Server was rude and short with us. Food was mediocre. Would avoid dinning again.
The food was alright we wouldn't go back there again. I actually had to send my food back to the kitchen b/c it wasn't cooked right and i ended up order something else
We walked the other day, and my biggest gripe is that the cost of the food is very expensive. I live in the city, so I'm used to paying for food. I just feel like it's nothing special for the price.
The service was great but the food took a king time to come out of the kitchen. The food was so amazing it was totally worth the wait.
Went to White Dog for University City Dining Days with friends. We had an excellent time and a delicious meal! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great meal, great service and a fun time with friends or family. We will be back again.
Food was great and our waitress Rosie was so nice!
Enjoyed the Dining Days promotion - was very crowded though
I’ve been to White Dog several times and it has always been wonderful. The mushroom soup is amazing. The service is usually very good. I had the chicken salad sandwich and made the mistake of thinking it would be all white meat. Not so. The first 3 bites I took had cartilage in it. Not sure who made the chicken salad but hope no one chokes on it. I sent it back and opted for the turkey sandwich. That was wonderful. The waiter was very apologetic and didn’t question. I will return to White Dog again. Just no more chicken salad.
I would have given it 5 stars but the grill was down and we were unable to order the hot food we had wanted. I thought management should have comped with dessert or a drink to make up for the inconvenience. Other than that, our server Eva was excellent!
So glad we had an Open Table gift card!
White Dog was a treat, otherwise a bit overpriced for lunch in our view.
Foodwise, mostly very good, but the chicken on the Cobb salad was tough and dry.
(Sorry to have to say that, but it's true!)
The lamb rigatoni was a good choice, and small portion ample.
Everything was perfect. The service was good and the food was delicious. We got the deviled eggs, mac n’cheese, a summer salad and the steak frites. The steak was the only slightly disappointing part. It was good but didn’t feel like it was worth the value. Overall good and would go again & probably try something else!
This was my first visit to the location in University City and it did not disappoint. We went there for brunch after the Philadelphia Women’s Tri and had a great time. Everything from the local artisan cheese plate to our entrees was delicious.
Food was great. Wait staff a bit odd / quirky. The staff seemed overwhelmed by how busy it was and did not handle a mistake with the drink order
Lovely evening to celebrate a friend's birthday.
I love everything about white dog to staff the service to food excellent it’s also a fun place with the dog decor
Casual and refined setting. Various dining areas. And, most importantly, a separate vegetarian or vegan menu.
Dinner did not start off so great as the waiter dumped my wife’s wine on us as he brought it to the table. He did save most of my martini and replaced the glass of wine.
Dinner got back on course with the soups. I had the mushroom bisque and my wife had the gazpacho. Both were enjoyed. The mushroom may have been better if there were mushroom pieces.
My wife had the black bean burger and I had the salmon.
Both were very good but not great. The bread and butter was good.
we had been to the White Dog Cafe in the past and feel it was one of the better restaurants we had been to. This trip it was just a bit above average.
We enjoyed everything about our dinner here. The service was great, the menu interesting, and the food was delicious. We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful evening. We will definitely be back!
Very nice and cozy - awesome staff
Great atmosphere, noisy, but fun, delicious burgers!
It is a fun eclectic building and the food is quite good, the service is less than stellar, so be forewarned. They are not customer focused or just have too many very green servers.
Great place. Amazing service. Good food. Our server was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable.
Such a cute place! Food was great!
Favorite restaurant in University City!
dining with white dog was a great experience! will be back again
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, as always! Discreet and knowledgeable, suggesting the best dishes for our party. I’d dine there every time if I could.
I had the Salmon in some sort of curry sauce, it was mediocre. The server introduced it as salmon outsourced from a private island which I bought into, however I wasn't impressed. My wife ordered the seasonal deviled eggs which she loved, I tried them as well I have to say they were good. We enjoyed the fried pickles they were perfect. The server was great for most of the experience until he took on a 8 top and we were forgotten, he did apologize for the wait in between, but it appears to guest that you are more interested in chasing the bigger check when you don't check in especially when they are only a table away. He didn't thank us nor did he say goodbye when we left. I asked to speak with the manager at the host stand. I introduced myself as the new concierge of a 4 diamond hotel that has recommended this restaurant many times and thought it robbery to not come try it myself. He thanked me and walked away rather swiftly, not really engaging in the friendly banter expected nor establishing a relationship between a neighboring hotel and restaurant. I will not base my recommendations on my experience as I have had great reviews from guests, however I will not be returning nor will I recommend it to guest that require a high level of service. It would have only taken a minute to hand out a business card and say call me if you ever need anything. #balldropped
Only negative, air conditioning wasn't working well in the room where we were seated.
I am a regular over 15 years, never disappoints me, food delicious and service always tops!
The food is consistently excellent at all the White Dogs. This time it was brunch which is generally why we frequent the WD. Everyone in our party of 4 liked the food and service. The Kennet Square mushroom soup, a signature dish, was, as always, wonderful. Everything else was very good but give the mushroom soup a try as first course. It is special.
Service was mediocre at best.
Restaurant out of bread rolls. Menu, per server, is wrong regarding the drinks they offer with brunch.
When you ask for toast you get a burnt piece of bread. When you ask for tomatoes instead of potatoes- you get two slices of a tomato. Soup was warmish, as was coffee. Eggs were ok.
Not worth the price.
Excellent food and service. Overpriced.
Excellent as always
The trout with beets and horseradish was my favorite over the swordfish spiked with brisket (although the greens with that were *amazing*). You can't select a bad dish here. We had three salads, all great, but different. Vanilla creme brulee with berries "singing dog" was *worth it* (We split 4 ways)
Awesome burger, good wine list.
Super friendly service, great food, creative presentation, fun cocktails. Been a favorite for years.
Chicken was too salty and otherwise tasteless.
We had a very good time and Mark was our experienced waiter who made our meal there informed and effortless. When we requested to be seated at a table that didn't face the garbage cans, staff responded immediately with a good attitude. Bravo, Mark and staff.
I came all the way up from Florida for a reunion with my college roommates and was not going to miss the opportunity to dine at one of my fave restaurants, The White Dog Cafe.
It was as good as ever! The food was scrumptious and the server was flawless.
Can't wait to come back to Philadelphia and dine at TWDC!
Service was attentive and pleasant. Food was unique and very tasty. Tables are too close together. We couldn’t hear each other speak, only the surrounding loud mouth patrons. Noise level is terribly loud.
