Great food and service!! They also happily accommodated dietary requests!! Love the food!
We have been to White Dog many times for various occasions. The food, service, and ambiance is excellent. We have recommended this restaurant to many friends and family.
The White Dog never disappoints. The food is great, the ambiance is wonderful and the service is excellent. You can go more casual at the bar or more formal if you like.
Beautiful restaurant, excellent food, very nice people
I love the White Dog Cafe and I am a frequent visitor when I am in this area. I love that I can get gluten free bread with my meal and that they use high quality, often locally sourced ingredients. I ordered the Farmer's Plate and asked for gluten free bread. It came with a dry multi-grain toast that I had not seen before as a gluten free option. I had to ask for butter. When I took a bite, I felt some doubt as to whether or not the bread was gluten free. I tried another bite or two and then became quite concerned that it might not be gluten free. At that point the waitress came over and I asked her if the bread was gluten free and she said that it looked like a multigrain bread and removed it from my plate. Another server brought out the familiar gluten free rolls to me. Later the waitress came back and said that the bread was gluten free but not baked in a gluten free facility so that there could be some contamination. This was quite upsetting for me because I really did not trust the waitress at that point. I am going to take a break from dinning at the White Dog and then I will be traveling, so I'll try it again when I come back to town.
It took 27 minutes to get the bread basket, oj glass arrived with a chip on the lip, Bloody Mary arrived with Gin despite me specifically requesting Vodka, the biscuits were hard, French toast was eggy and the short rib hash was luke warm at best.
The Butchers cut and mushroom soup were outstanding! The cheese plate and mushroom gnocchi were serviceable but not exciting. The cocktails, wine, and particularly the port were just sublime. Thank you for a lovely evening :-)
The service was good food was great and it was a very pleasant night
Chef Michael Selser is excellent. His homemade chicken white bean soup is excellent. Wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable. The bronzino and pork are excellent. Mud pie is very yummy as are their homemade ice creams.
tHE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS AND OUR SERVER WAS EXCELLENT.
As always, the White Dog Cafe delights! I enjoyed the tofu wraps from the vegetarian menu this time, delicious! I also ordered the beet and arugula salad, vegan. I do wonder if they might consider a little more arugula and beets when you order it without the goat cheese and creme fresh. The salad was insubstantial for the price.
Birthday we did get a plate with dessert with happy birthday written on without asking
Avocado boy is always a winner!
Good as usual. Very well prepared food, helpful staff. Neighborhood gem!
Fantastic as always! Our server Erica was amazing and the food and drinks were out of this world!
We always enjoy our meal at White Dog Haverford, especially when Erica is our server!
Excellent service from door to server
Food was delicious and the desserts were great. Service was a little slow but it was the lunch time.
Our server was spectacular. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I love the sandwich/soup choice.
Family dinner celebrating our middle daughter starting her freshman year at Bryn Mawr! The ambience was fun and the food was definitely yummy! Great place for such a memorable occasion.
I LOVE this place. The food, the service and the decore.
I love the White Dog Cafe because they serve delicious gluten free bread along with their wonderful meals. This time, no toast with my eggs, but two rolls instead. One of the rolls was absolutely perfect and the other one was dry, hard and disappointing. It’s usually hard to find anything at all to complain about, but this time...
Great meal and service
Excellent food, drinks, service. A little pricey, but I guess that's to be expected in this location.
One of the best restaurants in the area! Love the decor and the food is always fantastic; last visit had the mouth-watering, goosebumps-generating whole mouth delicious experience, highly recommended!
It was my first time at this branch of the White Dog. I was very disappointed in the food. My chicken quesadilla had vegetables that seemed like the prior day's leftovers, with no seasoning. The accompanying mushroom soup was flavorless--not even any salt or pepper. My friend also found the shrimp tacos to be just passable, with not much flavor either. Considering the prices, the food was not a good value. The service was fine, the server was attentive.
French fries are always soggy not crisp. It was not possible to have multigrain bread because by noon they were out - bread keeps well in freezer. They should buy more.
This was our 30th wedding anniversary, we came with our children who are early twenties to celebrate our family. We have eaten here 5 weeks earlier and the experience was wonderful. This time we encountered some challenges.
Our appetizers of Hummus and a Charcuterie board were great, nice breads, meats and cheeses.
My wife ordered the Chicken which she had loved at our first meal. The Chicken is farm to table and a very good quality, this time it was overcooked and the meat was powdery, there was far too much sauge, the side were fine but it was a sloppy presentation compared with our first visit.
I ordered the Duck Breast which again was over cooked, the Duck Breast was sliced in half once lenght way which left it really tough and impossible to cut with the table knife which was offered. The sauce was congealed as if had been left under the heat lamp too long.
My son had the Pasta Bolonese and my daughter had the Sweet Corn and Tomato Ravioli, both were adequate but nothing special.
The wine at dinner were exceptional and the coffee was perfect. Our waitress was divine.
The two food experiences were worlds apart. I do not know if the Chef was on vacation or had a bad night.
In this industry consistency is absolutely paramount, this is an expensive restaurant and needs to work on not the quality of the base food product, which is fine, but the consistency of preparation and presentation. Make sure that the quality ingredients you are buying are being treated with respect and love.
Always a wonderful time at this restaurant! We always love it - the food, the ambiance, the attention from the staff- we keep coming back!
Attentive service and imaginative menu. My desert choice was not up to par, however. I should have chose the blueberry crumble instead of the lemon cake, with meager accompaniment.
The staff went out of their way to help us celebrate a special birthday. Everyone had a great meal as well!
Over $30 for 3 Scallops is considerably overpriced, and they were fine, but not exquisite, since only 3 scallops. Short Rib was tasty, once you got around all the fat. $50 steak special was waaay overpriced for what it was. $12 after dinner drink felt unpolished. Random alcohol with a glob of vanilla ice cream, in a tumbler glass, shoulda been more refined.
Nice atmosphere, great for and drinks. Steaks are generally overpriced though.
As always. Great food. Very good service. Love the place.
Awesome restaurant - very cool vibe/decor. We went late afternoon tho, and they only have a limited menu at that time. Wished we had known that before we went.
The food was excellent but the restaurant is too noisy. The noise came from the kitchen as well as guests. Can you keep it down?
A wonderful birthday celebration with a fabulous round table so everyone could se and speak to each other
Food was delicious as always and beautiful setting
We went here for dinner after we moved our daughter into her dorm at Villanova University. We met up with her new roommate and parents. We were met with smiles and greetings. The staff was great. Super friendly. LOVED the atmosphere. Great menu choices to choose from. My daughter has the Maryland crab spaghetti, I had the sea bass and my husband had the scallops. All were amazing. I can’t wait to come back here when we visit for parents weekend.
Celebrated our anniversary at the Haverford White Dog a few nights ago. Our server, Brittany was excellent. We were seated in a back room that was nicely decorated and wood paneled. We enjoyed our dinner, but the noise level is very high in that room - and the room was not at capacity. We noticed that the room we walked through prior to getting to ur seats was a lot quieter. We will probably request that room next time. Our salads were large and our entrees were excellent. I had the duck and my wife had spaghetti with crab meat. Our Sangrias were a nice size and moderately priced. The White Dog is priced on the high side. A couple of salads and entrees with 2 drinks brought the bill to $140 prior to gratuity. So bring your wallet. Overall, we had a nice meal and will go back - probably for Restaurant week when a 3 course meal will be about $40 pp.
