I’ve never had a bad experience at White Dog. Last night was no exception. The waiter was very attentive to my need to eat gluten free, and everyone else in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meals.
Always reliable. Plenty to choose from mid-afternoon. At 4 pm, relaxing & peaceful.
We arrived at 11:30 AM, just after opening, had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated, thanks to some hesitations by the party in front of us, then were quickly seated and started talking, forgetting to look at the menu. The server was very agreeable, and came back a while later, when we had still forgotten to look at the menu. No problem. On the third try we were ready. The food arrived in a timely manner (I think -- we were still talking) and was delicious. I had to go find the server, since I had to leave in a hurry (lost track of the time) but got the bill quickly.
Incredibly slow service; we didn’t even order our meal until at least 45 minutes after arriving. There were not many people there to begin with either. Other than that, the food and drinks were excellent!
Had a great time visiting with a friend on the picnic tables out front. Watermelon cocktails were a nice bonus.
Very nice dinner on a quiet Sunday night. Great ambiance in the bar and cozy dining room. Pretzel bread and Kung pao cauliflower were great. Spicy Bolognaise had way too much sriracha, even for a spicy-food lover. Tandoori chicken was very good. Will go back next time in the UPenn area.
Always lovecoming here for brunch. It was a bit busy so service was slightly on slower side given it was brunch and there was a private event also taking place. Food is always amazing so highly recommend this place for its brunch menu
Restaurant was crowded for Sunday brunch. Seated within 5 min of reservation time. Food was tasty and the server was excellent.
We had a family birthday dinner and everything from service to food to setting was very nice. We have been to The White Dog before and will continue to return.
Very bad experience. Made a reservation for 1:30, did not get seated until after 2pm. Then, when trying to order bottomless brunch, was told that we couldn’t because they had a “hard stop” at 2:30. Had to ask multiple times for the same order because it wasn’t coming out or the waitress didn’t put the order in. Definitely wish we went elsewhere!
The food was so fresh and exceptional! Our server Christine was fantastic and friendly and helped us navigate the expansive brunch choices and made it easier to decide! We enjoyed so much that we are going back tonight for dinner!
This is the only location that consistently has the cauliflower and that’s the only reason I go to white dog café I’m obsessed with it 😂 but I also like the tuna tartare, truffle fries and salmon
I eat here weekly I love the service and food and the quality of it being farm to table
Recommend, recommend, recommend 1000%
Love the restaurant, my family was content with meal. I just wish it was more Vegan options on the menu.
Great place - always high quality!
Love the accommodations!
Helicopters - I imagine, going to and from the hospital were very loud.
Liked everything else very much
Great food, great experience.
I always enjoy brunching at this specific location because they are very generous with their mimosa’s haha. It’s always a good time and the truffle fries are a must have!
Overall the experience was really good. It was warm inside even with the air on. But the service was amazing and the food was delicious and the price for bottomless was GREAT!!!
Excellent meal with husband and teen son! Helpful and knowledgable about gluten-free. Only reason not 5 stars was service was pretty slow, even considering we were dining early when it wasn't very busy.
Had reservation but took forever to be seated. A bunch of empty tables so not sure why. 3 hostesses and all seemed clueless & overwhelmed. They were turning away walk ins when so many tables were empty. Maybe understaffed not sure. The kicker was the know it all, rude, full of himself waiter. I asked if there were any specials and he said in a snotty tone “ everything here is special” and walked away. Use to be one of my favorite places
Neat, eclectic restaurant in old brownstone near Penn campus with diverse menu. Good spot.
We enjoyed a very nice lunch. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my husband had the catfish sandwich. Both were well prepared and delicious. Service was very courteous and helpful.
Must better food and server this time than from the day before.
The food was excellent, fresh and generous portions. The wine was especially good for a single glass and a generous pour.
The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting,
The service however, left something to be desired! Although we finished our appetizer cheese board, it remained on our table throughout. Dinner dishes, clearly finished were left until I had to ask the waitress to remove them. Her reaction told me that it didn't even occur to her that having dirty dishes remain on the table after the check has been settled and you are having a conversation was not a delightful experience. Staff was not overwhelmed. They need to be better trained. Even a bus boy cleaning the table next to us did not make a move to clear our dishes.
Always a favorite spot! Good food and dessert as always!
Went here for a group celebration brunch. It was first time any of us had been to the White Dog and we were all blown away by the food, service (so friendly and attentive) and most of all the ambiance...amazing. We had the artisan cheese plate, salmon toast and heritage tomatoes, all three perfectly presented and delicious. The main course of omelets and french toast had unique combinations that were perfect together. And the staff, we cannot say enough good things. They were just so friendly and accommodating, they made our celebration flawless. We brought a special Anniversary cake which they brought out to us for pictures and then went back and plated it for us. And for the atmosphere, a 12 out of 10. Over the top perfect, especially if you are a dog lover. We can't wait to go back.
Beef noodle salad: beef was fatty. Service was bad. Very slow, not enough servers to service the indoors/outdoors
Fantastic resteraunt! I had made a reservation on OpenTable and they were able to accomodate my request. Staff is very friendly, the service was quick, and the environment was very nice. I highly recommend eating here.
I’ve enjoyed the White Dog since I was a student 30 years ago. Just returned for the first time in about 10 years. It seems to have weathered the pandemic well. Remains cozy, farmhouse chic. Found it incredibly loud in the back when it was full, but noise eased up as the crowd thinned. View out the back windows leaves much to be desired—looks out over a construction trash dump. But the cocktails and food were fantastic. Will return.
Food was excellent , I had salmon , tuna tartare appetizers. My only issue was that the salmon entree could have been warmer. I also had a watermelon margarita. Would definitely go back as the food and service were excellent and atmosphere was charming and unique
Waitress was very busy. She walked by our table many times but never spoke to us or indicated that she would be back soon. So no water, no order taking, for over 15 minutes. Last time she walked by, not seeming to talk to us, my husband snagged her. Although we are understanding about understaffing, there is no excuse for not even speaking to us.
We ordered the pretzel bread. At first it was warm, but when it cooled off, it was dry. I wondered to myself if it had been frozen and then thawed. We ate some of it until it got too dried out.
Service was great however the meal and drink left much to desire. The catfish sandwich was basic af as well as the Mac and cheese. The parm fries were pretty decent as well as the ricotta cheese app.
White Dog was amazing. The food, our service, & the decor was top notch! Will definitely be visiting again.
Excellent service from Christine. Recommendations spot on
Colleen was a phenomenal server and deserves a raise!!!! Best service in Philadelphia within 6 year span of living here!
Very good brunch. We were seated outside and enjoyed the delicious French toast and Lancaster omelette. Service was good. I would highly recommend.
Great menu with freshly sourced ingredients
Went to the White Dog Cafe with my daughter for brunch.
Food was delicious
Server was awesome
Every time I go I get seated in a different spot-This time it was downstairs in the ‘garden room’- so fun!
We started outside on a nice evening which slowly started to look dark and ominous and requested to be moved inside, which the staff was more than willing to accommodate. We loved the atmosphere both outside and in and two of us had the blackened catfish which was delicious!
