White Dog Cafe-Haverford

I love this eclectic restaurant with a whimsical dog theme. The service was attentive, but not over bearing. The arugula BLT was delicious on fresh bread and the aioli gave it a bit of a kick. The French toast was excellent as was the beet salad with avocado toast . Several of us had strawberry rhubarb Bellini’s but I was especially excited with their mock-tails, as I could not partake in alcohol. The downside was it was noisy and it’s above average prices may be a deterrent for the average person. I highly recommend the restaurant and would go back again for special occasions.
While the food here was great (7 in our party and everyone loved their meals)! the service was totally awful. Our server was pleasant enough, the food great but none of that was enough to make up for the service. Despite having a reservation made 5 months in advance, we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated, when we did sit down it took another 15 minutes for anyone to come to our table. We were given water but had to ask for bread twice. We placed our order and after another 15 minutes our server came to tell us one of the entries was no longer available THEN we waited almost 30 minutes for our food to arrive. All in all the service kind of ruined a special occasion for us (my daughter’s college graduation). If
There had been a line out the door maybe I could understand a little better but there were open tables throughout the night. White Dog has two other locations and I can tell you we won’t be going back to Haverford.
Great food, amazing service. Would definitely go again.
Great place for nice lunch
Went there for Mother’s Day. Quite crowded but we never felt like we did not have enough room. The food was okay - not great but not bad either. My daughter liked the ambiance of the restaurant and there were a lot of kids there. Good place for the family to eat. Not sure I’d go there on date night however. Overall okay.
Delicious Mother’s Day brunch. We came last year and we’ll come again next year :) Lancaster Omelette with crispy bacon- yum.
Our waitress was great and the food was good, but we had reservations and still had to wait 15 minutes for our table. It is frustrating when you make a reservation and still have to wait for your table.
We love the White Dog in Wayne. David provided excellent service and when I mentioned I was gluten free he put in an order for hot gf rolls to go in the oven and come out with our cheese board . I ordered branzino with spring peas and shitake mushrooms . Although the fish was cooked just a tad too long it was very good. I felt the heavy brown stock sauce overpowered the delicate fish so it was a bit of an odd presentation for me . My partner ordered the salmon which was also a bit well done but had great flavor. Creme brulee was excellent and classically prepared. My partner ordered the medjool date and almond tart and it was a very different presentation than in Wayne . He preferred the one in Wayne . This one was very heavy and came in a thick syrup. All in all White Dog is one of our favorites for the fun vibe, good food and great service . We will stick with the Wayne location though.
As always, everything and everyone at this White Dog Cafe was great!
Service was good and the employees were great but the food was below average. For the extraordinary price I expected extraordinary tasting food. But the food was probably comparable to a soup kitchen. Even I can cook far better food than that, and at a fraction of the price.
Very noisy and food seemed overpriced. Service was a little slow as they appeared understaffed to be able to handle the number of people at 6:45.
Table was great. Service was even better. The food was good. Restaurant was not loud so we were able to enjoy a conversation.
Food was over cooked and exceedingly bland. Unfortunate as the space is kind of nice.
Great food and service. A wonderful dining experience overall.
Bee took care of our table and she was great the food and drinks were amazing!
Server never brought bread or brought the happy birthday plate at the end or anything that
Tonight was our first bad experience.
First they said they were out of steak, then they were out of Bronzino- then 15 min later they were out of balsamic vinegar. This was 6:00 on a Sunday.
The crab dip did not appear to have crab but thick cream cheesy mix.
The salmon was dry.
The burger was ok however the truffle fries were very good.
We came many times and no clue what was going on tonight but it will be awhile before we return.
Always reliably great food and service
It was awesome. And the best salmon sliders ever! Great overall experience in every way.
Brunch was great! Perfect for friends visiting from out of town. Great service too.
White Dog never disappoints. Had a delicious meal with great service.
The food was fresh and delicious. Our server was attentive and friendly.
We had a group of ten for Easter dinner and we all enjoyed our meals, the ambiance and the excellent service from our waitress with the lovely British? accent.
Food is excellent, but expect to pay. But everything we had was perfect. Service was excellent as well. From the cheese plate appetizer to the lamb bollegnese everything I had was perfect.
I would recommend White Dog, BUT I would need to be assured that I would not have a table directly across from the kitchen door (which is open at all times). We asked for an alternate table, but there was nothing available. IMO, there should be no table facing into the kitchen. It definitely diminished my enjoyment of our visit. I would likely suggest going to the White Dog in Wayne or University City - both have a nicer layout. Food was good - brunch so hard to really mess up omelets etc. The bloody mary was very good.
I have now eaten at White Dog Cafe in Haverford twice. Once for dinner and once for brunch. Both meals were great and the service pleasant and efficient.
Delicious easter brunch - highly recommend the doughnuts!
Food was great as always! This is my favorite place to come for lunch! The donuts are my favorite!
We went to the White Dog Cafe for Easter Brunch. They had a nice selection of food offerings. Our food was very good and the service was great!
The first course of dinner was awesome. Drinks were too strong. Entrée came out presented beautifully but tasted horrible. Way too many flavors happening all at once. Manager was super nice about getting me a replacement, and the replacement salad was equally as terrible.
The food was excellent and so was the service!
Everything was great!!!!!!
Went here for my mom to meet my sister’s boyfriend. I’ve been here several times and always enjoy myself, love the food!! Delicious. Only problem is that it tends to be noisy but worth it for everything else.
Visit with college aged son
We had a reservation..... had requested a booth in the bar area. The hostess (sorry I cannot remember her name) was incredible. If it had not been for her the meal would have been a negative experience!!!!!!! Because of HER the meal was a great experience.
HELP makes the difference.
They overbooked large parties. Placed us at a table too small for our group. We were obviously sandwiched between two groups of sorority girls. The noise level prohibited any conversation. While food was good, the server did not return once it was delivered. They are not child friendly and had no children’s menu no crayons to keep a 2 year old. We were celebrating my daughters birthday and they charge a 3$ per plate cutting fee, which we were willing to pay, but chose to leave and have the cake at home bc of the crowded and very noisy environment as well as poor server attention. I had to ask for the bill after 20 minutes of waiting once we were done eating. When I described my disappointment to the manager of the poor experience he simply said he was sorry with no type of compensation. When you are dining at a restaurant in this price range, you would expect more patron consideration overall. Not recommended for families or parties.
Vibrant happy hour and great food spot right across the street from Haverford College. Easy parking makes it too easy to pass this place by. Stop in and enjoy!
Great food with vegan and vegetarian options; great service
