Whitefriar Grill, with its funky New York vibe and modern Irish cuisine is now one of Dublin’s hottest steakhouse grill destinations for casual dining, best brunch, meaty steaks and great cocktails. Located on Aungier Street at the top of the Dublin 2 creative quarter it’s open every evening for dinner and at weekends from 10:30am for Brunch. We cater for group dining and WFG can be hired exclusively for wedding celebrations or birthday parties with enough notice.
Although the waitress was nice, the service was very slow and we had to say /ask for things a few times. Food wasn’t worth the money, mine was cold. In comparison to other places around town for brunch it just doesn’t measure up.
Waitress asked to take order 2 time when we were clearl6 waiting for the rest of the table to arrive. Order was lost. Waited an hour for food to arrive after asking for the delay. Was compensated with the toughest waffles I've ever had. Would need a steak knife to cut through. Wrong bill sent to table. Pot of tea was clearly topped up with water only. No fresh teabag added. Was very weak. Very poor experience.
This is a lovely restaurant with a nice vibe according to reviews, which is why I booked it for my husband's birthday celebration. The menu is limited and we didn't fancy Sammy of the starters so went straight to other main course and ordered the chicken and celeraic after ordering two beers. After an hour we still hadn't received our main course and we summoned the waiter who apologised profusely but offered no excuse or remedy. It eventually arrived after about an hour and quarter since ordering. The food was very nice. We then ordered the cheesecake which was all we fancied on the desert menu to be told no sorry no cheesecake!!!! Disillusioned we asked for the bill. It's a limited menu so all should be available. In fairness the drinks were taken off the bill, but I booked s night for a special occasion and that was not delivered. Unfortunately my first visit to Whitefriar Grill will probably be my last.
The menu is quite limited however it caters for everybody at the same time.
Very happy with the quality of food and wine! Will definitely be back.
Love going here for brunch, tasty food, friendly service!
It was our first time here as we heard good things from a friend. We went there for brunch and ordered gambas benedict and scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon. Food was not seasoned well and tasted bland. The place was too noisy for me to even hear myself talking. The best thing about Whitefriar Grill was the service. We were served by attentive, quick and friendly staffs. I would not stop anyone from going because it could have been just an isolated mistake but I would not recommend it either. Will I come back? Only if someone invited me there.
Lovely Saturday morning breakfast. The staff are fantastic, extremely good at their jobs and pleasant. Food was delicious!! The noise level was a little annoying at times but that cant always be controlled. I would definitely visit again.
Excellent food as always. We always tend to celebrate occasions in Whitefriar grill, the food is consistently good, atmosphere is great as is the service.
Previously enjoyed (and recommended) but underwhelmed by poor service and lukewarm food on this visit.
This place has completely gone downhill since our last visit.
We visited for brunch on Sunday morning but left very disappointed with the food. Stale muffins on the Eggs Benedict and very poor Huevos Rancheros made up of mostly beans.
Enjoyed our evening here on Saturday 16th. It was busy but the service was still very good. There isn't a lot of choice on the menu, particularly for starters, but the food itself was delicious and generous portions. The tables are far too close together though, to the point we could clearly hear the conversation of the next table. Given the price point of the restaurant it would be better if there were less tables and more space between them to allow for a more comfortable dining experience.
Visited Whitefriar Grill on a Saturday evening for the Early Bird option, which itself was fantastic as it is on the menu until 19:00, which is excellent for a Saturday. Furthermore, the menu had a nice variety for each course and was exceptional value for the quality, portion and service you received, with two courses only costing €23.50 (or three courses for €27.50). The service we received from staff was excellent as they were welcoming, friendly and very attentive (even with a fully booked restaurant)! There was a very warm atmosphere in the place which felt very relaxing without being too quiet! Overall a brilliant experience and will definitely visit again!
Great food and a lively atmosphere. I would highly recommend!
We had Early bird 2 courses. Mussles were small portion and a bit gritty. Friends salad did not look very exciting. €4 for each side as no spud or veg included took good out of early bird. The side portions were also too small (mini pots) . Waiter and service good and what we ate was tasty.
Disappointing experience overall. Of the 3 steaks orded, only 1 was cooked right. 1 was sent back to be cooked a little more and was subsequently forgotten about. A new steak had to then be cooked, which led to 1 person eating long after everyone else had finished. No fresh sides were brought with the second steak to replace the ones that were obviously cold at that stage. 3 of the desserts were supposed to chocolate mousse, but could only be described as bowls of chocolate sauce. Nobody could eat them. The response of the staff was to knock off one dessert and one steak supplement (Total €10), not good enough. And they saw no issue with putting a €40 service charge on the bill. High points were the chicken wings, fish and prawn dishes. They were excellent.
really enjoyed our meal at Whitefriar Grill from the moment we arrived it was all attention to detail. Food and service were excellent. The chicken wings were amazing the meat just fell off the bones and sauce was fantastic
Brought some clients for dinner on a rainy Tuesday night - restaurant was quiet given the weather but excellent service, very nice food and good tunes. Recommended.
Did the early bird...for 2 people with 2 glases of wine...spent 70 euros..not worth it. I paid extra €6 for my stake...it wasnt cooked as i asked and it was so chewy that the stake knife couldnt even cut it..and my fingers were sore.
The wqiter sisnt know what was celeriac stake, my friend ordered this...and it wasnt a stake..it was just minc with a thick piece of celeriac on top.
Cheesecake was flavourless...i felt we wasted the money and was raging as i really wanted a good stake.
Met friends and had a lovely brunch. Everyone enjoyed their food and the general atmosphere but in my opinion the music was a tad high and I personally would have preferred it a little lower. I didn’t say anything to the servers so I guess that’s on me. Overall I really liked Whitefriar Grill and think they are doing a great job.
The staff were lovely and friendly and food was tasty and compared to other restaurants the brunch was very good value for money
It was a great experience. Though we came early we were aloud to sit in and relax while waiting for our other companion. We appreciate the patience as we waited for almost an hour before we gave our order as our companion was delayed.
It was really nice.
The restaurant gave us a great service, and were very helpful. Amazing Atmosphere, with great settings.
The food, the most important part, was outstanding. I got the rib eye on the bone and it was cooked to perfection, medium rare. The sides and starter were quite unforgettable, but the main star of the show was the Rib eye.
Highly recommended to anyone who loves a good steak.
It was lovely for a relaxed brunch with friends. Nice atmosphere and tasty food.
We went there for brunch and the food was mediocre. Crab cakes were cold and the bread as toasted until it was black.
Cappuccino was not nice/Very weak. Food itself was tasty, with obviously good produce.
Young man serving us was very nice and efficient. Music was cheesy and did not match the restaurant at all - cotton-eyed joe.
Either a bad night or the standards have slipped a lot since my last visit. I'll start with the good; the ribs were top notch. The steaks were mediocre, and the pepper sauce was insipid. The home fries side was small and looked like they came frozen in a bag. It was very expensive for what we got. We told our waitress that the food was "just ok", and she just said "oh, hmm" and wandered off. We won't be going back in a hurry.
Was surprised and disappointed that the restaurant had no high chairs and there was no mention of the when I was making the booking. My food wasn’t very hot and the eggs were a little under done. The other tow peoples food was delicious.
Had a lovely time, friendly staff and good overall casual atmosphere. Enjoyed the meal. The only problem we all shared was that the mains could have been a bit hotter.
Brunch. Tasty as always.
Ok, nice enough. Food good but pricey had better for less. Good for pre theatre
Great Thursday night early bird menu. The food was really good with lots of variety available and loads of flavor on starters and mains.
Food was excellent (No waffles available :( which was disappointing) only issue (besides the waffles) was that the server never returned after giving the food to see if we needed anything and had forgotten to give us water for the table. I'm putting this down to it being new years day and quite busy. Staff were very pleasant
Went for New Years brunch. Food was very tasty, and service was really friendly. All in all, decent value for money and a nice place.
my new favourite restaurant. I went here on NYE with my boyfriend & it was incredible, we both were so stuffed after it & extremely happy with our food. I am very fussy when it comes to food but this was just amazing. We went in and our table wasn't ready so we went next door & grabbed a drink, when we came back they gave us free bubbly to say sorry, the staff are exceptional, so friendly & helpful. It was a nice romantic evening in the perfect location. 100% will be going back & I'd recommend this to anyone especially steak lovers.
Little restaurant with good food.
Very Noisy, but we were there at Dec. 31st
A very good experience. Service and staff were great. Food was high quality also. One small flaw and I’m knit picking here is that the sides were a little cold when brought out but other than that I can’t fault it.
Service is great, staff are really nice and accommodating. Food is delicious albeit a little pricey. We will definitely be back again.
Situated a bit outside of the touristic area, this is a very good place if you’re into meat! We had the 30oz steak and it was cooked to perfection!
