We didn't need the reservation - when we arrived it said seat yourself - maybe it's different at busier times? Food and beer was great - only downside was the pizza oven was broken and that's why we really wanted to go.
They have just about the best pizza I have ever had. You know pizza is good when you could just eat the crust and be happy. We also got a beet salad that was delicious and fresh. So, the food is great; we were craving more pizza the next day, but they were closed (it was Monday) so we couldn't get our pizza fix before heading home. Beer is also very good and fun, as you can try similar beer styles with different yeasts, which lets you see how the yeast can influence the flavor.
My only criticism is that they had one bartender working Sunday night and she was obviously overwhelmed. We originally sat at the bar, and it took a very, very long time before she took our beer order. We had reservations, but their system (or Open Table's system) was screwed up, so they didn't have anyone's information and it was a busy night. However, the male host/manager tried his best to accommodate us and eventually got us a table (we needed a sit down table for back issue reasons vs. a bar seat) and comped our beet salad. You could tell he was working hard to try to please all the customers. Our waitress was okay...very young and I had to eventually get up and find her to get water. I sense that this lab that is now a brewery and restaurant is still trying to figure out the restaurant service part. Despite that, we'll definitely be back as the food and beer was amazing, and they tried their best on service, which I suspect will only improve as time goes on.
All in all really good. Lunch was seat yourself and no one came over for a while and we had to find our own menus. But once someone came over they were wonderful and timely. The food was absolutely outstanding. Worth it.
We just moved to Asheville and I drive by this place every day. So I chatted with my work mates and they highly recommended it. For the price, it would be great to have full service even if you are eating on the patio instead of ordering at the bar. While it was a little spendy, every thing we had was amazing!!

Great food and beverages, and service - beer is unique for those interested in the effect that yeast plays in brewing. White Labs is a go-to destination when guests are in town, a convenient place to gather with local friends - especially before a Tourists game. Ample parking is a HUGE plus.
This was my second time at the White Lab. We took a friend and she loved it. She had the fried chicken sandwich which I think she will be eating for a week. The food and beer was great
We had the ferment board and the sausage pizza, both excellent. Great selection of beer as well. The atmosphere is a bit crowded (on Sat. night) and quite loud... as long as that's ok with you, I highly recommend.
Very good! Our party of 3 had a regular pizza, a gluten-free pizza, beet salads, a pilsner, and wine. The regular pizza was greatly improved from our first visit. Their previous problem with soggy centers has been remedied with success. (Thanks WLK&T!) The gluten-free pizza is as good as gf pizza gets. Beet salad is delicious. Beer selections are excellent, wine selections sufficient. We passed on dessert. Good service.

The pizza was good, not enough toppings to cover the pizza. Shrimp Diaovlo, small portion, few shrimp and over the top hot. Four bite heirloom salad, $9?? Service was top notch and beer and cocktails were good. Liked the esthetics!
Enjoyed my meal and experience here. Many different menu options and they were all great! We especially loved my sons sausage and pepperoni pizza. Wings were tasty as well. Beer flights super fun. The service was great and they accommodated all of my requests. Highly recommend.
Beer was average to “meh”. Beet Salad was good. Pizza was mushy and burned all at the same time. Late afternoon sun pours in windows, no shades. Bring your sunglasses.
You walk into the restaurant and the first thing you notice is the noise. It is very loud in this restaurant. Cement floor and metal ceiling. We were seated at a long table and shortly after, a party of four was seated next to us. I enjoyed that because it gave us a chance to meet new people. We had the beet salad and the mushroom pizza with additional toppings. Both were very good. The crust was not too thick even though they place special emphasis on the fermentation of the crust. We found the waitress to not be very knowledgeable about the menu. The beer was not great, which was disappointing, but I imagine everyone's taste in this regard is very different.
The beet and goat cheese salad is fantastic, as always. This time, the pizza crust wasn't its usual crispy delight. The toppings are always tasty, but when they make the crust soggy, they diminish the overall effect.
Pizzas were wood fired and excellent. Crusts were outstanding as they should have been considering they are made with the yeast from the laboratory. Server was outstanding with a through knowledge of the company and menu. All homemade and well worth a try.
Excellent everything! Chris was a fabulous server. Plenty of food and interesting choices. Loved it all. Desserts were fab!
Food was great - couldn’t decide what to order, so we over-ordered and took home for leftovers. Loves the menu and could see this being a place for everyday/midweek food or if friends come to town and just want a laid back place with good eats.
Took the kids here and we were greeted by the host who was very nice. My husband got us drinks at the bar. When I asked the bartender about something on the drink menu she seemed to be very put out for some reason. Maybe she was having a really bad day but she wasn’t very nice. Our table was ready so my husband went to cash out at the bar while we sat. It was not overly crowded but for some reason it took forever for them to give my husband his check.
Our server was very nice and answered all of our questions. Didn’t have any issues with him. We were seated next to the window and the sun was blaring down on us and we couldn’t even see. I would suggest some blinds for when the sun is shooting through the windows.
Food was average. We got three pizzas to share, cauliflower salad and fries. Pizzas were good but nothing overly special. Salad was a few pieces of overly dressed lettuce and some cauliflower. Fries were good but nothing special.
McKenna was an awesome server. We had a great experience! Food and service was spot on. Keep up the good work!

Best Pizza I have ever had in my life and I am picky about pizza! Our server, August was so much fun. He helped us choose our beers and answered our pizza questions. Each of us had a different type of pizza and we were all delighted with the quality of ingredients and taste. It is loud so if you want to increase your chances of hearing your friends, sit at the banquet seating on the wall. We did a flight of dark beer which went perfectly with our pizza. It was a great time and I will be back!
I think my only complaint is that the place is really loud. The menu has some items that are familiar and comforting and some that are interesting and exotic. The pizza crust is excellent. Salads very good. Lots of drink options.
We have eaten here each time we visit Asheville and appreciate the attention to detail such as the charcuterie board.
One of our favorite places in Asheville. Flights of beer show off their beer making contributions and the food is wonderful. It complements the beer, but is great in its own right.

Known for their yeasts, White Labs is doing some very creative things besides beer with said yeasts. Their food is just as delicious as their beer, and their servers are in tune with pairing the beer with the food.
White Labs will be a regular stop for us on our visits to Asheville.
We finally got over to White Labs to try the food. We were not disappointed. We both had pizza and it was some of the best in Asheville. The beer was great and so was the service. We will definitely be back.
We were really excited to try this place because we home brew, have used white labs yeast before, and thought it was a cool concept for a lab + kitchen and tap room.
Unfortunately the food just wasn’t up to our expectations. The pizza was so soggy in the entire center that it ripped apart from the slice when you pulled it away from the pie. Good flavor, but too soggy and too wet to distinguish what was what.
The poutine was so salty we had to stop eating it. It was also a very large order and expensive for what it was, a half order at $7 would’ve made more sense. The gravy was also congealed.
The beet salad was good, it was our favorite dish, but the beets were pickled, which is a different taste than roasted and one, that reminds me of an out of the can taste.
White Labs features creative, innovative cuisine with lots of flavors, some comfortingly familiar and others that will take your taste buds to exotic and wonderful new places. I had the deviled eggs three ways and the mushroom pizza - both were excellent.
Very good pizza selection with their 72 hour fermented pizza dough. Beer selection is very unique in that you can select the same beer made with different yeasts from tap and they are very different. My only issues was that it has hard surfaces and that makes it very noisy.
We love the pizza and beer. Our go to place for a casual evening out.
Enjoyed the food, but the service we received made the entire group (7 of us) feel like we were a bother. No one bothered to ask us if we needed help when we walked in (we had reservations) and barely visited the table during our visit. Really disappointed since I had to go to the trouble to make reservations and more preplanning than a normal visit. My money spends just like everyone else's so am not sure why the staff could not be bothered to do their job and just help us get the food and drinks we were interested in. The food was great, but I will be spending my money other places that are more welcoming. Customer service matters. And now that I have read other reviews, it looks like the poor service is a trend in this place. It's unfortunate.
White Lab gets pizza right. Excellent char on tasty crust, fresh toppings—it was so good. Interesting (daily special) butter bean, roasted broccoli salad. We are going back. It is noisy, lots of hard surfaces. Service is a tad slow, not terrible but noticeable.
Great little spot off the main area. Food was very good. The wood fired pizza was flavorful and the chicken sandwich was good, a little salty but still unique. The beer flight options were nice as well.
I would return but probably not until they open the outdoor seating. GO LOCAL card not accepted. Very noisy. Food was very good. Their website suggests that you must make reservations - you do not. In fact, it appeared that most diners were drop-ins.
We haven't given up on this local bar and restaurant, but our first experience was not great. Getting a table was disorganized despite there were quite a few empty tables. Once we sat we waited well over 15 minutes before anyone came to give us water or discuss the menu, and that was only after we flagged a waiter and asked(which he did not provide but said someone else would be with us). Five minutes later a server came to the table. Once they engaged, service was great, but if we had not been there with my older mom, we definitely would have left and found somewhere else to go at that point. The food came out quickly once ordered, except one of the main courses was forgotten by the kitchen and our food sat on the counter for ten minutes (while they sorted out the error) before they brought it to table and apologized that one entree would be delayed. Everyone enjoyed the food overall. The Poutine was tasty and the serving was massive. The teen boys enjoyed the burger and chicken sandwich and my mom enjoyed the appetizer (Pizza Fritte) so much she ordered that for her entree. The exception to the food quality was the late entree (gnochi) which was very bland and uninteresting---like in the rush they forgot seasoning or other key ingredients. The beer was great and they were generous with tastings, though the cocktail a too-sweet Old Fashioned, was mediocre. We will probably give them another try, but not for a family birthday dinner after a long day of work.
Enjoyed our White Labs Kitchen dinning experience. We went for lunch and were very pleased with the food, service and beer. Not a big venue or menu but what they offered was well prepared and presented at a very good price. We will definitely go back.
Great casual food, tasty pizzas with awesome sourdough crust. Amazing bread! Unique and
interesting, beer selection, but ordering drinks was a slow slog. Waitress brought samples then did not return for long time to take drink orders. Very attractive space. Contemporary, and spare decor. We were there for late day sun, and that was uncomfortable. It was hot and the sun's glare painful. You really need some window shades!
