Whiskey by John Howie is the Eastside’s whiskey and craft cocktail destination for guests 21+ years old. The global selection of rare and well done whiskies has been thoroughly collected for the curious to the connoisseur by Whiskey’s in house curator, Tim Lodahl. The unique menu of delightful bar bites features new and favorite tastes crafted by proprietor John Howie and executive chef Jed Laprade.
Whiskey by John Howie is available for private events. This 1,420 square foot space - which can accommodate up to 84 people for private events - features rich, dark woods complemented by dark brick and gold accents that give the room a comfortable, stylish feel. Hundreds of rare and sought after whiskey titles elegantly adorn the main wall, just above Whiskey’s open kitchen space. John Howie Catering offers a diverse range of chef-designed specialty menus that can be customized to the unique needs and style of each event.

    Great format by John Howie. Food was excellent and the bar is fascinating as it has everything. The menu has everything from great appetizers to amazing steaks. The service was attentive and he had great recommendations. They need to align their online menu with the actual menu as some items weren’t available as we might have thought when we went through it all.

    Had a great Father’s Day light meal here, with the focus on the bourbon. Great selection! And the nachos were fantastic. Will return.

    We went for the happy hour and it was super. Had the steak bites and they were delicious. The bread pudding dessert is probably one of the best I’ve ever had. (Not on the happy hour menu) Of course we had cocktails too. The ambience was perfect and we sat in a booth.

    Always excellent food, drinks and service, this dinner was no exception. Brussels are always a nummy start, and my Vesper was one of the best EVER. Thank you for that! Service was again outstanding…attentive but not in our face. Quiet Tuesday night…hoping more people show up so the ownership doesn’t have to close down on this sometimes quiet night. You can’t beat their burger, but my husband opted for the aged steak and it was incredible. Not an inexpensive night, for sure, but a treat worth the price!

    Had a great time on a Saturday night trying everything on the happy hour menu. The drinks were made well. Balanced. The food was excellent. Some choices for everyone. We were able to try some steak, some veggies, and the signature tempura bacon. We will be back for more.

    I have seen the light, and it is in a glass. The Brown Butter High at Whiskey by John Howie isn’t just a drink—it’s a life-altering experience. If smooth, buttery bourbon had a love child with the most decadent dessert you’ve ever tasted, this would be it. From the very first sip, I felt like I had been personally hugged by a warm, slightly tipsy angel. The brown butter adds this silky, almost sinful richness, like someone melted a stick of gold and mixed it with liquid confidence. The bourbon? Oh, that deep, smoky magic glided down so effortlessly I briefly considered asking if they offer it by the bucket. Halfway through, I caught myself staring lovingly at the glass like it was my soulmate. By the end, I was contemplating writing a heartfelt thank-you letter to the bartender. Final verdict: Best. Drink. Ever. If you don’t try it, we can’t be friends.

    Great atmosphere. Food was very good, excep the cheesecake was a little dry. Superb service. Go on a weekday during 5-6:30 for Happy Hour.
