Food and the service our waitress provided were great. Cheese plate and bolognese are a must. Bartender was arrogant and wouldn’t even look at us to take a drink order. Once at our table our drink order took 20min. Not what you would expect for a restaurant with such a high yelp rating.
Flatiron steak was severely undercooked. Sea bass was nothing special. Caesar salad was very good. Expected more considering the reviews and cost.
Cocktails, appetizers, and main dishes were great! Service was spot on! A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Plenty to eat.
Fantastic start to finish. Food and service was perfect! We had a wonderful evening. Thank you!
Amazing service and food!!!!
Food was outstanding. 4 of us for dinner - one of us is vegan - all of us happy :-) Prawn and calamari pasta was oh so yummy! House made pasta makes all the difference. Desserts were also delish! The service left a lot to be desired. Specifically, our main waiter seemed to be new or really off his game. We were there on a Thurs night and the restaurant was 3/4 full so not sure if he had too many tables. His timing was totally off as far as ordering each course (including wine) and coming back to check up. The servers who handled the actual serving of the food and refilling water glasses were excellent - seemed that they were trying to help our waiter out and take up his slack. These things happen - and the food was so good that we will definitely go back for another try.
The food was excellent and the patio dining was perfect! Fantastic recommendations from our server as well.
Best brunch I've had in a long time delicious preparation of hashbrowns, great fruit bowl and decadent bacon. Pork belly has also fantastic. Sparks will fly.
We really enjoyed our restaurant week dining experience at Whisknladle. Unlike many restaurants, they allow you to choose 3 courses from their regular menu. We enjoyed the yellow tail crudo, mussels, seared scallops and sea bass. All were perfectly prepared and we plan to enjoy again. The broth from the mussels was one of the best we've had. Dessert just put the meal(s) over the top. Our server was excellent and anticipated our needs before we could even ask.
They advertised for the restaurant week with three items from the regular menu including pork chop. Great. We made a reservation and found out they took it off the restaurant week menu.
20% gratuity was automatically added. The steak we ordered was not good and chewy. The octopus salad was very good. Desserts were basic as well.
Really good food and well prepared. It was restaurant week and had a 3 course meal for $50. It was awesome for a date night for parents of 3 boys.
Amazing service and incredible food
We really do object to having 20% added to our bill automatically for gratuity plus 3.75% for the extra charge due to the raise in the minimum wage. We just feel that to go out to dinner and have to pay almost 25% on top of our food and wine cost is too much. In a top notch French restaurant with a Michelin star, I can understand paying that much in gratuity because you often have two or three waiters hovering most of the time.
My wife and usually love this place, it’s a must go to every restaurant week, but I was disappointed greatly this time around with my plate, the steak was undercooked and the veggies tasted burnt. On the plus side the dessert was amazing and my wife loved her meal.
Great ambiance, great food, great area. I'll definitely come back.
Prices too high for the quality but food was excellent as well as the service
I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant more than I did. To begin with the menu is not easy to read and understand exactly what you're ordering or eating. Perhaps too trendy/hipster for our us, but we just had a difficult time deciding what to order, selections were just too wordy. The was good but I never had that feeling that I would return. Good to try but not impressive.
The service here can't be beat. All of the servers were attentive without being annoying. We started off with a complimentary cheese puff that was wonderful and moved on to the flatbread of the night. Everything was good. The only downside was that the temperature became extremely hot after a neighboring table requested the heater, so you definitely need to negotiate how to handle such situations.
Great food!! Very informative waitress.Farm to table with very fresh food!!!
We met some old friend here for dinner. The server was incredibly knowledgable and attentive. The food was fresh and innovative without being fussy or trying too hard. Would definitely recommend.
An SD favorite especially for the savories on the menu — bone marrow, charcuterie, and more. Feels intimate and warm. Outstanding service.
Every time we go here the food and service blow us away! Always an incredible dining experience from every aspect. One of my all time favorite restaurants.
I've been back several times! Love the food, great service and neighborhood glam! And the beautiful cocktail selection is tops!
Always excellent. Fun food. Great service from Jessie!
Went with friends for dinner. Excellent and large Caesar salad, tasty salmon, juicy pork chop, interesting and very good duck pith ivied ( a kind of meat pie). Butterscotch budino was a rich and tasty dessert. Good cocktail and wine selection. Overall a lovely neighborhood place
Maybe the best service we've had in San Diego since moving here two years ago! Love this place!
Ambience and menu was so delightful, we made a res for the following night before the first course was served. Too many good menu options to make just one choice!
Server had intimate knowledgeable of menu and custom cocktails, so was able to steer us in the right direction. She (Kristen) was professional and appropriately attentive. (And recognized and served us on night 2, which was equally excellent.)
Great craft cocktails with the big square ice cubes. Superb food met California-excellence standard.
One of the best places for brunch, lunch or dinner in La Jolla. Great seasonal menu changes, as well as wine and beer selection. Creative cocktail list as well.
Incredible Brunch - especially when you are served by Jessie. Your entire day will be better for it!
Wonderful experience. Great food, great service, great ambiance. From salads to after dinner cocktails, loved it all. We highly recommend Wisknladle.
