of a Cape Cod home.
Great environment for a romantic meal.
The food was amazing and service was good. It was a very nice menu.
We dine at The Wicked Oyster several times a month.
They always seat you immediately. The service is always outstanding!
The food is delicious, as well as the cocktails.
Love this place!!!
I had a salad with duck confit, which was pretty tough and dry. It was clearly reheated. I would have preferred it if they had fulfilled my request to chop up the lettuce before serving it, but I managed. But I loved the artichoke and spinach dip and the mousse parfait. My guest was pleased with her dish. Our server was attentive and pleasant.
Charming atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Ladies Birthday dinner!
Greeting was cold and somewhat off-putting! We were struggling to get uber so we’re going to be late. Called. No answer. Called again. Finally got through. Let them know we’d be late. Older hostess/greeter was not nice abt our tardiness (20 mins) even though I called. Was not a happy start. Server was not warm and fuzzy. All business and abrupt. Did not need to be.
We visited a number of times with 2 people up to eight including two in high chairs. Each time we are taken care of without batting an eyelash.
Just recently two of us visited on a busy Saturday evening. No problems and another enjoyable evening with excellent creative food servings.
We had been looking forward to trying the WO for some time . Will try again but somewhat disappointed in the food. All four of us were disappointed in the grilled romaine salad—3 soggy and one undercooked. Three fish entrees were good but the full dinner portion of the ahi tuna was smaller than most appetizer portions I typically have seen.
Never disappoints! Service to presentation, quality to taste!
I love this restaurant and everything about it. Tonight I tried something different: fish and chips. Not my favorite. Fish too thin and dried out. So I'll know better next time. There's plenty to love here.
The fish is the freshest and so expertly, yet simply prepared. This is our favorite restaurant on the Cape!
We went there to celebrate with my newly married brother-in-law and his new wife and had an excellent time. The place was very busy but never seemed noisy or rushed. The food was excellent, warm bread served when we sat down and our waiter was very attentive. Highly recommend the Wicked Oyster!
Our last day on Cape Cod and I finally found a good restaurant to eat a decent dinner... Every other restaurant we visited was way over priced for not so good food and horrible ambience... thank you for caring to make a difference and for outstanding food, service, atmosphere❣️❣️❣️
Each year we visit the cape and each year we eat one meal at the wicked oyster. It is my favorite restaurant anywhere. Previous favorite in Puerto Vallarta closed. The food is always thoughtful and taste structure complex. They bring sweet sour and savory to their dishes in thoughtful ways. Try the calamari, which you have had hundreds of times and you will wonder how they can make this dish better than anyone out on CC. I love the duck, the cod, the risotto is strikingly goood, the halibut and actually I like everything. The menu is not huge, doesn’t vary greatly but it is perfected. We eat there once a year to keep it special and savored.
The best meal we had in a week on the outer cape. Truly excellent from beginning to end
Waitress could have been better. Had a very loud table next to us.
Nice presentation, food flavorful, diverse & large wine list. Good value overall in an area where most of the restaurants are counter & picnic bench.
Very bad view and the position of table wasnt suitable at all, ground was shaky, sliding and not leveled.
Dinner was mediocre, as was the hostess and waitress. We noted that it was our anniversary on our reservation and no mention at dinner.
The most uncomfortable chairs of any restaurant we went to while on vacation. We will still make this one of our stops every year but it would be great if the seats were changed
Sole is extraordinary. Halibut also terrific. One of our most favorite places on the Cape.
Great service, reasonably priced for quality on Cape, but....the heirloom tomato salad app was something of a disappointment, with, as I recall two grape tomatoes and a small but very good corn pudding. A little skimpy.
We are never disappointed with the quality and creative preparation of the food at The Wicked Oyster!
A culinary gem in little Wellfleet MA.
The food was amazing! I recommended to every one I met at our hotel and will visit again if we come back to the area.
Great food, attentive service. All round favorite of ours in Wellfleet ( for dinner)
Never tried breakfast or lunch.
Always reliable! Had a lovely meal with excellent service. One of my favorites on this end of the Cape
What happened to the food? Is there a different chef? This was always a great place, many dished were covered in sweet sauces (filet mignon floating in goopy, sweetness), sushi grade tuna with spices so hot on it, it was inedible, (again with sweet sauces), duck got great reviews and obviously sweet sauces complement it. MORE of a spice or SAUCE, doesn’t make it better. Very disappointing for one of our favorite haunts.
Service was still very good, and quaint atmosphere.
Everything was excellent- I would have preferred the dining room however no one else in my party felt that way
Unfortunately the restaurant seemed over booked and understaffed. We had to wait too long for our main course. The food was good, the waitress attentive and she acknowledged the long wait.
Fabulous. So many wonderful dishes to choose from. I could eat there every night. The desserts were spectacular and I don’t usually eat them.
We enjoyed our meal at the Wicked Oyster very much. Our server (Gloria?) was outstanding. Cocktails were delicious and our dinner was very filling. The lazy lobster could have been a little more lazy - it really took some pulling to get it out of its shell - and the gnocchi were a little tough, but everything else we had was very good.
Nice table, excellent attentive waitress!
Friendly, warm,, good food.
I wish the ladies at the front desk would be more friendly and welcoming.
Terrific food in a casual atmosphere. Very reasonably priced for the cuisine.
Service friendly and prompt but we found the food underseasoned
Not enough options for non seafood diners. French fries served were over cooked and soggy. We asked for replacement and the same were served. Server should have not brought them the first time.
I find most restaurants are not attentive to couples. They prefer tables of 4 or 6
Fantastic food, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented. We had the corn pudding and heirloom tomato appetizer. A delectable blend and well-balanced medley of flavors. For the entrees, we had the filet mignon and pan fried sole..so amazingly good we dined there 2 nights in a row! The wait staff, especially Hanna, were friendly, prompt, courteous, timely. The best restaurant I've dined at on the Cape.
Nice last dinner for a weekend in Cape Cod
