Whiskey Cake - Katy
Very attentive waiter and excellent food
Quite expensive, didn’t care for the bathrooms being set up they way they were, beyond that the food was awesome. The whiskey cake was delicious!
Drinks great location great. Food is a bit salty for my taste
Loved the atmosphere and decor.
We ordered various items as it was our first visit and we wanted to try many items.
Eggs and ham Benedict was good without the hollandaise sauce. Sauce was not good or worth the calories.
Fried green tomatoes sadly had no flavor, but the accompanying sauce was nicely flavored.
Spaghetti squash was cold as if it sat awhile before serving.
Green beans were blanched, still crunchy with a good flavor.
Brussel sprouts were also crunchy with s good flavor. One in our group preferred the veggies softer.
French press coffee was delicious.
Deviled eggs were just ok.
Hangover burger was very good, the egg on top was huge! This is definitely a good item to share.
One of my new local favorite places! Excellent food, creatively served. Great tap wall and bar, beautiful location, friendly staff. I have yet to have even an average meal here. It's always great! Still looking for my favorite menu item. Maybe I just have to try them all...
I had the chicken and waffles and my wife had the grilled salmon salad. Both were outstanding Gabby was our server and she was excellent. Recommend it highly.
Poor service. Server got order wrong, admitted it and didn’t offer an apology
Music was VERY loud and overly energetic. Made us want to get in and out as quick as possible.
deviled eggs-imaginative, outstanding
goat cheese fondue-a great appetizer-bread was superb
fried green tomatoes-nice presentation, nicely breaded, but for my taste, tomatoes needed
more cooking and some kind of seasoning
duck was excellent-cooked right
salmon was good, but not outstanding compared to a ginger salmon by others
whiskey cake was great, as good a house specialty desert as i have ever had
waitress was friendly, cheerful and well informed on the menu
Food was below average but the drinks were good. My husband ordered a pork dish and it was undercooked, our appetizer of fried green tomatoes was cold and my salad had wayyyy too much dressing on it. The staff was friendly but the food was just so bad.
Staff went out of their way to acknowledge my son's birthday and make him feel special.
Great food. Little expensive but still great. Only issue was that we had to ask the hostess to go find us a waitress to assist us so we didn’t miss happy hour prices since we had been sitting for longer than you would normally expect at a restaurant.
I will return. I had a very enjoyable evening but would have a mixture of appetizers and skip the main courses in future The appetizers are all outstanding but I thought that the main meals were not much better than average. The whiskey cake dessert is excellent and very close in taste to English sticky toffee pudding. Excellent service and fair prices.
Love this place. This is my 3rd visit....This time around, my plate of eggs was ice cold, but I didn’t want to cause a hassle because my friend and I had not seen one another is a long time and I wanted to focus on her.
Restaurant has unique food selections thst are delicious! Food is excellent, havent been disappointed .The service and atmosphere are great.
We dined out at one of our favorite places in Whiskey Cake. I enjoyed a mint julep that was superb and the hummus was amazing! The service was attentive but honestly, we've come to expect a higher level than we received on this visit. I specified on our reservation online that it was my wife's birthday and I had to remind the server. Still a favorite place with an incredible ambiance but wish it had been a more complete experience.
Normally I love Whiskey Cake, but this time made me think it may be my last time. A problem with our reservation request which was done on Open Table, AND followed up with a phone call which confirmed my request as being completed, but it was not. My usual dish was not what it normally is. The music was so loud which made not only my party but anyone else in the restaurant have to shout just to communicate.
Had a great time... great food. I’ll know next time to get a more private table. The high tables that you have to share with everyone was a bit much for my personal space preference. Great service and loved our food!
Celebrating graduation with a late dinner. We ordered the deviled eggs, aristo misto, and turkey burger. Everything was delicious.
Eli was wonderful. Even though Bar was slammed she overcame issues and handled things very professionally. Kudos to her. The new dessert pineapple cake is delicious.
The waiter we had should not be in the service industry, as he clearly didn’t want to be at service to anyone. Maybe it was just an off day, but didn’t get our order correct, wasn’t in a good mood, and just gave us a really bad experience. They serve fresh squeezed OJ, but they load the drink with ice, so you get very little OJ. It began to water down the drink, so we ask for it without ice and they served us half a glass of OJ as normally it would have ice to fill up the drink. They brought our entree out before our appetizer and then proceeded to just say sorry about it and the appetizer that we chose just takes a long time. Hope other people have a better experience, but we will definitely not be going back, which sucks because the food and concept was pretty good.
This was our first time for brunch and it was delicious. The whiskey menu is out of this world, and that alone will keep us coming back. We made a reservation and while waiting for a table to be cleaned, another lady (I'm sure she didn't know, but didn't ask) took us to a side room and put at a table with absolutely no room to sit. When I asked for the table we reserved, we were quickly accommodated. Other than that, everything was great.
Loved this place! Went for Sunday brunch with the fam to say goodbye to our son leaving for USMC combat training. We enjoyed the overall experience.
We come here about one a month and we like coming back here because it’s pretty much the only modern-hipster place in Katy. The food is always good but tonight the kitchen was on point with everything so the food was extraordinary! Can’t wait to come back again 🙂
My brother was visiting from Lubbock. We took him to WC and then to a movie. He was very impressed with the food and cocktails! Our waiter was great!
We love Whiskey Cake - Katy. We go there with friends all the way from Spring and always enjoy the food, the drinks and the service.
Enjoyed the cocktails and appetizers. The meal was also nice. Would like to see more entree choices. However, everything was good. Will return.
Great brunch on Sun👍👍
The food was excellent! Had the pork brisket with pablano grits..fantastic! Friends hat the shrimp salad and loved it also. Whiskey Cake for dessert and we were happy campers!
Honored our reservation promptly. Very good menu. Very Good Service. Extremely noisy-tough to carry on a conversation in normal tone.
The meal was good and we loved the locally sourced foods.
I was disappointed, and I’m not sure with whom, either the app or the restaurant, about the fact that I indicated that we were celebrating my wife’s birthday and there was no mention of it.
Went there for an Anniversary but my work team has been going there for lunch and happy hour several times before. Ambiance is beautiful, low-key, and the food is great and presented beautifully.
Great selection of specialty drinks, super selection of beers and an awesome/unmatched selection of whiskey/bourbons. Menu is small, but has something for everyone. Make reservations on the weekend during prime hours.
This was our first visit to Whiskey Cake - Katy, celebrating a birthday.
The atmosphere, food and service AFTER we were seated was great!
But I do have one question - why do you offer reservations?
I made a reservation in advance for 7:30 p.m., for 2 people.
When we arrived, we saw lots of people at tables as well as people waiting to be seated - a good sign of a good place to eat! I got in line for the receptionist, behind four other people (each representing a group).
Those four people were told the wait would be 30-45 minutes, and none of them had a reservation.
When I got to the receptionist, I provided my name and that I had a reservation. She pulled up my name,
informing me that it would be a 10-20 minute wait, since I arrived prior to my reservation time. (I checked my watch - it was 7:25 p.m. - really?) I said nothing, thanked her, and asked her to point out where waiting areas might be available. My husband and I went to an area at the other end of the restaurant, but where
I could watch the reception area - we were told we would be contacted via my cell phone when our table was ready. (The cell phone message never came.) We waited 10 minutes, then 20, then 30...at this point, I had watched all the 'no reservation' groups be seated, so I went back to the receptionist. When I shared this information with her, she just stared at me with a 'deer in the headlights' look...
Suddenly, another staff member rushes up, quickly telling me she 'believes she sees our table being set up for us'. As I stated earlier, once we finally got seated, the service, staff and food were wonderful!
But does the word 'reservation' not mean anything anymore?
The food and the wait staff was AMAZING. The hostess was a different story. Get there at 6:15 and our reservations were at 6:30. It was starting to get busy. She told us that our table was not ready (even though there were tables available). No worries we would wait 5 min thinking that a table just needed to be cleaned off. 15 min later people keep coming in and where getting seated. Finally went up there and asked her if we were waiting in a specific table that people were still at. She told me no that we were next. 10 min later at this time it was past our reservation time we were being seated at a high top which I specifically said we could not sit at because my 80 year old grandma could not sit up there. When I told her that we could not sit there and right at that moment other people were continually sitting at regular tables. So after waiting 30 min for a table after our reservations we finally were seated.
Great food. Always enjoy the chicken, duck, turkey burger. Save room for whiskey cake
Carlos was great as well
We went for brunch and we were so happy to finally go and enjoy some family time together. The menu seemed promising but as the food came out we were left disappointed.
Deviled eggs were not amazing. Pretty basic and nothing flavorful stood out to the four of us at the table.
Goat cheese fondue - YUMMY
Chicken and Waffles - yummy 1 piece chicken and bland and dry waffle. They poured the syrup all over the chicken which left my waffle boring. I asked for more syrup and butter but it was never delivered.
Chicken and Cheese melt was super good but the bread cut up both my mother in law and my husbands mouth.
The creme brulee french toast was way more of a dessert we could of all shared then a breakfast item.
Not a bad experience but we wont be going there again. Better brunch places where we will enjoy more than 2 items out of the 5 we order.
We were there to meet friends for brunch. 3 of us ordered the Farmers Breakfast. It was not good. The bacon was basically raw and there was a very over dressed salad on the plate, yuck. The fact that there was no salt and pepper on the table was frustrating, let alone no butter for the biscuits or catsup for the potatoes. The server was busy and in order to get those items the breakfast would have cold. If we had been alone I would have sent it back but since we were with friends, I didn't want cause concern. We have had dinner there and it was okay, but this was really bad. There are too many places in Katy to eat that I won't do this again.
It was our first time at Whiskey Cake and we will definitely go back. Food was fresh, flavorful and delicious. You gotta get the whiskey cake for dessert!!
Lisa provided excellent service with a smile and checked on us regularly. We ordered drinks, a Texas Bourbon Flight and the other Whiskey Flight that was to include my hubby’s favorite, Woodford Reserve, a popular high end Bourbon. When it came, Elijah Craig had been substituted for the Woodford. Lisa checked with the bar with the answer they were out of Woodford. Three Little Pigs pork sliders...the Best, 2 burgers, and the Short Rib plus fries and onion rings were ordered. All were juicy and good. the Whiskey Cake dessert, we sliced into 4 and shared. It is served warm...just incredible, deep chocolate, candied pecans, fresh whipped cream and a sauce under the cake.
We came at 6:30, a A Friday night, by 7:30, place was packed and you could not hear the person next to you. On the first visit, arrived 1:30 p.m. for lunch during the week and the noise level was fine. Oh, check out the goodies for sale as you enter the front door. That bourbon scented candle burning is wonderful, and they offer interesting spice mixtures,
