Parties of 4 or more will have a private table.
Ribeye was overcooked, vegetables were undercooked. They forgot our soups, salads, and appetizers. Wine was delicious. Owner of restaurant was sitting behind us and only worried about drinking and listening to music.
I gave it one star because there is no zero star button. Service was the worst experience I have ever seen in a restaurant. We had 7:00 reservations, sat down at 6:55. Took at least 20 minutes for a server to make it to our table. The soup came out fairly soon after and was good. She finally got back to us for the order. Then about 8:45 she came back and acted like she didnt know we havent received our meals yet? Then gave us some lame excuse about our ticket getting lost. We didn't get our meal until after 9. Shrimp was cold and tasteless. The other servers were cleaning up around us as we ate and then said as we were leaving "see you next time". I dont think so.
Waited for 20 min before we stopped someone to get drinks and they were sweet to comp us some wine for the wait. App came out in a reasonable time but for dinner, we waited again for a total of 40 min and it was not a busy evening inside. They didn't have enough ppl working inside. The side room is painted like an aquarium in a child's room which doesn't match the rest of the restaurant. Dress code said business casual and there were jeans and shorts all over so we were overdressed.
It was steak night. My medallions were undercooked but I was so dang hungry that I ate it anyway. They looked like hamburger instead of medallions. The ribeye was thin and not very seasoned. Overall, I was very underwhelmed for a winery. It was a special night and the first outting for my boyfriend and I since quarantine started. I will not be back.
The Fillet tips were cooked perfect and delicious. Dinner was typical "meat and potatoes" with vegetables (baked potato/vegetables tasted fresh). Nothing fancy but an overall very good dinner. Music (singer) was very good. Eat inside or on screened in porch as flies are annoying. Wine is all variations of blueberry (dry - which is still somewhat sweet to really sweet). Fortunately, I like sweet wine (this is not a place for a dry wine drinker). They also offer beer and non alcoholic beverages. Service was fast and servers (ours was training others) were very nice. Blueberry cobbler dessert was tasty but nothing special. Would be a fun place to go with friends.
We eat here often and love it! The food is great and the wine is even better!
This was the first time we went for the Steak Night. As usual the setting and service was great. Our friends ordered the salmon & liked it alot. My husband & I ordered the ribeye. It left much to be desired. My husband's was tough & tasteless. (unusual for a ribeye) and mine had a funny flavor. After having a few bites, I took the rest home. I cut off the fat which was more than half of the steak & ended up with about 4 oz of meat which I re-seasoned to cover the funny taste. It might have been from the smoke from the grill? Hard to say, but we were disappointed in the quality of the beef. The ambiance is lovely & the wine is very good. I would only recommend it for that but not for dinner.
My parents and I visited for the first time and it definitely won’t be our last! From being greeted at the door by the owner, to the incredible bar staff, to our server Cici, everyone was incredibly polite and welcoming. The cook they had working was a master on the grill as all of our entrees came out perfect. We had absolutely no complaints, and then it got even better! The cobbler for dessert is an absolute must. Heavenly!
The four of us had four different meals, and we were all pleased with the way they tasted and were presented. We were surprized the wines were made with blueberries. Who knew??? None of us had ever had blueberry wine before. The eight wines sampled were all different. I liked the Sassy Sangria best. This is a place to take out of state guests to, or for a special occasion, or just because it's Friday and you don't want to cook dinner. Definitely recommend.
That was the 1st time for steak night and the 4 of us enjoyed every thing about the winery we will return for sure I will say I was at the winery tour 2 yrs ago bought some wine then all was goo
Service was wonderful, the filet minion was melt in your mouth. The ribeye was tough and full of gristle.
Good entertainment. This night she was having problems with her sound system. But every other time we have even there, the entertainment has been top notch.
It will be awhile before we go back the service was not good at all.
Love the location and the layout of the dining outside area. Having a live band(duet) made it special. Although there is no specific area for dancing some of us did anyway and had a great time doing so. A good part of the dining area is directly open except for shade provided by a large tree. There is a large area with a roof just in case. The food is cooked outside on an open grill. There is dining inside if too hot.
The cost for the food was 29.50 per person. A bit pricey but we went in with an open mind. I ordered the surf and turf which was very good. I chose the salad with thousand Island. The salad was a joke and I got Ranch instead. The waitress was working very hard so I didn't fuss. Later when I wanted a cup of coffee I had to get from my table, block her path to get her attention to ask for it. I left her a good tip because she was doing her best. We guessed they were understaffed.
My buddy got the soup of the day and said it was delicious(lobster bisque). Next time I'll try that.
All in all it was what we needed. To be outside with friends, enjoy some good food and have some spontaneity fun to keep what sanity we still have. Laurie and I with our friends will go back and recommend this place.
We had reservations for dinner Friday, 3JUL2020. We were offered inside or outside dining. There was live entertainment outside. We opted for inside. Stephanie was our server. Employees had face masks. Paper menus & cloth napkins rolled around our silverware were given when we were seated.
Stephanie took awhile before arriving to introduce herself & take beverage orders. After beverage order, she took 5 minutes to bring them back . A Yuengling & a 4-fight of the sweet wines. We ordered & each had the surf & turf (4 grilled shrimp on a wooden screwer) & one small round piece of red meat (medallion) which came w/a baked potato, steamed summer squash, zucchini, one baby carrot & a spoonful of baked beans served on a plastic, round, white plate. Bland. No seasonings on anything (meat, shrimp, veggies). Meals were delivered by another staff member. Stephanie didn't come by to see if everything came out alright. We had to look for her in order to see if we could get some melted butter. She said, "We don't have melted butter." I asked, "You can't throw a couple pats of butter in the mike?" She said, "Oh, OK." $30 meal served on a white, plastic plate like an elementary school cafeteria.
As we were leaving & paying the check, a guy came by & asked if everything was OK. I replied, "Eh, it was OK." He replied, "I'm sorry to hear that." & walked away. We left & I immediately remembered I left my white, cloth face mask on the table. When I went back in, I noticed the guy who had asked if everything was OK, standing behind the bar. I told him that I left my face mask on the table & he said "Yes, you did. I threw it away." I asked "You threw it away?" He replied, "Yup. I just made your bad day worse."
I left not happy about the mask but extremely happy that I hadn't bought the 4 bottles of wine I was going to. $83 for 2 disappointing meals, poor service & an uncaring manager who makes snide exiting remarks is not the kind of experience we wish to repeat.
The service and the food was horrible i will never come back
Their steaks are awesome as was the blueberry wine.
Best thing was the atmosphere. Took almost two hours for two of us with a 7 pm reservation, which isn’t bad if you’re on a date. But - seated by the grill, I was ready to go before we ate. The flies threatened to carry us away before any food or drink was on the table. And while we WERE seated outside, I couldn’t help but notice they were all amassed on the opposite side of our table; like it had only been partially wiped down. There were at least 20 on the table.
We asked for a citronella candle, which helped a little but wouldn’t stay lit.
But the worst part was watching the man helping plate the food wipe the extra juice off the plates, (already loaded with food) with rags sitting on a table by the grill, which were constantly covered with flies.
Food was good, but no appetite after that observation!!
I know flies can’t be helped in an outdoor venue, but a little bit of attention to this problem would go a long way.
Something different outside of The Villages. Good entertainment, delicious wine!
Great food, wine, service and music. We'll definitely be returning for more of the same!
Very nice, Food was great, wine even better, will be back
Went with friends for our anniversary. We really enjoyed it! The food was delicious. We also met the new owners. Very friendly! We will definitely be returning.
Great food and service. Nice live music. Wine is very good.
This place is such a nice place and their steaks are all cooked outside on an open pit grill that gives them that wonderful wood-grilled flavor. People told me before going that blueberry wine wasn't very good. . . Sorry folks, I would respectfully disagree, we like it enough that we bought another one to take home with us. I'm not particularly a sweet wine person their "Delightfully Dry" and their dessert wine, "Tango" are excellent. So good that we brought a bottle of each home to enjoy here. Others in our party enjoyed their sweeter wines also and one couple even finished off 2 bottles of the "Delightfully Dry". Guess that ends the myth about Blueberry wines :-)
Has become our favorite date night! Great food, fantastic wine and wonderful atmosphere.
Celebrated our 26 year anniversary and had an amazing time. Food was superb, ambience was phenomenal, and staff was amazing. The owner went around and ensure everyone was having a nice time. Will definitely be back.
We went to steak night on a particularly warm evening and were delighted that they had several industrial fans oscillating making wonderful breezes. Dinner experience saved!
We enjoyed our first visit to the restaurant. The food was good and well prepared. The price was a little on the high side.
The ambiance and the food are outstanding. Such a beautiful setting. Service was excellent. Our only concern was the amount of flies around the table and in our food. They even flew into my wine which was not pleasant. The music is also a nice touch.
We have been to Whispering Oaks Winery many times over the past 3 years and have had an enjoyable every time except this last time. The wait staff was inattentive and slow, the food portions were not worth the price. We will be taking a break from here for a while.
Even though I made reservation, only high top tables were available. Then waitress forgot to bring our salads. Those two mishaps won't discourage me from coming back, we really enjoyed our date night.
Great outdoor ambiance under the canopy of live oaks. Steaks grilled on an open wood-fired pit, doesn't get any better!
Our waitress Christian was very very nice and good until the very end when she was not wearing her mask which made me feel a bit uncomfortable because we were sitting at a bar at the same level as her face. The fan on the tree behind us was a little bit noisy but the Mudd’s were loud enough so we did hear fine. We love your place. Roger and Linda Gallagher
Menu was extremely misleading, I ended up with a burnt chunk of steak zero sauce as advertised "port reduction sauce" same for my husband who expected chimichurri was told they dont have that and that blueberry bbq sauce was rubbed on the shrimp which was a mystery to be seen, also Luke warm veggies and mash potatoes, only drink option outside of wine was canned Coke which they ran out of and dessert cake was dry, best part was the one man band, but for the money I would hardly say there was any value.
Awesome time. Waitress, Darcy, I believe was her name was outstand ing. Looking forward to going again.
I would recommend Whispering Oaks Winery to everyone. Love the live music and atmosphere.
Our favorite place to dine! Love the atmosphere and especially the blueberry wine. Daryl, the owner, is always present and makes you feel welcomed and special.
good food ! service was a bit spotty. twice ordered sparkling sangria and twice received regular sangria.
Always a good time! You are made to feel so welcomed and the care they are taking during this time is more than I have seen at other places!
Great re-Opening night. Staff worked hard to ensure distancing and temp checks as we arrived. Wait team was a little behind, better turn out than expected, and getting back into the grove. Couple minor glitches, but a pleasant experience. Our 4th or 5th visit in the past year, this was on par. Both fish and steak were good, along with sides, very good meal. Wine is always a plus! So glad they returned!
We had the rib eye
All six of us thought the quality was ok
Fatty n areas tough given the price
We felt evening was pricey but enjoyable
Too many flies to eat outside
