Whiskey Cake - Katy
Always a great experience not to mention the food!
Had set reservations for brunch for Father’s Day, was seated immediately and greeted with a warm greeting. Food was amazing and the service was as well! Will definitely be back and recommend to others.
Food was fantastic! Service was great considering it was very busy.
Ford was great. Duck I was outstanding.
Food and service was very good as has been our experience each time we have been to Whiskey Cake in Katy. Only complaint is that it was extremely cold at our table which made it hard to relax and enjoy our meal. We felt like we needed to hurry up and leave before we froze. They should realize that customers aren’t running around like the wait staff and thus the temperature should be adjusted accordingly. Also that the heat of the day had passed and may have required management to be in tune with how cold the restaurant had become.
Wish there was more variety on the menu
My wife convinced me to go to Whiskey Cake - it's not the type place I'd voluntarily frequent. She loved her salad but I'm more a traditional food kind of guy. The entrees usually included something I'd categorize as a "why add THAT?" addition. The effort is to be different, to be eclectic, which is fine is that's you're thing. It's not mine.
I had what is thankfully called the "basic burger" without about half the items that, in my view, aren't included with a basic burger. It was juicy, fresh and tasty. The accompanying small pile of kettle chips were a tad stale but I ate them.
She loved it. My daughters love it. They eat at Whisky Cake frequently. I asked my wife to submit this review; if she had, it would have been a lot more favorable.
Back to Cracker Barrel for me.
Was first time there and had the Eggs Benedict. I also did the Mimosa flight. Both were great. Plan to go back and do some bourbon tasting. Server - Lisa - was terrific.
The food was good, but not mind blowing. The whiskey cake itself however was incredibly delicious.
I was sorely disappointed. Too many different people handling drinks, food, bill, etc. Everything was total disjointed and food had to be sent out and my guest ate alone while I waited. Very noisy. Waiter took order, someone else brought the drinks, someone else brought the food (the wrong food) and manager ultimately stepped over. Chaos
First time visiting the restaurant. I enjoyed the food, especially appetizers. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive and had a good working knowledge of menu items. Will definitely return.
GNO dinner and a movie! Ate here with three girlfriends. Ordered cocktails, several apps and entrees for all. Food was good overall.
Great food, service
We enjoyed our first visit so much we went back the next night for the same exact thing. We look forward to the next time. The food was delicious and very fresh. All of the dishes seem to start with a familiar base that take a creative and modern twist. The staff was very attentive and friendly. If you're a social person, this is a great spot for you with their community type seating options. For the less social, like myself, there are a few booths and private tables that are a little more difficult to snag.
I normally enjoy WC due to food and service, in spite of the loud music (much more than "energetic"). The noise is something one must put up with for the good food. That said, this last time was really bad as the music was SO loud, that it increased the noise of people having to shout at one another. At most tables in our area the patrons were literally shouting at each other, which only increased the noise level. Our server could not hear us nor could we hear him- it was crazy with noise. A simple lowering of the volume of the background noise would no doubt reduce the need for so many people shouting!
Amazing service, fantastic food. I had a brisket burger with no bun and my daughter ordered a chicken cheese sandwich off the kid menu
First time and will definitely be back.
Whiskey Cake has always been wonderful and we will be back. Mother’s Day got the best of them. Our silverware was dirty, there was food splattered on the wall of the booth, kids pancakes were way smaller and not as fluffy as they usually are, had to send back poached eggs that came out hard boiled. However, our waitress was the sweetest thing ever and really provided great service. They had chalk and hula hoops for the kids while we waited. The kitchen just had a hard time with Mother’s day. It was our wedding anniversary as well. The mimosa flight and fried green tomatoes were amazing!
We had yet another great experience. Our waitstaff was super and the manager always makes his way to the table to make sure we ha e a great experience. The whiskey Cake is awesome don’t skip it. We will definitely be back even though it is quite a long drive for us to get to Katy!
Poor service. Nearly 40 minutes of waiting once we were seated to get appetizers and drinks
Great restaurant for a Saturday afternoon lunch!! Value was great and the food came out fresh and just as we ordered.
Everything was great. The waitress was very nice and knew the menu well.
The reserved table was ready on time, and the table service was fast and friendly. The kitchen forgot some parts of our order, so a couple of the people in our party had to wait. The bacon infused waffles were disappointing. The waffles were soggy, and you couldn’t taste the the savoriness of the bacon. Aside from those glitches, this is one of my favorite restaurants for their locally-sourced fresh food, charming decor, and full bar... oh, and the whiskey cake. It’s a “must” on every visit.
Food was incredible, as always. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles. Easily my favorite restaurant!
Excellent food, service and ambiance! Great selection of whiskey and the deviled eggs, duck wings and onion dip are delish!
I would prefer had I been the 1st to review this restaurant and then claimed I brought it to everyone's attention however I am one of almost 400 to give it an excellent review because it is quite simply an excellent experience
We took our teenage daughter that has food allergies and their accommodations were awesome and she loved it!
Went for brunch and it was great! The Bloody Mary bar is great and I recommend the jalapeño biscuits!
We made a reservation on Open Table because Google stated the wait could be up to 45 minutes. We was seated with ease and immediately greeted by our waiter. The restaurant didn't seem very busy but the food took a long time. We ordered the 3 little pigs for our starter. It was delicious with tons of flavor combinations, but missing a pinch of salt. The entree took forever. We ordered everything at the same time because we didn't want to spend too much time at the restaurant. We ordered the duck breast with carrot puree and the adult mac n cheese. The duck breast was supple, the puree was beyond what you'd imagine. The mac was the best, full of flavor and cheesy but not packed with Velveeta type of cheesy! The menu was very limited and mostly alcoholic beverages. Since we don't drink, it greatly reduced our selection. I wouldn't bring kids and don't see myself coming back anytime soon. The whiskey cake is definitely worth a try, we took it home and couldn't stop indulging.
Great Sunday brunch at Whiskey Cake in Katy. It’s so convenient to be able to make a reservation for a nice breakfast / lunch / brunch on a Sunday as opposed to standing in line outside lesser establishments for an hour.
Great atmosphere, great service and great food. Very tasty, well presented and surprisingly good value especially when considering the small batch ingredients.
Dinner and cocktails here are also highly recommended!
We had reservations and were seated promptly. Food was ok but the salad I had was way too vinegary. The deviled eggs were yummy though. I would try it again on another night besides Friday.
My daughter and I stopped here for lunch. It was my second time and I loved it. Very tasty..we will be back.
First, I LOVE that this place takes reservations. This was our first time going to Whiskey Cake and we had a movie to catch so I made my reservation ahead of time and we were seated immediately upon arrival. That gives it a big leg up in my book! Now to the actual review, our server was wonderful, friendly and attentive without being annoying. The place was obviously busy but he was just outstanding in spite of that. The food was lovely. We ordered fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and my two sons had the roasted chicken and a burger respectively, they both said their food was fantastic. My husband had the short rib and he said it was superb, I tasted his vegetables and they were terrific. I had the pork ramen and it tasted just like one of my favorite dishes I used to get in Singapore. We finished off by sharing the whiskey cake for dessert and it was overall a really great experience. It was great to find a casual restaurant that takes reservations and I'm looking forward to trying them again, maybe for brunch as their brunch menu looks very interesting! Overall a total winner!
Very disappointed with the bathroom situation!! All of the restrooms are for both men and women, with an open concept. When I went to use the restroom there were 3 women waiting to use the restroom and 2 stalls open, when I looked at them it was obvious why they refused to use them. It was filthy and disgusting!! Having one gender neutral bathroom is more than sufficient, so that a father could take his daughter into a restroom for privacy. Women DO NOT want to sit on a toilet that has been peed on by a MAN!! And women DO NOT want to use a bathroom stall that a man just came out of! Even porta potties that are rented for large events are designated for women and men, not shared!
Always get the deviled eggs. They are different everytime. Finish off with a whiskey cake...its what they're known for.
Great time spent with friends. Our waitress was Jessie and she was fantastic. She had suggestions on where to start with the bourbon and whiskey flights. And the food was awesome. The manager came over to deliver our desserts and chat with us. We will definitely be back soon 😁
Great place, really enjoyed our food and the service was excellent. Will definitely return.
First time we visited we didn't even have a reservation & it was my husband's birthday. We were greeted, went to the bar for a drink & then were very promptly seated. Went back for Sunday brunch & this most recent visit was to celebrate Easter. The food is fresh and amazing. The signature cocktails are imaginative & very flavorful. I love the mimosa flights with fresh juice. Will continue to visit here to celebrate any occasion.
We enjoyed a very nice Easter brunch at Whiskey Cake. The service was excellent, the food was tasty, and we wish there had been more time to explore the Bloody Mary bar. The Mimosa flight was quite good.
Came here for Easter breakfast and as usual it was wonderful. However, when my step-son started remarking how loud the music was (you know it’s loud when a twenty-something makes a comment about noise) and how hard it was to have a nice conversation with the people in our party. The level of music made it difficult to converse, and we all wanted to ask my step-son about his new job. Not our first time at whiskey cake, but definitely our last for a while. When you go out for dinner, it’s nice to have conversations. This place didn’t allow for that.
