Erika was a great server and she offered spot-on recommendations!
Creative and imaginative environment with a very enlightened menu. Glad to see some viable dining options for the Chester area.
We celebrated my mother's 80th birthday at White Birch on Saturday, February 22, 2020. They gave us the big table with the signature White Birch backdrop. Our waitress was courteous and knowledgeable and the food was delicious. We ordered the octopus, tuna poke, and onion tarte as our first course. The octopus was outstanding! Cooked to perfection! Even my ten year old liked it! We ordered the scallops, sea bass, and duck as our entrees and they did not disappoint! The chef made my ten year old chicken and pasta which was very nice. The wine selection was excellent. All in all, very happy we picked this restaurant to celebrate this momentous occasion!
Food was amazing. Tuna poke bowl was absolutely outstanding. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, including scallops, chicken and duck.
We were disappointed they didn’t have champagne. There was one bottle on the menu, but they didn’t have any, which was odd because the menu is a printed out sheet of paper. Just leave out off if you don’t have it.
Our waitress was perfectly attentive and friendly.
We were seated right next to the bar, if turned out to be a low traffic location, so we’re we’re happy with the location.
What a great experience! Erin was a fantastic server and the food was exceptional. From the amazing bread at the beginning to the amazing dessert, the cocktails and food were all amazing. We’ll be back!
We went to White Birch before our reservation to check out their social hour. We ordered a few apps and were blown away by every component of the duck confit sliders. We were tempted to order another round of sliders but did not want to spoil our dinner. The “Fig You” cocktail was amazing, lightly sweet and full of flavor... perfectly refreshing.
We sat for dinner and we greeted by our server who went over the menu with us (it’s a new menu from the last time we came for dinner). She answered every question we had! We ordered a few appetizers and entrees to share and everything was outstanding. We are typically not venison eaters but you should not miss the sliders or the Wellington, both were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The sliders had a nice touch of goat cheese for a great balance of flavor. The Wellington was wrapped in puff pastry and was so tender- it got better and better with each bite. Our server told us the banana cream pie was a newer dessert menu item so we went for it and we devoured everything on the plate! It was the perfect finisher to an already wonderful experience.
We signed up for the wine dinner while we were there and cannot wait to see what Chef Sam creates for us!
Overall this was a great experience. The food was great and the service very good.
The only negative was the automatically added 25% gratuity. This was a company function and we may get flagged on our expense report.
25% is outrageous even and may be a deterrent for future visits.
This was our second time. Apparently we had the Valentine menu after Valentine's day. Great meal but a little pricey
Friendly, knowledgeable staff at this farm to table restaurant. Food is fresh and creative. The desserts need to improve to match the level of the appetizers and main courses.
This was our first visit to White Birch and it will definitely be on our repeat list.
The dishes are creative and beautifully presented.
The wine list is concise and very affordably priced.
Overall White Birch is perfect for a regular night out or a special occasion. There aren’t too many places that can cover both and this is one of them.
Food was delicious and the service was great!
Our dining experience at White Birch was excellent. Each dish was prepared to perfection and comparable to high end NYC restaurant cuisine. Servers were great, very knowledgeable about the menu, very down-to-earth, and attentive. $20 corking fee which I presume was recently instituted due to them serving alcohol now, however, they still honor BYO and we hope they continue to do that to keep the price of dinner from sky-rocketing and to keep folks returning on a more frequent basis. I can tell a lot of thought and hard work went into this establishment. Staying loyal to the local ingredients is also a very big plus and important to many patrons. I hand it to the chef....very nicely done and we will be back.
Chef Sam continues to pull the right strings, in light of adding a liquor license his already admirable ‘toolbox’. The wine selections were reasonable and well varied and the local craft brews represented NJ’s best accordingly. Special Valentine menu was quite good, albeit it with portions that were surprisingly small (jokingly so for one of the appetizers). Once again we excused this given the well crafted/plated taste combinations, but...
Everything at the White birch was fantastic. The minute we walked in we were greeted with big smiles and awesome people. We arrived early and went to the bar to sample fantastic Valentine's Day featured cocktails. The appetizers were also great and the main course did not leave us disappointed. Of course for the special day we had to try the chocolate desserts. We have been to White Birch before and would recommend it to anyone who can appreciate good food.
What a nice first experience at White Birch!! Erin, our server, was so friendly and informative. She made our dinner lovely! The presentation of food was on point...I would recommend asking for a little extra sauce being that there was very little on the plate. We will definitely go back!
Very flavorful food, nice decor, comfortable seating and our server Erin was super friendly, extremely knowledgeable about the menu and she can make a proper cappuccino. We will be back.
I ate here for lunch. There was only two other tables when we arrived. Both had single guests. Server was friendly and courteous and explained the menu well. Food was outstanding. I had bison steak sandwich which is like a French dip with hand cut chips and pickle. All was very good. I split a side of fried Brussels sprouts with a parm like cheese on top. The side did not come out until we were also finished with our meal. Also Brussels sprouts were burnt. The servers shirt which appears restaurant issued had stains on it. We had got there an hour after they opened so I doubt it was from that day. Overall the meal was very good but uncertain how the wait staff would perform with a full restaurant.
The atmosphere was very European in nature. The wait staff was attentive not only to our table but those around us. They truly were going out of their way to make the dining experience pleasurable for all guests from using detail descriptors for the food selections, adjusting wabbly tables to making sure wine was meeting guest expectations.
The freshness of the ingredients in conjunction with the combinations and level of flavor in every bite made for an artful presentation as well as palatable culinary journey.
It wasn't just having a dinner it was enjoying the bounty of nature.
Overall, White Birch is a pleasant addition to the area. A big thank you and I'll be back!
Amazing place! Thanks a lot for the high quality non-conventional food choices and excellent service.
Service was great
Ambiance was great
Food was AMAZING!!
Food was good, service was lacking. Drinks took too long to order, too long to get, once we finished first drink, it sat empty for a long time until we went and ordered another. Wait service apologized for wait for service and food delivery. Minor but wait staff should note which customer gets which meal. When noted which customer's birthday we (two people) are celebrating, the desert with happy birthday on it should go to the correct person. we don't mind spending a considerable amount of money when we dine out but we expect experienced, good service at this level of a restaurant. Management needs to pay attention to comments as I was hoping for a different experience from what I read on-line.
First time at White Birch but definitely will not be the last. Great to find a well connected locally sourced upscale restaurant to add to the list.
Also had a good pairing of wine with the duck I had.
Will be back soon.
This was our third time here. The first two were extraordinary but that was during harvest season. This time was in the dead of winter. I don’t know if this was the reason that the taste of all dishes were flat. The menu was a better read than the actual finished product. We will give this restaurant another try but this time was a disappointment. Even the drinks were flavorless.
Absolutely top notch! Creative and delicious cuisine in very comfortable setting.
Food was great. A bit noisy. Other than drinks being slow from the bar server Nicole was great.
Food and service were outstanding! Looking forward to bringing my husband next time!
Great tasting creations. Service was great too.
Excellent food, creative menu
My favorite restaurant. If you are looking for run-of-the-mill food, this place is not for you, if you are looking for superbly prepared entrees, that you may have never had the opportunity to try before, relax and enjoy. Social hour 3-6 Tuesday through Friday, is just what this area needed! Wine, cocktails and top shelf appetizer-sized bar snacks at discount prices! ❤️
Outstanding food and service! I only wish it was closer to where I live!
FOOD WAS GOOD ESPECIALLY THE VEGETABLES MY WIFES DUCK BREAST WAS TOUGH AND AFTER DINNER TOLD THE WAITRESS TO WHICH SHE SAID THAT SOMEONE ELSE HAD THE SAME COMPLAINT AND SAID THEY SWITCHED VENDERS. THEY COMPLIMENTED US DESSERT WHICH WAS NICE. THE PLACE JUST DOESNT HAVE A WARM FEELING TO MATCH THE FOOD OFFERED.
7:30 reservation on a Friday is an absolute must. We arrived a minute or two early. The place was packed. Our 4 top was the only available table and after an exceptional cuisine, delicious hand-crafted drinks and locally brewed craft beers, we know why. At first, it felt a tad crowded but honestly, once the drinks were delivered and our first course served, we forgot about any neighboring tables. It was all about the food and our friends. A delicious culinary experience that we’ll savor until we visit again in the very near future!
Dinner on Friday night at 5:00. Place wasn't busy yet. Ordered the Tuna Poke and grilled Octopus to start. Both appetizers were nice portions but nothing special. Ordered the bison steaks as a main course. Both steaks came out overcooked. That was disappointing since they were mentioned as a chef's favorite. Chef apologized and sent a pork cheeks appetizer to the table. Pork cheeks were excellent. It should be offered as a main with gnochi. Steaks were replaced with a properly cooked version and chicken since my partner didn't want another steak. Second steak was delicious. The chicken was very good. Wine corkage is $20 a bottle which is fair. I'd give them another shot but I'm not in a rush to do that.
Service was outstanding. Loved everything about this restaurant!
Great food and great service. I would go back again!
Our 2nd visit. Previous one was a week before and I gave 5 stars then. What happened?
Food once again outstanding but the the place has issues.
We were given a table close to entrance with constant cold air flow in my back. 2 attempts were not enough to get a decent gin martini. Bread was forgotten. Service was friendly but inexperienced.
I commented on the cold « dayliight » lighting before. This time the noise level reached level to make it unpleasant.
Might give the place another given the food but clearly needs be tightened up.
High quality of food and ingredients in a variety of styles - some light, some simple, some rich, some ingredient-based fresh salads. It’s a cut above most other restaurants in Northern New Jersey. Now has a liquor license while still being byob.
food was excellent. Octopus was best I ever had. My wife loved her salad (can't remember which one) and duck. My bison dish could have been served warmer. Service was impeccable.
While the decor is very nice, sober and classy. I did not like the "day light" lightening which produces a somewhat cold atmosphere. would replace by softer lightening.
Overall very nice experience. We'll be back.
Hands down our favorite restaurant!
I was a little concerned that with the acquisition of a new liquor license that WB would be priced out of our restaurant rotation - but I'm happy to say that the new drink menu is exciting, different and most of all reasonably priced! It adds to the meal and completes the experience.
We had the pork check and octopus appetizers which were a great start to our meal. We then settled into the bison, duck, monk fish dinners and again everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. We had a Xmas party to go to so we didn't stay for dessert.
However, I got to spend some time with Chef/Owner Sam and discussed his ideas around food and how he looks at his menu's with his seasonal approach to them and I enjoyed the conversation. Till next time.
Delicious restaurant!! A great add to Chester. Highly recommend!!
