Love the farm to table food! Accommodating about food allergies. Outside seating is lovely.
Really nice brunch!
The restaurant was very accommodating and the food was delicious.
The food was fresh and very well prepared. I’m sure the foodie and it checked all my boxes
First time here. The food and service were excellent overall. Unfortunately, we were places in a semi private room with a group of very loud diners. Because of the tight space the noise level was nearly unbearable. Recommended, but if you are sensitive to noise ask to avoid these small rooms.
Met a friend and sat outside. Food was good and music from nearby made it extra fun!
Very cute restaurant with dog theme and decorated with beautiful window boxes with flowers. Sat outside and enjoyed the goat cheese ricotta app and pulled pork sandwich. Good beer selection.
My daughters birthday
The dining room we were seated in was cozy and comfortable. Our server was very friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. We started with the homemade pretzel bread which was wonderful. My husband had the chicken with curry which was very moist and flavorful. The mushroom ravioli was amazing. The peach melba cream puff and the creme brûlée were presented beautifully and tasted as good as they looked. Definitely want to return to try other menu items.
Always a great experience since 3years ago. Food delish but grilled chicken topping on salad was kindda tough😟
Great outdoor spot!
Usually my favorite restaurant ever so I think this was just a bad timing sort of thing. We had to ask multiple servers just to get water and no one came to us for 25+ minutes. Ended up having to take our food to go because we didn’t have time to eat it all by the time it came out.
Came for brunch and had a weird initial experience. When someone in my party went to check in at 10:05 am (reservation was for 10), the hostess informed her that we would be seated in a bit. We noticed people walking in after us and being sat before us. We waited another 10 minutes to ask the status and the hostess said that we weren’t the only ones checking in and there was a queue. Finally I mentioned something to the manager after seeing a party wait no longer than 30 seconds to be sat. We were promptly sat thereafter. The rest of the experience was fine but not sure why the staff were so hesitant to sit us.
$48 new York strip steak was almost too salty to eat and very tough. Salad was extra salty too - not edible. Tuna tartare was not fresh. Ambiance good and expected more since review were so good. Must have been a mistake on the food. But wait staff did not check on us or ask if food was ok. The only edible thing which was very delicious was the house made pretzel bread.
Great atmosphere, service and menu selection. Appetizers and main course were on point (with the exception of the cauliflower Kung pao and tuna entree)
For appetizer and first course ourparty of five shared the deviled egg, pretzel bread, Kung Pao cauliflower and the Goat Cheese Ricotta spread. So delicious and we did a second round of the pretzel bread. The cauliflower was a miss. Texture was there taste definitely not.
Main course standouts were the mushroom ravioli amd pan seared artichoke char. The tuna tataki at $32 was a huge disappointment. Our table ordered 2 of these. Both came with a block of cold sticky rice and the steamed bok-choy was cold as well. Might have gotten passed the dish temperature but the dish in general was flavorless. Tuna was seared perfectly but the grade was not $32 worthy.
Cocktails were amazing. Their bourbon old fashion and house cocktails hit the spot. The burgers looked amazing and wish we would have swapped that for the tuna…will definitely be back.
It's been ages since we were last here and it's still as good as it always was. Unique menu, excellent food, good vibe.
Wonderful outdoor scenery!! The greenery was so beautiful! We dined outdoors the server was very attentive and gave good recommendations. I highly recommend the blackened catfish!! My friend loved her mushroom ravioli and the burgers I saw looked amazing!!
We don't know what happened to the fantastic food at the White Dog, It certainly wasn't served when we were there. Used to love this place now it's mediocre at best and so is the service. Very disappointing.
Great service and food selection.
Food was excellent
Meal excellent - fresh and interesting food
Very pleasant place to have meal
Only negative was a bit loud for dinner
White Dog Cafe is beautifully decorated and cozy! The food is delicious. There is nothing on the menu that one could go wrong with. I’ve been coming to this location for close to 20 years and hoping for many more.
Food is always awesome! Been going there for 20+ years.
We were seated promptly and the service was adequate. The food was very good.
The food was amazing. I had the strawberry shortcake french toast with apple chicken sausage. My friend had the churro waffles. Both we’re absolutely delicious. The vibe was really cool too! They also have amazing service!!
Expectations met and exceeded. Beautiful ingredients, simply and elegantly prepared. One of the best strip steaks I've had in recent memory. At $48, not cheap, but I did not feel cheated in the least.
Excellent food- terrific decor!
Great service-a nice dinner out!
The food was delicious and the service was great. Will definitely come back.
Beautiful restaurant, amazing drinks and food, fantastic service, no complaints whatsoever, before I left I was already talking about when we would be going back! I don’t remember the servers name but he was awesome, attentive but not hovering, my water was always filled. 11/10
We are there twice in a couple of days and loved the ambiance, friendly service and yummy food. Make sure to try the innovative churro waffles, they’re delicious! Great variety for brunch/lunch, including açaí bowl, egg dishes, pancakes and avocado toast. Great coffees and cocktail selection. Love the doggie-themed rooms and respect for masking and social distancing. Outdoor dining is lovely too. It’s clear why this place has been around for so long, we’ll be back!
Went with daughter and enjoyed the food. Ate cheese plate app, Greek salad and blackened catfish, all excellent!
Drinks were strong, which is a pleasant surprise. Specialty drinks are seasonal and interesting, typically using some local things to keep up with their farm-to-table mission.
Service was not as great as I had hoped. Started nicely, but second round should have been offered when first round was emptied, not forty minutes later.
Food and service was excellent. The tables are too close considering the Covid guidelines.
All good. Service was a bit slow.
Crowded at 1:30 for lunch on a wednesday; we waited about 8 minutes to be seated for our reservation, which the host politely explained. Our burger connoisseur gave the double cheddar burger top marks, and the parmesan truffle fries were fabulous. The tandoori chicken wasn't exactly what I expected - thought it would be presented more like a tikka, with vegetables - but it was very good; two chicken thigh/legs on a bed of greens, with roasted green beans, pickled red onion, and hot peppers. Food was a bit slow to come out, but service was attentive and efficient. Definitely will return!
For the quality, way overpriced. Food is just OK.
Cute restaurant. Fresh ingredients although chicken we ordered was very overcooked and dry. Would probably try it again.
Our marginal experience was centered around a painfully slow service of our entrees. We had a round of starters and then had to wait about an hour for our entrees. As a result, buns were soggy, fries were room temp, and the food was not freshly prepared as one would expect. That our bottle of white wine was brought to the table unchilled should have been the red flag. Bad dog!
Bridget was delightful as our server. This was our first visit to this restaurant. It was very fun! We use the trolleys and we were very pleased with the easy walk from the 36th Street station to the White Dog. We were also pleased with the wine list. Very nice for University City! The cheese plate, the beet salad, and the Thai beef and noodles salad was great. The Thai dish is served cold but was really spicy and there was no need for more heat. The Peach Melba creme puff was the best dessert but the Creme Brulee had the best presentation as they had dog treat shaped short bread! Very Fun!!
Great service and food!
Fabulous dog-themed ambiance inside and old-country charm outside, hard to pick where to sit as both options are very appealing. Friendly and accommodating service by what appear to be local students. Loved the Brussels sprouts, truffle fries, beet and arugula salad, salmon Caesar and tuna tartare. Very nice wine and spirits selection, loved the local PA rose. Looking forward to enjoying again, thank you!
