Excellent food. Great service.
Awesome! Yummy! Great selection of food and drinks.
An excellent brunch experience all the way around -- food, atmosphere, service.
Fantastic service! Loved the ahí crudo. Will definitely be coming back!
I always eat at Whisknladle when in San Diego. The service, food, and ambiance are all incredible. Thanks for another great meal!
Our yearly visit to La Jolla and we always head to Whisknladle Outstanding and the staff is amazing.
I had the tuna tacos! There was one very skinny strip of tuna swamped in cabbage in each taco. At first I thought that they forgot the tuna. Oh! I just remembered, there was also a little piece of avocado. That’s it! The green salad was just pieces of lettuce with a boring salad dressing, ie. no taste. Very disappointed. And it was Valentine’s Day! Not a heart anywhere. And no mention on the menu or anywhere in the restaurant. Granted it was lunch, but we like to have a nice lunch rather than a heavy dinner of several courses.
Staff were attentive. The wine was good (35$ red). The artichoke appetizer was good. The crudo was ridiculously small for the price and the cheese plate was so lackluster with the choice of cheeses and no interesting accompaniments for the high price. Will not be returning.
Service was great
Food was fun
We decided to have four appetizers between the two of us. Our waiter paired them up for us perfectly and each dish was excellent. We'll be back soon
This is just always a delightful time. Bob our favorite waiter is amazing too.
Food and drinks were absolutely amazing! Great ambiance and very cool atmosphere. Servers were super knowledgeable about how the food was prepared and had great recommendations. Highly highly recommend!
The service was great and the food was fabulous! We will definitely come back next time we are in town
The food was imaginative, well thought out and put together... amazing! Our server and everybody on staff was so attentive and cordial and polite and friendly! Wonderful evening! Highly recommend!
Went for San Diego Restaurant Week. $50 per person. I got the artichoke for appetizer, scallops for entree and Butterscotch Budino for dessert. The artichoke was on the spicy side. I would probably get the mussels in its place next time. Scallops were excellent with the sweet potato puree. The Butterscotch Budino was amazing!
I am looking forward to dining here again.
Whisknladle had a great atmosphere and service the entire night. The only concern was their main course pasta dish. I got the squid ink pasta and my friend the mushroom pasta. Both pasta's were cooked well and had great flavor, but was very, very salty. We ended the night with dessert however this was also extremely sweet - and I have a sweet tooth. We each took two bites of our dessert and could not finish the plate. Overall I would not come back nor recommend to a friend. The total for our meal was around $120 after tax and tip.
Amazing customer service, and the BEST dessert. Must try: Butterscotch Budino, paired with a port!
We always enjoy eating here when we visit LaJolla. Service was excellent and the food and drinks were good as always.
Great food and service
Flatbread was unique and delicious. Waiter was informative and attentive. Helped select an excellent wine. Meat was not hot, but he got it fixed. Excellent overall.
Enjoyed our evening here. We were visiting from out of town. Staff is terrific.
Great Service at Lunch! It was pretty quiet & slow for a Monday so reservation wasn’t really needed.
Kale & Goat Cheese Salad was the Best Kale Salad I ever had & the Chilaquiles was very delicious! We also had the mushroom pasta with the cauliflower purée that was really good and filling! Topped it off with the butterscotch budino that was yummy!!
Delicious and interesting food, tasty and unique cocktails, and excellent staff. Highly recommend!
We loved coming here since the year Whisknladle opened over ten years ago (we dined here twice this week). Until last year, it was one of our favorite restaurants in San Diego, but it has since become wildly unpredictable--sometimes serving the best of meals, and sometimes the most disappointing of meals. Tonight, the $30-something halibut sounded delicious, but it arrived barely lukewarm (a different server brought it to our table, which made me think it must have been sitting out for a while); the fish was all soggy from soaking and cooling too long in beurre blanc, and plated with one tiny floret of Romanesco and some wet Swiss chard. It truly pains me to say it, but we're finally breaking up for good with WNL (after having said we would do so last year when we sensed something had changed in the kitchen). The restaurant is still on the Eater 38 list, so I may very well be in the minority, but we're grateful for many years of memorable meals here and very sad to say goodbye!
A delightful evening - all four of us loved our food and the service was friendly and professional.
Whisknladle is a favorite! Always enjoy the experience. Lunch was delicious. Service was great. Good fool selection: octopus and fish tacos. Both good
Solid meal, good flavors and great wine. Try the viognier!
Great food and great service. It was very enjoyable.
By chance we hit Sharing Sunday and we could share the courses at a lower overall cost. Good value and the food was great. A bit salty but I like salt. We had delicious mussels and very nice scallops. Excellent service. In fact we are returning tonight for the bone marrow.
Love Whisknladle! Each dish we had was perfect, and the bartender came out to help me choose something that paired well, but fit my dietary needs. The waitress was attentive without being overbearing, and again - the dishes we had were perfectly made. This is a terrific, well run restaurant with a very capable chef/kitchen team.
Always great at Whisnladl! The chicken was super crisp and the steak tender; I enjoyed the Cesar, what oil do they use ?! The rye whiskey cocktail was delicious
This is my fav local restaurant! Yum!
Wonderful food, great service. Waitress was exceptional.
Always love the food, cocktails and wine list, waitstaff and ambiance here. We are from Seattle and make a point to dine here whenever we are in town.
The food was fantastic!!! Lobster bisque, kale and goat cheese salad, and the fried chicken sandwich. Outstanding!
Amazing food and so great if you have severe gluten allergy (Celiac).. Wonderful service too..
What has happened to our beloved Whisknladle? The menu choices are significantly reduced and the quality of the meal was not as high as the many years we have been dining there. Thank goodness they still offer the Kitchen Sixer (one of the greatest dining innovations of all time).
As usual the food was consistently excellent as was the service.
Great food and great ambiance. Really enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back!! Scallops were perfectly cooked and the chicken is moist and delicious. Would recommend both dishes.
Excellent restaurant. Creative menu choices, well trained waiters and outstanding atmosphere with outdoor/indoor seating.
