Whiskey & Oyster
It's a shame this restaurant is where it is, bc it could do a lot better it was about a mile north. Food is good, ambiance is fine, just missing a liveliness.
Food was great!
Great food, lobster bisque fries were delicious. Drinks were very good as well. Will be back!
The owner stopped by my table and thanked us personally
The evening was wonderful. Went to grab dinner with a coworker after our training class. From the time we walked in until the time we left...it was wonderful.
This could have been so good... the decor is quite nice. The food was overall pretty good. BUT, our server was awful. She mixed up our orders. Asked us to repeat and then just started over. Next she tells us they are out of lobster. Ok. But there are quite a few lobster dishes on the menu. Did someone not plan well? Then when my son ordered a burger and fries, she tells us they are out of potatoes and all they have is sweet potato fries (which he doesn’t like). Ok. Our food comes out and he asks for ketchup. She tells us they are out of ketchup. Now I’m wondering what kind of place is this!?! My friend sitting next to me tells her the dish he got was not what he ordered. She said “oh yeah”. And that was it!! Never brought him the right dish. Didn’t comp his meal. Didn’t even apologize. Wow. Just wow. I know the owner of this restaurant so I’m going to chalk it up to growing pains but it will take many months before I am ready to give it another try.
We had a very nice dining experience. The seafood tower was delicious however was not presented well. The tower looked huge with seafood that didn't quite add up to the size. Random chunks of crawfish were chopped and strewn haphazardly to try and make the top level look full. Aside from that, the food was well enjoyed and the experience was lovely.
Brought 7 members of my family to Whiskey & Oyster for a festive dinner and had a fantastic experience. The oysters were fresh and tasty, everyone raves about the crab dip, and the entrees (mostly seafood) got high marks. Really good food and good service, and not outrageously priced.
Amazing atmosphere and amazing food. We will definitely be back.
Interesting concept and great potential but at 7:30 they were out of an entree my husband ordered at 7. My she crab soup was bliss, but his appetizer was much too spicy hot. The fried oysters were nothing special, small with lots of Panko. I expected more from a restsursnt specislizing in oysters. Nevertheless, we'll be back in the hope things will get better.
Wonderful food and service
Went twice this week! Once for a fun, happy hour with 6 friends and the bartender was great! Made us all kinds of fantastic cocktails, suggested new beers to try, plus a flight of Virginia whiskey. We ordered 6 appetizers and each one was outstanding! The cauliflower was our favorite and the Belle of the Ball cocktail. Brunch was fantastic with lots of lobster and fresh oyster selections. I had the spinach pasta with shrimp and lemon-dill sauce. YUMMY! Decor is by a local artist in Old Town and we all loved the long bar table and atmosphere overall. They have their own parking garage around back! We will be regulars and taking more friends for dinner and Happy Hour. Easy in and out for everyone.. Movie theater and metro close by is a nice perk.
We had brunch here with some family (and a toddler) and everything was great. I was very impressed with the food (unlike the first time I went closer to their opening, they've clearly ironed out some kinks). The service was just OK, the server didn't know the oyster menu very well and had to check on availability more than once. BUT the oysters were fabulous, food was delicious and came out fast and hot. What more could you want?!
This was our first visit and it was quite lovely. Easy to park and greeted immediately when we walked in. Our server was delightful! The food was good and a nice change. I had the W+O Roast -Steam Pot with Lobster and it was delicious.
We loved our lunch. I had the crabcake sandwich, it was delicious. Will be back.
Excellent food at a great price! Must try in the area.
One of the best seafood meals I have had in a long time. Loved the little oyster guide they included with the menu. It helped us choose the perfect oysters for our tastes!
Oysters were fresh and flavourful. Whiskey selection was decent but overpriced. The ambiance was a bit sterile, but not bad for being in an office park.
Whiskey & Oyster was delicious and such a gorgeous restaurant! We loved having our date night there. We started with the Lobster Bisque Fries, which were so good that we were practically licking the plate, and then my boyfriend got the Lobster Steam Pot and I got the Pan-Seared Bass. Both entrees were so delicious and well done. We were too full to have dessert, but we were so impressed with the food, the presentation of the food, the decor, and the service, and we will definitely be gonig back sometime soon!
We went during happy hour, which is only available in the bar area. I have never understood why restaurants do that - offer half-price apps and discounted drinks only at the bar, not for the rest of the restaurant!? That is a minor gripe of mine...anyway, we liked the swanky feel of this place – very clean and modern. We will definitely return to try more dishes and we feel that we would go back during happy hour as well. The calamari app was amazing and the oysters on happy hour special were absolutely delicious. We shared the ahi tuna with squid ink pasta and the crab cake entree - both of which were delicious and both of which we would order again! The Old Fashion was the best we've ever tasted - we had a fun time talking with the bartender, Edward, and he was very helpful in guiding us around the cocktail menu. All-in-all a terrific place!
Nice happy hour specials and whiskey selection. The bouillabaisse was a bit short on seafood and heavy on potatoes, but the oysters were on point.
Lovely place! Great service and the menu is very unique- even for brunch. They also have White Claw Wednesdays, how could one go wrong? Highly recommend!
Food was very good. Service did not match the food. Atmosphere could be a little warmer.
First time. Last time. We were the only table our waitress had. We had to get up several times and interupt her from texting to get service. SERVICE POOR!
Went during lunch and while there weren't a lot of patrons service was slow and the food was barely mediocre. I've been before and really enjoyed my meal. But the fish and chips wasn't seasoned well nor was it worth the $12.
Excellent service and food was good too! Lots of whisky choices though very pricey.
We had a reservation, made via Open Table, that was prior to the restaurant opening time - YIKE! The restaurant realized the OpenTable mistake AND had a team of employees there waiting to welcome us. Yes - before the restaurant opened. Who does this - SOMEONE THAT CARES! We had one of the best brunches and we brunch often in the DC area. The restaurant staff was OUTSTANDING, the food was INCREDIBLE, and we will be going back at our earliest convenience. THANK YOU Whiskey & Oyster for helping to make our 40th anniversary brunch a memorable one.
We must have had a new waitress. she didn't know the menu, didn't know what things came with, didn't let us know that they were out of certain items, didn't understand us when we spoke and could only handle one task at a time.
That aside, the food was just okay. Their raw oysters were excellent and I recommend the seafood Cobb. Our mains were nothing special - I needed a knife to cut through the "crispy" skin of my fish.
My cocktail was tasty, but was served with the smallest of crushed ice cubes which caused a lot of water to be melting into my drink. It would have been better in either a birdbath glass or served on one large ice cube. my husband's whiskey was served on one large ice cube, but my dad's was served with normal ice cubes. It was strange.
We also asked to see a dessert menu, and was told that they didn't have one. The waitress read us the dessert items from her phone and couldn't even pronounce words like macerated and marscapone. The way she said it, nothing sounded appetizing so we left.
For the price, it really wasn't worth the experience.
Great balance of absolutely the best service and food quality. Would highly recommend this place.
We went in a group of 5 for a birthday dinner on a Sunday evening, so it wasn't too crowded or loud - perfect for good conversation. The service was a tad slow in bringing our drinks but all the food we ordered was fantastic! Wrapped up with a flight of whiskeys and dessert to share. Overall a delicious evening out. They have great happy hour deals too -- we will definitely be back!
Fun evening with friends.
Amazing food!! You won't be disappointed.
Great place for the food. The service left a lot to be desired.
This place has fantastic oysters. Took my wife out on Saturday night and had a wonderful evening. The service was amazing and the dessert menu cannot be missed. Will absolutely be back!
First time trying out Whiskey and Oyster, and will definitely be back! From the amazing list of whiskeys, to the menu of delicious appetizers and entrees, you won’t be disappointed. Many gluten free items as well. We enjoyed seared scallops, signature grilled oysters, smoked caprese salad, followed by a flavorful bourbon maple shrimp and grits and smoked Arctic Char. Service was outstanding! Thanks for making our special night out perfect!
I’ve visited for happy hour and like the options and this dinner visit had great service and options but the best things on the menu are the appetizers. The entree meals (trout and salmon) were not the best and the seafood was barely seasoned. We had the beignets for dessert which were warm and crispy and the sauce that comes with them is sooo good. Overall we had a great time in the restaurant but I’ll probably only visit for happy hour or just to experience the bar.
This place is awesome. Fantastic menu, craft drinks and speedy service. Alex took great care of us and we’ll certainly return again soon!
The food was fantastic. We were a party of five - shared a number is small plates and ordered a variety of entrees - everyone was very happy. Standouts - seafood tower, lobster bisque fries, kung pao cauliflower, crab cakes, and sweet potato French toast! Good drink menu too!
Fabulous food and love vibe! Service was friendly but slow. Know they haven’t been open that long, and hope the get the kinks worked out soon.
Everything about this place is amazing! The food was phenomenal, the service perfect, the atmosphere warm and friendly. Can't wait to go back!
