White Dog Cafe - Wayne Ratings and Reviews
Sat at the bar with our favorite bartender Alex. There were 5 of us that easily fit around the end of the bar with plenty of room to eat. Had humus and deviled eggs for appetizers. My dinner was the chicken with mushrooms. It was delicious. My friend had the Shad special which was great. Its a popular spot so make reservations.
Love this place every time I come here. My only complaint was that I packed my fried pickles, and our server never put a lid on the sauce, so it should all over the takeout container by the time I got home, ten minutes later. The food is always delicious, though!
So good, every time. Ambience was just right on New Year's Eve this year. Server (Katie) did an outstanding job of taking care of us - we have allergy issues and she was so great at making it a great meal despite our limitations. Such a great restaurant decor-wise, ambience, great cocktails and the food is always spot-on. I bring all my relatives here when they visit and it never lets down. Love it.
Went for NYE for the 3rd year in a row. They sat us right away but the server seemed annoyed/not happy to be there. I have a dairy allergy and the allergy menu had no entrees that were dairy free. It took some back and forth with the kitchen but finally we found the scallops could be altered. Our first drinks were good, suggest the Honey Mule. The Smokey and the Bandito was undrinkable. Food was delicious. Just wish we were treated better.
We went for dinner early (6pm)on New Years Eve. The place was hopping so we had a 10 minute wait for our table. Service at the table was slow as far as ordering but food came out promptly once our order was placed. Everything was delicious although my sister thought the carrots could have been cooked more in her beef stew. My husband and brother in law had the scallops. These were a special and although they tasted delicious the price was exorbitant. The portion was small - only 4 scallops for close to forty dollars. Overall it was a lovely place to gather on New Year's Eve but bring your wallet.
Had a great family brunch there with our daughters who were in town for the holidays. Usually we brunch at a restaurant in Philadelphia but have to say the brunch at the White Dog in Wayne was superb in every way. Great table, great service and fantastic meals for each of us. The menu selection was varied and interesting. We’ll be back ASAP. They rocked it!
Service was great but there is no way to justify the price. The quality of food is good - for a foodie it’s slightly under par. No seasoning on the chicken and “medium-rare” steak was completely raw. Luckily the quality of steak helped counter balance the doneness.
Food was ok, not outstanding; service was fine; noise level was outrageous.
I would never go back because of that issue.
We were a table of 4, sitting in what appeared to be a 'library' setting, away from the even-more-noisy bar. It was a mid-week, very busy night. We dined about 7:30 pm, and could only hear (some of) the conversation of our guests if we leaned over our food, towards them... very disconcerting.
Wine list was limited... almost impossible to find a decent wine under $40 a bottle.
Entrée prices were also a bit 'heavy-handed'... in fact, they were equal, or more expensive than if we actually were dining at a downtown restaurant.
Sigh... I remember many wonderful dinners at the original White Dog on Sansom, but I guess it's true... you can never return to your youth.
This place is one of my go-to favorites. It’s better on a regular day, we went on Christmas Eve and the food was not as hot as it should be and the service was not as good because they were very busy . That said, we still had a great time and it was delicious.
