At Whiteclover, our signature restaurant, we celebrate the simple, the honest and the local. We celebrate quiet moments and laughter-filled hours. Newly-forged marriages and reborn kinships. Small gestures that cause just a ripple. And grand ones that will never be forgotten.
A love of what surrounds us is Whiteclover’s inspiration—the ocean depths, the farm fields tilled by generations, signature flavors like lobsters and blueberries made wondrous in the hands of chefs, bakers and local purveyors preserving authentic foods.
Seasonal menus seize the best of the hour to craft culinary “oceanside memories made in Maine.”

Resort Casual Attire
seared, asparagus tips, black truffle risotto
pinkham's clams, house bacon, spi garden herbs
pea purée, burnt butter sauce, new carrots
Honestly just very bland expensive food. It had a nice view and great service but the food was bad and so was the atmosphere
limited wine & beer list, our sole entree was average, crab cakes & Caesar salad were great!
Unfortunately, Whiteclover is not as good as it’s predecessor 88.
Mediocre wine list
Chef should watch YouTube on how to sauté scallops
Disappointing would be a true statement concerning the overall experience.
We dined there on 6/23/2021 and had a bad experience. I ordered the “grilled lobster” which was actually boiled. The plate was so full of water that the potatoes and corn were in eatable. For $53 in a white table cloth restaurant this was totally unacceptable. On a price for value this should get zero stars
The food was delicious, but on the pricey side. The dining room is a lovely old fashioned wood paneled room.
The restaurant is very nice. We had a corner window table. The view of the bay and sunset were spectacular. The service was mediocre. We had to ask to be offered a cocktail and once we ordered they didn't come until after our meal. They did comp the cocktails because of the delay. The food was good, probably not as good as it should have been for the price.
We had a terrific dinner at White Clover celebrating my mothers 80th birthday. Service was wonderful....very attentive and all of our food was excellent....we had scallops over truffle risotto, flat iron steak with sweet potato puree and sole with asparagus! In the morning we all had the avocado toast with eggs and it was unique and superb.
Amazing view, excellent service and food. Wonderful evening.
My wife and I decided to go to SPI on our anniversary. This was the second time we went since it’s change in kitchen. My wife had the halibut entree which was cooked perfectly and was pleased to find that she could substitute vegetable s from another entree. I had the chicken entree which could have used additional vegetables and less potatoes. All in all, the meal was very good but not exceptional.
Our food was forgotten, then one entree was stone cold and had to be remade. We ended up missing our show at the Opera House. The server apologized but didn’t offer any compensation or service recovery. My husband had to ask for his meal to be compensated, which they did. Upon checkout we shared our experience and that we missed our show because of it and the check out person apologized for the inconvenience and gave us our room balance all in the same breath. We were disappointed.
We chose this restaurant during our vacation to Boothbay Harbor. This was a suggestion for a high end restaurant for the area. The atmosphere and view were impeccable. The service was great with our waiter being very attentive. The two major problems we had were the food was just so so. The drinks though flavorful and tasty after 2 premium cosmopolitans I didn’t even feel a buzz on an empty stomach. It was like there was no alcohol in the drinks. I’m not sure if it’s a storage issue or something else but being on vacation we were hoping for a relaxing feel good time. Didn’t go for a third drink there, headed back to the resort for a real drink.
We had the WORST server ever. She never brought our wine, water, bread, dessert.
We had to keep asking another server for everything, even though we clearly explained to her that we needed her to stop by our table.
The restaurant was half full. She ruined our experience
We have gone to the Spruce Point Inn for several years for our anniversary. We’ve always thought it was top-shelf, but this year was a huge disappointment. We won’t go back. We had to return both of our entrees because they were barely at room temperature. They replaced them, but with no apologies extended. Our server had an attitude. And our entrees were far smaller than previous years. All in all, not a good experience. Maybe it was the result of new ownership, but whatever the case, it was unfortunate. Oh, well...
What a wonderful dining experience with a new sunrise and view over Boothbay Hatbor! We enjoyed a delightful dinner that we will always remember.
Food was very good. Swordfish was terrific. Beautiful setting, with water views. Quiet.
We ate at this restaurant on our arrival night at the hotel. We had a wonderful window seat and watched the sunset. The food was delicious, and it was a great way to end our travel day and start our vacation at the Inn.
Very special place! Excellent value!
I would not recommend this restaurant.....Food was not good......but it will close after this
season so you don't have to worry about it
A beautiful site, fabulous view, great service. Unfortunately the food was poor by any reasonable standard. The mussels were the best part of the meal as the appetizer, I would rate them three on a scale of ten. Both entrees had to be sent back, inedible! The staff agreed as they must have been salted two or three times. Staff apologised and did not charge us. It was too late to order something else as our reservation was for eight thirty. For a drink and the sunset this place is great! Just don't expect a good meal.
My wife and I went to SPI for my birthday. The restaurant has changed hands since our last visit. Gone are the complimentary cocktail and appetizer but the price of dinner remained about the same thus reducing the overall value of the meal. My wife had a shrimp and pasta entree in which the pasta was undercooked and the shrimp over cooked. The kitchen should have realized this before the plate was served. My halibut entree was excellent and beautifully plated. Wait staff was cordial and attentive .
Great food and view!
The room was quite nice great view over the bay. Food was excellent and the service was good the waitress was new and a bit unsure of things but asked someone when she did not have answers which will help her in the future.
Such a wonderful place to spend for your special occasion aka 30th Wedding Anniversary. Had asked in advance for table to see the sunset. They set it up with no other set by us. Food was delicious from the clam chowder, main course and the homemade blueberry pie. A most place of you are in Boothbay Harbor area.
We are returning diners at 88 (from Virginia) and big fans of the entire Spruce Point Inn experience. As always, we truly enjoyed. Food is fresh, well seasoned, and properly served. The servers are attentive and well informed. But it's the view and ambiance that set the place apart... extraordinary. Would highly recommend.
For the price, the food and service was below expectations.
Upscale part of Spruce Point Inn. Worth the visit. Greatviews. Good local selections. Scallops were tremendous. Nice selection of wines. The chef does a great job with the sauces and preparation. Save room for some blueberry pie.
The 88 Reastaurant offers excellent food and service in a lovely oceanside setting. It’s a place where you can dress for a special occasion and not be out of place. Every meal comes with special touches not normally offered in Maine restaurants. It is my wife and my go to place to celebrate birthdays or our anniversary.
My husband and I came here for an anniversary dinner and it was spectacular. Great food, service and views. We got a complimentary specialty cocktail along with an appetizer that were both very good. I highly recommend the Spruce Inn for a Saturday date or any special occasion.
Ocean views and a wonderful dining experience. Creative cocktails and food presentation. Sent us home with a beautifully wrapped sweet treat for the next day.
My wife and I celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary at Spruce Point Inn last night. We had a great meal and the service was outstanding.
What a wonderful surprise! The whole experience far exceeded my expectations. Some of the best food I've had in a while and the service was impeccable. We'd eaten at another respected restaurant in town the night before and paid a similar price but "88" was far superior. The only slight negative was, as it was a Wednesday in late September, there were only 3 other couples in the restaurant and the music, if there was any, was very quiet so everyone was whispering. Highly recommend.
Not too bad - nothing outstanding - but, pretty solid. You’d go for the view and to change it up so to speak ( get dressed up a tad for a special dinner ) If expectations are kept in check - you’d be fine. Tons of other places would be equal or better - great view however - that said, I’d choose something a little more cozy and intimate if it were a special date night.
It was great al around. The best!
Beautiful setting overlooking the ocean, good wine list will go back.
We are a sophisticated family from Europe. We eat at top Michelin star restaurants all over the world with kids. All were dressed in sport jackets and collar shirts for men and boys. Dresses for girls. The hostess got our table wrong and thought we had table for 2 even though our opentable said 6. They proceeded to say our expensive pants looked too much like jeans. They said our Yeezy designer shoes were too much like tennis shoes. They refused to seat us. We were forced to eat alone in a freezing room and mistakes were made on our order and the food was average at best. For a resort hotel, in Maine, the pretentiousness was comical. I really feel this experience was beyond disappointing. When I walked thru the dining room to see how others were dressed I saw cheap casual clothes from Target or Walmart. Maybe we were profiled or discriminated against. Shame on he staff for letting this happen.
Excellent spot on the water...wonderful food and service!
This is our favorite restaurant for special occasions. The ambiance on the water’s edge is breathtaking. The service is outstanding. My wife and I both had the halibut which was beyond our expectations. Go here at least once for the best meal and service in mid coast Maine.
Service was terrific.. food was definitely hit and miss..salad was absolutely tasteless..salmon was good although a piece large enough for two.. scallops were almost inedible...
Love this place. Never disappoints. Their unique cocktails are amazing. Loved their lemon margaritas. The Pemaquid mussels were delicious as was the arugula salad and seared halibut. The halibut was just the best I ever had. Also had the tiramisu special dessert--there was just nothing that could be improved for me. I know some folks are put off by the dress code situation but for me, I like knowing for a special night that the atmosphere is elegant all around.
