Whiskey Cake - Baybrook
We had a great time! Really enjoyed the drinks and the whiskey cake. I love that they source locally!
We really enjoyed the Sunday morning brunch. We will be back.
One of our fav restaurants in the area! Was great for our birthday dinner - would definitely reserve a table with them again. :)
I reserved an area for 20 people. The only complaint or criticism I have is that I signed a contract and provided credit card info. But the day of the event they would not seat us until 80% of the people showed up. Why? The restaurant had a contract and billing info so no risk to the restaurant. I highly recommend this policy be revoked. The other complaint is the $800 minimum. Why? A 20% gratuity was included and I tell you many people had never been there and will definitely be returning. So the restaurant is getting good exposure and advertisement for new clients. So I think the minimum $800 fee is overkill. We will return but we will not reserve for large parties in the future
The food, the wait staff, the environment, I can’t decide which I liked more.
We were celebrating my wife’s birthday, and The Whiskey Cake did not disappoint.
Thank you for making a special night special.
Since this was my first time attending, I called the night before to see whether it was best to set a reservation for my small party, which they recommended. Once I arrived, it was a breeze getting seated, thanks to making the reservation ahead of time. The atmosphere was great. Very clean, and very Mello. I had a dinner with my bridal party to talk about wedding plans. The food was very tasty and well prepared. However, I know the name is “whiskey cakes” which pretty much gives away they specialize in whiskey, but when asked for some other drinks with different alcohols, they did not carry many other liquors. It’s was a bit upsetting, but we managed. The waitress was also very quick to say “we don’t have that” to every other liquor that was asked about, before even checking. She even stated it once when one of my friends ordered fireball, just to turn around and say she “didn’t know they still had some.” When they had some. The beer I was served wasn’t very cold to begin with, so though, I tried to enjoy it, it got hot really fast. Their food menu is limited, but over all not too bad. The salmon was cooked to perfection, could of used a little bit of lemon, but the mixed riced and vegetables that it was laid on made it delicious. After my visit, overall, I wouldn’t mind going back for a date night, but I wouldn’t recommend as a go to restaurant if your looking for variety. My first time experience all around was good and I was happy with my visit. Hopefully, the next time I go, they will have a bit more variety.
My wife, and I are local, and dine here quite often. The food is always outstanding, and the Whiskey Cake is unbelievable. The bar has any kind of drink you can think of, not to mention a great drink menu with daily specials. Wherever you're coming from, it's worth the trip.
Good food and great service! The coffee press at the table was a nice touch.
The food, location and ambience of this location are great. Loved the Happy Hour and the small bites. Particularly the short rib with goat cheese over fries and the waghu cordogs.
Everyone’s order came out individually. Food for several people was cold - server did bring replacement of grits. Biscuits were incredibly overdone, and gravy was clumpy. Minimum amount of hollandaise sauce on Benedict.
Had to ask for syrup and S the grinders were empty, so required a short wait for replacement.
Meats were very good; pork brisket, ham and bacon.
This is a definite BBQ place and probably shouldn’t try to do breakfast; but Bloody Mary bar was nice idea.
Our waiter, Ryan was awesome. Took the time to make sure we understood everything. Came by the table multiple times to make sure we were topped off and to see if we needed anything at all. Only issues were my wife’s salad didn’t have goat cheese as stated and my pork was a bit tough. But over all great experience and will return again.
Great food and service
Really nice dinner. God service, good food, good atmosphere. The deviled eggs were interesting & good. Wish we’d have had time for the cake!
The waitress was nice but did not write our order down so of course she forgot our appetizer. Service was extremely slow and when our food arrived it was so greasy and not very tasty. Very few lower fat items on the menu. The restaurant was well decorated but it was very loud.
Food was great, service was amazing! All of the servers and employees were so kind and helpful! I love this location and will come back again and again
Good Food. We need more selections though
Service is a bit slow but servers are friendly and good.
Drinks are not refilled quickly.
The lighting at night needs improvement, you can't even read the menu since it's too dark
Always pleased. Food is exceptional, drinks are memorable and atmosphere is great for any occasion
The food was good. The price is only slightly prohibitive. I personally didn't have any issues with my reservation but I noticed that there was a very large issue with other people's seating and reservations. Drink service was slow but apparently a bartender walked out in the middle of service.
The food was average. Our server Amber was spectacular. The restaurant is lovely, but the menu not what we expected when we smelled woodsmoke. The braised short rib reminded me of my Mom’s pot roast.
Made reservations via Opentable, and arrived on time, however they did not have a table ready. We had to wait 25 minutes to be seated. Other than the seating mishap, the food and experience was wonderful. We plan to return.
I made a reservation to celebrate my sister’s birthday. We arrived a bit early. Hostess staff was friendly and seated us immediately. When seated we noticed how extremely dark it was where we were sitting, and had to use our phones to see the menus(we did request another candle which helped). It was at least 20 minutes later when our waiter finally came over and brought us water. I asked about the wine list and he showed me the back of the menu where it was located and then vanished for another 15 minutes. We had two other people joining our party which once they arrived, it was still another 5-10 minutes before he came back to the table. He then proceeded to ask if we are ready to order. He had not asked us for drink orders or if we wanted an appetizer. It was obvious that he was overwhelmed by the other tables that he had and couldn’t seem to get into his routine. Once we place our order for drinks as well as food it came out timely. The food although was very fresh tasting was not very flavorful and that was the consensus of the entire table. He did check on us a couple times during our meal. When we were all finished he did not clear the table nor did he remember anything about a birthday or ask us if we wanted dessert. I had to remind him that we had a birthday at the table and at that point he brought out a dessert but did not ask anyone else if they want a dessert. we had to request that as well.
I am in the service industry myself and realize that sometimes you do have an off night. The other item that I found interesting was that the manager, although he walked by our table 4 or 5 times, never stopped to check on us or ask us how everything was.
I always write reviews for restaurants as I think feed back, whether positive or negative will help the establishment and it’s workers become better.
Unfortunately this will be my first and last visit to Whisky Cake! As stated, I hope this was a one-off night and wish them much success in the future!
Were given wrong menus; amount of wine served was very small and complaints weren't resolved.
We were there on a Tuesday evening for happy hour. It was not very busy. The restaurant was very cold and we requested to sit out by the fireplace. Service was mediocre. We had to go inside and find a waiter and were never given a happy hour menu. Consequently, we just ordered fries to nibble with our drinks and then left. Happy hour prices for our drinks were reasonable. Wish we could have ordered more food, but it was too difficult. I looked it up on my phone, but would have rather had a menu.
Well i must say that todays experience make me not want to come back. We got seated at 1 for my RSVP we ordered our food and it took over an hour to get our food. The manager finally comes to tell us that something went wrong and pur order didn't get in. He did come and admit and apologize ans he did give us a discount. When my waffle and chicken came out it was not hot or warm. If the cook just cooked it wouldn't it be hot off the plate? My boyfriend's sandwich was good. I have only one good thing at least our waitress was good she kept on telling us our food would be out shortly but I'm sure she knew something wasn't right and got the manager. At least they admitted their mistake but doubtful ill be back anytime soon .
It was great and pleasant
I love the veggie burger
I will be back
Kenton was incredible!! The food is always amazing.
Chicken/cheese melt was delicious. The sandwich with freshly toasted bread combined with the roasted chicken, melted cheese and avocado hit the spot and was large enough to share. Denise was a very attentive waitress as well.
Whiskey cake did not have our reservation in the system. While the food was good the service was awful. No appetizers and no dessert and we were in the restaurant for over 90 minutes. Took forever for each step. We had a 3 year old with us and that only made the experience worse.
It was supposed to be or my mothers birthday but it didn’t go well at all. Probably won’t be back.
Nice restaurant, decent menu, love the decor but service is always slow... Doesn't do much for me but my girls love the place :-/
Great food, kid friendly and quick service. Clean bathrooms
Hostess at the front stand was unbelievably rude when we arrived at 7:50 for our 8PM reservation. I just wanted to "check in" so they would know our whole party was there- which she then marked "partially arrived" to delay our seating even longer. That being said, the rest of our dining experience is what gets me to leave a higher rating because our servers were amazing and even though our newlyweds did not get their promised dessert - we saw how busy they were and they were very nice. Food was very good but portions seem to be small for the price. Overall a okay experience for a small after-wedding celebration dinner. This place would be great for a date night but was not-so-great for a larger party.
Fantastic food and superb service! Can’t wait to go back!
My first time at Whiskey Cake (live out of Houston area). Truly enjoyed the experience. Hostess and server were very welcoming and gave me great suggestions on the entree and dessert. Soup was delicious as well. I hope they expand these restaurants out west!
We had a great meal. Our server was very courteous and engaging.
Nice atmosphere and quite busy. Would recommend a reservation for weekend lunch/brunch if you don’t want a wait. I really enjoyed the berry spritzer cocktail. The entrees were good, the namesake whisky cake is delicious. Highly recommend and will be back. Service was a little slow/inattentive.
Second time we have eaten here. It was good last time for lunch but dinner was even better. Excellent attention to our table without being overbearing. Food was fresh and delicious!
This was my second time at Whiskey Cake, (first time was shortly after it opened). The food overall was bland or too salty, (Duck was too salty, Short Ribs was bland, Ribeye was just okay, Beet salad had was ok but beets were badly bruised in the center making it totally unappealing to eat, Pig ears were tasteless (not what we were expecting - too much deep fried batter), Mussels were great! and the Pimms cocktail was tasty (others had wine & beer). Overall the menu's entrees were limited, no shrimp options or just other choices, pasta, etc...
