This was our 3rd time at the restaurant and it lived up to our perceptions from previous visits. We have done a "graze" the past two times having multiple appetizers and dessert. This visit was a traditional, shared appetizer, salad, and main. The food was excellent, the service appropriate, and the overall experience wonderful.
Wonderful staff excellent food for any occasion I highly recommend Whitehouse Crawford
We had an excellent dinner. Our waitress, Crystal, was attentive, smiling, friendly and well, just great! Our dinners were perfect, Blue Valley Meats Pork Chop (it was huge and done as ordered!) and Japanese Style Fried Chicken (excellent!) We had been traveling for two weeks, this dinner was an excellent way to bring our vacation to a close.
Excellent food as always!! Great atmosphere! I will definitely be a return customer!!
Love this place!! The atmosphere and service were five star, but we found menu a little obscure. Would love to see simpler preparation using same ingredients.
Food and wine were lovely. Enjoyed the wine recommendation by James. Great location but very loud at dinner.
Wonderful evening with delicious food for a festive Thanksgiving evening!
WC hits it out of the park with their yearly Italian week and a flight of Italian wines. Authentic plates deliciously prepared. Service is elegant but not fussy. You don't want to miss the antipasto, homemade pasta or osso bucco. Regular menu still available. This restaurant continues to impress.
Fabulous food made even better by cheerful, friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and exceptionally competent staff.
I had an excellent vegetarian “greens taco”. I can’t beginner to describe how much I loved it!! My husband had the salmon....excellent! We love the atmosphere here; they were very busy but accommodating when the fourth person in our party was a little late for our reservation.
Knowing absolutely nothing about Walla Walla I randomly chose this place on a vacation. Was absolutely wonderful and we would totally come back again
My husband and I went to WHC for dinner to celebrate a special day. I was very satisfied with the service; our waiter was extremely attentive and very polite. This was our second visit. My husband loves the ambiance.
We usually go to WHC for special events as it is a bit spendy. After reading the reviews, I had to try the Japanese Chicken. It was very good. My wife had the tenderloin and it was excellent!
Loved the service, food and atmosphere. A perfect place to celebrate our 28th Anniversary. Thanks to the chefs who work so hard to make delicious food! The Manager and our server, Rex, we’re especially friendly and helpful. Thank you!
The waitress we had was outstanding and the food, well try for yourself. You will not leave dissatisfied .
Ate at the lovely little bar. Great bartender! Pumpkin soup one the best soups in a very long time. Other courses excellent. This restaurant keeps on getting better and better.
Sitting at the Chef’s counter was a unique experience in that we observed the food prep team in action. Great care went into each and every plate. Friendly staff, great character former wood mill environment. Definitely recommend!
We went for our anniversary and we were disappointed. The staff seemed poorly trained. The tuna was so overdone it was mostly inedible. Our cheese plate was frigid and warmed up just to time to be whisked away by the waitress before we finished it. This restaurant looks like it should be classy and delicious but it missed the mark on both of those. We witnessed another customer chewing out the manager over poor service. Our meal was overpriced and we can't recommend this to anyone.
The ambiance is nice, and the history of the building is fascinating. Other plusses: The fried sweet onion appetizer was delicious, and the cocktails were quite good. Unfortunately, our entrees were just so-so, especially considering the prices. The pork chop was overcooked and unremarkable. The Japanese fried chicken was pretty tasty, but it's fried chicken. Hard to mess that up, and available for much cheaper elsewhere.
This was my third visit to Whitehouse-Crawford and each time the service was great, food was delicious and the ambiance was warm and inviting. Convenient location and superior wine list.
Crystal is lovely and made the evening flow without a hitch. One thing I found odd was that most of the appetizers have an asian flair yet that isn't the style of the restaurant.
The food is always great all the times we have visited Whitehouse-Crawford. The basket of fried onions are a favorite for starters. We enjoy the meals we have ordered and will continue to return.
Onion rings were amazing. Japanese style fried chicken also really good and my husband had the filet and was very happy with the prep. Got the twice baked chocolate for dessert. Crazy great combo of textures and flavors
Food was wonderful! The dining area is big and open, great spots for parties and (amazingly) not noisy and easily still feels intimate.
This is usually our go to spot in Walla Walla, but menu changes and service quality have both gone downhill. Will probably not be returning the next time we are in Walla a Walla. For the price point, I expect better quality.
When in the region, fine dining is part of the wine and dine experience.
We had high hopes, and the setting, ambience and service is very good and compares to good restaurant in big cities. Unfortunately the food was very poor. Starters were good, and original using regional products like onions, salads, etc. The main courses were also nicely presented but the pork chop was dry and bland, the chicken over cooked and dry, and the wagyu beef over cooked (well done, but requested medium rare). This really put a damper on the evening. Further more the service, while, good, was clearly rushed, to get the second seating for the evening in. We will not go back. I assume enough people pass through for the "once in a blue moon wine thing" and hence such experience may not affect their business.
WE HAD EATEN AT THIS RESTAURANT ON A PREVIOUS VISIT TO WALLA WALLA. SO OUR IMPRESSION GOING IN WAS VERY GOOD. UNFORTUNATELY ON THIS EVENING WE WERE VERY STUNNED AND DISAPPOINTED IN OUR DINING EXPERIANCE. TO START, OUR APPETIZER AND SALADS WERE VERY GOOD. HOWEVER, SERVICE WAS VERY SLOW AND ERRATIC. IT SEEMED THE RESTAURANT WAS SHORT STAFFED. OUR MAIN ENTREES WERE A TOTAL DISASTER. MY WIFE ORDERED SALMON. AFTER OVER 30 MINUTES FROM FINISHING MY SALAD THE MANAGER LET US KNOW THAT THEY WERE OUT OF SALMON AND WANTED TO SUBSTITUTE HER FISH WITH AHI TUNA. FINE. THEN WE SAT AND WAITED. AFTER GETTING OUR SERVERS ATTENTION TO ORDER ANOTHER GLASS OF WINE EACH WE ACTUALLY FINISHED THAT SECOND GLASS BEFORE OUR ENTREES ARRIVED AND WE WERE JUST SIPPING! WHEN OUR ENTREES FINALLY WERE DELIVERED MY FOOD WAS COLD. THE LAMB WAS TOUGH AND DRY AS MY MEAL WAS OBVIOUSLY PREPARED WELL IN ADVANCE OF BEING TOLD THEY WERE OUT OF SALMON FOR MY WIFE'S MEAL. THEY SLATHERED SAUCES ON THE LAMB TO COVER THEIR MISTAKE. MY WIFE'S AHI TUNA WAS OVER-COOKED AND PREPARED AS YOU MIGHT PREPARE THE SALMON DINNER. AS STATED WE WERE JUST STUNNED. OUR SERVER APPROACHED OUR TABLE SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER THE FOOD ARRIVED AND ASKED HOW THINGS WERE GOING. I SUGGESTED THAT MY MEAL WAS COLD AND NOT VERY GOOD. HE DID MENTION THAT THEY COULD REMAKE MY MEAL BUT BY THAT TIME IT WAS GETTING LATE AS WE HAD ALREADY BEEN AT THE RESTAURANT FOR OVER 2 HOURS. WE JUST DIDN'T HAVE THE TIME. WE WILL BE VERY RELUCTANT TO RETURN TO THIS RESTAURANT ON FUTURE TRIPS TO WALLA WALLA, WA.
The food was good, as was the service. Very friendly and helpful group.
Only downside are the wine prices. Very expensive.
I reserved a table here for our anniversary. We were both looking forward to this dining experience as I hadn't been there in years and she had never been. Let me start by saying that the service was top notch. That being said, my pregnant wife ordered an Asian fried chicken dish that was served raw inside, not once, but twice. They were very good about removing it from the bill and offering free drinks and desserts, however, we will not be returning to this establishment.
We've eaten at Whitehouse-Crawford several times. This last meal and service was the best we've had. Our last experience was not great, but this time they redeemed themselves. From the pacing of the meal to the quality of the food, all top notch. This is the most unique and special event dining in Walla Walla. We will return.
It was good but overpriced
Great food and prompt, courteous service. Good value for the price. We had the waigu (sp?) beef which was amazing!
I have to say that the food experience on our last visit wasn't quite in the same league as it had been on previous visits (the last one about a couple of years ago). It started with the menu, which seems to have shrunk in size and, more obviously, ambition. The starters (squash blossom soup, tomato-melon salad) were very good, but the entrees weren't on the same level. While the ingredients were all top notch, the supposedly medium rare salmon was essentially sashimi with a sear on it; fortunately, we like sashimi... but the kitchen clearly dropped the ball here. The lamb chops, also supposed to be medium rare, were also very rare, and the dish was lukewarm by the time it hit the table. A friend who joined us later ordered the chicken, and it looked like it came with the same or very similar side of (admittedly expertly cooked) run-of-the-mill vegetables in a mayonnaise-based sauce as the fish. Not very ambitious, we definitely had come to expect more. The restaurant's main dining room was not overly busy, but there was a large party in a separate room (next to the winery); this may help explain the gaps in execution. All in all, it was not bad, don't get me wrong, but in order to be more in line with the beautiful ambiance and the price level, the menu and the kitchen clearly could use some work.
Great food in a great space. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The building is an old wood milling place, converted to a restaurant with great ambiance. (Half of the building is occupied by a winery.)
As always, Jamie and his crew exceeded all expectations. Delicious menu with some inspired Asian dishes plus the old favorites. A tradition for our Walla Walla visits.
Excellent food, as always. However, I always feel like I didn't get enough food. I'm an active person and although small, very hungry. I think next time I'll order a side of mashed potatoes!
So disappointed in our dining experience. We had a reservation, were seated late, and were pretty much ignored our entire service. We were a larger party so we knew we would have gratuity added to our meal and it felt that's how our service was reflected. Once we made our orders it took almost an hour just to get soup and salad. We were never asked how our food was, how it tasted or if there was anything we needed. We were given our bills before we were even asked if we wanted dessert. The food was flavorful, seasoned well except the onion strings were a bit salty. They did split everything we ordered which was thoughtful but overall I don't think I can recommend this restaurant which is disappointing since I did research and was recommended this restaurant by locals when we were wine tasting today.
Beautiful space for a nice meal in wine country. Lamb was a bit tough but the food had nice flavor.
Great find! Japanese chicken and onion rings were exceptional. Great ambience, renovated Mill.
Great space and delicious food! We asked to sit at chef's counter and enjoyed watching the professionals work. We had squash blossom soup, Vietnamese fried calamari and warm spinach salad with trout, bacon and sweet onions. Wow!!
