Our waiter was the best EVER
Had a lovely birthday celebration. Wish the Waiter was more attentive. But all and all a very nice meal.
Quiet enough for a business meeting, good to great enough to be remembered, priced better than many other upscale restaurants. What else matters? Clearly they care how they're doing. Repeating: Great enough to matter. It's my 1st choice for dining across from Haverford College. Enjoy!
The White Dog is a go to restaurant for me for business lunches. The restaurant is well lit and appointed, and there is space enough between tables for a good conversation. The food is consistently delicious, and the server willing to tweak the menu to accommodate us. My only challenge is noise, as it’s a place and fairly loud. But on whole, good enough to have me coming back again and again.
Consistently delicious food and excellent service. One of my favorite places to always go back to over and over
Great local spot. The food is consistently delicious.
Fabulous and attentive!
This is our second visit there. The food and table service were good. Unremarkable in its category but a perfectly fine place for brunch or dinner. However we had a 12:30 reservation and had to wait 25 minutes to be seated. We almost left.
I have never experienced such a long wait for service in the many times that I have frequented this establishment. The wait time was epic and the server was unapologetic. The staff at the door was numerous and often just standing there and it seemed to me that they could have pitched in and helped out.
No gluten free bread available which was another big disappointment. I almost brought my own, but I talked myself out of it since it has been months since I have had that issue there.
The bacon did not arrive with my breakfast and I had to remind the server that I had ordered it. Additionally, the bacon was not cooked to perfection as it has been every other time, however my poached eggs were delectable and done to my exact specifications. I always appreciate being able to substitute greens for home fries on the Farmer’s Plate.
I am hoping for a better experience next weekend when I dine there yet again.
We had an 8:15 dinner reservation and were seated in a timely manner despite the restaurant being busy. The restaurant’s decor is cozy and the atmosphere was comfortable, if a bit over the top, in its dog theme. I was surprised to learn that one of their cocktails was no longer available that evening. This occurred again come desert when four of the dessert options were sold out. The food that was available was fine, but nothing special. For the restaurant’s pricing, I expected more. On the whole a good, if pricey, experience.
8pm reservation but wasn’t seated until 8:30pm. Was told it would be a few minutes each time I asked- I prefer a restaurant admit at the beginning they are running very behind so I can choose if I want to wait 30 minutes or not. No apologies from host when we were seated. Dining room was unbearably loud, food was overpriced for how meh it was.
Super slow, indifferent service at a non peak time. Food was lukewarm and had obviously been sitting for awhile before being served.
We came for lunch and had reservations for bar seating. We still had to wait at least 15 minutes. The food is very good, though -- I had a very delicious omelette. Service was pleasant if a little slow. I will come back, though. Easy walk to Haverford Campus and good menu.
We had a really bad table right outside of the kitchen. It was really bright and loud. I’m sure that impacted our experience negative way. We did enjoy the bar though
The food is consistently good. The service impeccable. We came with a large group of 9 and had a time constraint for some to get back to campus for an evening event and they were amazingly accommodating.
Fabulous food and service
I definitely would go back! I was there for a lunch meeting with a client and the food, the service everything was great. The seats were a bit low, but that is all part of it. It is also a bit expensive but you got a ton of food!
Overall, nice ambiance. Gnocchi were very dense and rubbery. However, the mushroom soup and salmon entree were very good.
We have eaten at White Dog Cafe in Haverford a few times now and the food and atmosphere are always fantastic! Our waitstaff is always knowledgeable and helpful as well. We will definitely be back and spread the word!
It’s all about the soup! The tacos also made for a pleasant late-afternoon lunch. Very busy; wait staff in weeds. Flat Prosecco. The soup was great!
The service was impeccable and friendly. We arrived an hour early and they found us a table. We even met the chef who helped us decide on our menu selections. He brought a sampling of the choice I didn’t make just for us to have a tasting for the future. Unbelievable. I will be a loyal customer! Everything we ate was delectable and presented perfectly.
Food is always excellent. We enjoyed duck, eggplant parmesan, gnocchi with mushrooms, tuna tartare, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts. Unfortunately, the server missed many opportunities and was saying "I'm sorry" alot. Setting is very comfortable and pleasant.
Great food, great drinks, knowledgeable and friendly servers.
Always welcomed like family. Terrific new fall menu. Kale pear salad fab! Mushroom soup always sublime! Spicy Lamb rigatoni was perfectly cooked and balanced. Bread sadly was odd- perhaps just late-night issue (?). Really terrific wine by glass list, as always.
Wr come here multiple times a year for lunch to celebrate birthdays. The service is always slow. It seems like it is always a 2 hour lunch when even ordering soup and salads. The waitress was very kind but overly attentive in the beginning of the meal and no where to be found come dessert and check time.
The chair i was sitting in had a bad sear, spring in my butt. Management gave me a pillow but otherwise didn't seem to care
All good. Erica waitress is the best!
Good menu. Excellent food. Friendly service. Never disappoints.
Quiet during lunch in bar area
Very poor service- disorganized and haphazard.
Compared to other times we have been to the WD our experience this night was sub-par.
We had reservations and had friends from out of town join us. We showed up 5 minutes early. We were seated in a wooden booth at the bar section. We asked for a table in the restaurant and we were told we would have to wait another 30 minutes. Our guests missed out on the ambiance of the restaurant and had to we sit in the bar with HSN playing on bar TVs. It was embarrassing and such a disappointment. Our server was lovely. Honestly, reservations should never be placed in the bar section.
I have given the Dog two tries. Once good food but poor service, this time it was reversed. The food is incredibly bland. I doubt I will go there again.
Butternut squash soup was excellent! Would have enjoyed more variety on the entrees, but my salmon was very good. More gluten-free options for my husband would have been appreciated. When I made the reservation, I did state it was our wedding anniversary. Coincidentally the couple next to us was also celebrating their anniversary and were given a complimentary dessert. We sadly got nothing.
Another wonderful dinner and celebration. Thank you!
Service was incredibly slow… A salad with grilled chicken at it at $22 is a very high price point for every day lunch. Love the restaurant, food and Decour but I’m always disappointed by the slow service and cost
Food excellent, drink great, comfortable
Only complaint, I ordered a glass of to be served with my dinner, I did not receive the wine and finally saw the mgr walk by and told him to tell the server to cancel my wine order as the other diners at the table were half way thru their dinner.
Also had to request a soup spoon for my first course ,
We will dine with you again and we are sure the next experience will be better
As always, great food and great service. In the future I will avoid going before 7pm on a weekend, as it appears that the cafe has significantly more families with young children. Although I love kids I'd rather not have them screaming through my dinner. :)
The food is perfectly fresh, and I particularly appreciate the honest flavors. The short rib was super tender, and the gravy and vegetables around it were perfectly flavored. No part of the dish overpowered the others. The puff pastry "dog bones" floating on top were delightful and lent lightness to a hearty dish.
