Whiskeys on the Water
We were a family with children. They sat us between a bachelorette party and a surprise party. My children saw some adult items/foods that they should not have.
We were charged $10 for a small alcoholic drink. Anywhere else it would have been $5. Our food arrived cold. We would have complained but the server didn’t come back until she had our check. By that time we just wanted to get out of there. We will not be going back.
All 4 in our group have eaten here before and have always had a good experience. Our server was friendly and attentive and the food was good and reasonably priced. It does tend to be noisy with the wood /brick decor unable to absorb the sound. WOTW will remain in our dining rotation!
Only had cocktails and an appetizer. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. the atmosphere was cool. Would have been nice to have a whiskey list at a place called Whiskeys on the Water.
Great food service was good loud down stairs
This was a great spot for a lunch date. Our server was great and gave good recommendations for our meals and dessert. The whiskey salmon was great! We will certainly be back to this place.
It was our first time visiting and we really weren't impressed. I tried booking a table online and it said the restaurant was offline. I called the restaurant and was told that I couldn't make a same day reservation. The hostess was not pleasant on the phone. I decided to try online again and it worked this time. Hmm.
After getting to the restaurant I ordered a drink that I saw on there online menu. I was told that they didn't have that. I said it's a mixed drink you have listed on your website. She said that the website hasn't been updated in a long time, but she would ask the bartender. I got my drink. The food was acceptable, but not worth the price.
We asked for a whiskey menu and were given one that the waitress said was super outdated. There were bottles on the shelf not listed and one's listed we were told they no longer have.
All in all it was not a great experience. Food was mediocre and drinks were all right, but neither were worth the prices charged. It's really not hard to keep up with your website in this day and age and it's highly recommended. Also, keeping up with the whiskey menu when claiming to be a whiskey bar seems like it should be common sense.
I think they have the potential to be a pretty great place, but I know that our group won't be back anytime soon.
It was a perfect casual great dinner. Everyone was friendly, food was great and prices were good.
I had wonderful experience at Whiskey's on the Water. Plan on going there again
We LOVE Whiskeys. We live near by and have been there for Mothers Day brunch, dinner, drinks regular week night dinner, even late night after too many other kitchens are closed we had a quesadilla and it was SUPER delish!! It's always a great place to be. The staff is awesome and the food and drinks are great too!
The food was good and the service was great. I like a server that regularly checks in to see if you need anything. Reservations are a must on the weekends as it's busy. It is quite noisy, but the lively atmosphere is what it's all about, especially for the younger crowd.
It’s just an ok bar with small portions of ok bar food!
Great service and the food was great also! We sat upstairs, which was a little cold, but still a very nice restaurant.
Great food and service.
Great atmosphere and food. Probably the most progressive and trendy bar/restaurant Downriver.
We loved the atmosphere, food was good. Service was a little slow.
Dinner before a show.
Every thing was great will Definitely be back good food good service
My friend took me there for a birthday lunch. The food was just ok. She liked her food. The waitress was not as friendly to me as I thought she could have been. I liked eating outside, music was going in and out because they were charging something. I probably wont go back.
Our first time. We were there at the end of brunch. What we had was very good. We will return for brunch and more.
This was our first visit and we will be back. Food and service was great. Our server Arielle took care of what we needed. It was a Sunday evening, but it was still pretty busy.
Not happy! Made a 7:15 reservation on St. Patrick's Day and when we arrived were told they were not taking reservations and of course a long wait plus a $5 cover charge. We did not stay. They should have blocked off all the reservations for that night.
Really enjoyed our first time there. Food was excellent, service was quick and great. We will definitely go back.
Have been going for a couple years. Food is ~ good ~. Seems like it was better a few months ago though, not sure if lead cook has changed (it makes all the difference sometimes). Service was a little slow the other night, but friendly and accommodating so no complaints, gave me time to enjoy my drink :-). Will go again. Hubby says burgers are the best there. I really liked the breaded cod. Ordered a main big salad one time and it was "~eh~", too much limp lettuce, need to mix it up. Really like the mediterranean pasta dish, lots of sundried tomatoes and feta which makes it excellent, at least for my liking.
I won’t pull punches. There were some issues. Timing of service drinks and food orders. Had to have a meal replaced. These things happen in the business. What I was impressed with most was how they dealt with it. They made sure we received what we ordered. The food and beverages were great. Quality menu and food offerings. I will return. Beware of long wait for a breakfast skillet. Knowledge is power. Just order another drink and enjoy the conversation. It’s worth the wait.
The food was good and the Kentucky mules used to be. I was disappointed in the Kentucky Mule this time; it did not taste the same nor did it come in a copper mug, I would not have ordered it had I known. We were double charged for our hummus, good thing I looked at the receipt. The waitress gave me the $12.00 back, but not the tax portion, but what's $.72. But overall, it was a nice place, love the view of the city.
Always cool in reasturant. Foid gets cold quickly because of that. But heat was out, 57 degree. We did not stay.
We enjoyed the lunch. The service was good. It was a bit cool in the restaurant as initially there was not a lot of people in the dining room
I've been a customer at Whiskeys on the Water since they first opened in 2016. What was first an easy go to option when friends or family were in town visiting has turned into a much less frequent occasion due to poor service. Although the restaurant has gluten free options like gf pasta and bread options (which is great!) the servers are not educated in which foods contain wheat/barley/rye. I asked to make sure my meal was gluten free, but was given breaded fries. When I then asked if the fries were breaded, I was treated poorly by the server (in what was already a less than adequate experience). I really want to like Whiskeys because it has become a cornerstone in the downtown area of Wyandotte but their customer service has recently been lacking.
Dinner was very good and the service was excellent. Wish we had been seated downstairs. The downstairs seating has a much better ambiance. The upstairs is very "banquet sterile". We RSVPed on OpenTable and expected to be seated in the more desirable downstairs area. Even though I had indicated on the RSVP that we were celebrating a birthday, no one even queried.
Great dining experiemce. Service and food were awesome. Can’t wait to go again
Great place. Another thumbs up to the dinning seen in Wyandotte. Food and service were excellent.
My only displeasure was the beginning, the greeting. After reserving a table online & checking in with the hostess, she informed me our table was ready. Being that my date hadn't arrived yet, i waited by the entrance, per our agreement. Within minutes she arrived & i informed the hostess (there were two) that we were ready. They informed me our table was upstairs & just sent us on our way...alone. We had to find which table was ours. It's embarrassing to be on a date, at a nice establishment & standing in the middle of the restaurant trying to figure out which table in ours. Poor!
Everyone had a good time. I thought my food was good other than the chicken tasted reheated. Drinks were a little on the weak side, which I actually enjoy.
Wonderful server and good burgers. Very rude young person handing out free Dos Eques beer samples. My handicapped father in law asked for a straw for his sample. He has hand tremors and a broken neck with pins. She laughed and giggled and responded very poorlyLooked for a manager when leAving but didn't pass one on the way out to discuss this service breakdown.
Friendly upscale sports bar with good food and expansive menu.
I was at Whiskeys on the Water with co-workers during a work trip. Our hostess was delightful and friendly and spoke well of the area and Detroit in general. Our server did a nice job as well. The cocktails (Old Fashioneds ) and food (burgers, chicken sandwich and Cubano)were very good. We also enjoyed a cool walk around the area and the waterfront.
There were 6 of us for dinner on a Friday night in July. We were able to make a reservation for the patio. You can see the river from the patio but it's not waterfront, but still a great location in downtown Wyandotte. The food was very good, our vegan friends were happy with the black bean burgers, my husband loved his Cuban sandwich, my burger was very good as was the mac and cheese. The person who ordered the fish and chips wasn't very happy with the cod, it was very thin, not what you expect. The service was excellent...helpful, prompt and friendly.
Very nice place. We'll be back.
This place is a little newer so I understand there is still some bugs to work out. The name Wiskeys on the Water implies, this is a wiskey place and its on the water. It is near the river, but not on the river. Outdoor seating on a sidewalk a block away from the water. I asked my waitress what kind of wiskey they had and she stated she doesnt drink wiskey so she didnt know and most people drink beer. After a short discussion of her encouraging me to buy a fruity girly drink, she finally brought me a wiskey menu. She was not being rude, she was friendly but unpolished and inexperienced. There is a fine selection of wiskeys and other drinks, the food menu has many options too. The atmosphere/ambiance is great, wait staff was friendly albeit very young, the floor was sticky downstairs and upstairs (mopped with dirty water?) , restrooms were clean, food was mediocre. If they had a little more professional waitstaff, cleaned the floor, hired more skilled cook, this place would rock. The wiskey was good too.
The service was great and the atmosphere was fun. The only problem we had was that the alfredo pasta was very dry. We really liked the spinach and artichoke dip, and the fish and chips were delicious.
