Our server was superb. She was so polite and personable.
We’ve been to Wheelhouse many times and chose to celebrate our wedding anniversary there. Fred, our server, was great! The food, delicious, as always! Loved my cocktail, Hotlips, so yummy. We will continue to return to Wheelhouse time and time again.
We were celebrating birthdays and out of town family in for a visit. We had a party of 8 which was easily accommodated this Friday night (although we did make a reservation). We were seated at a high top which was perfect. We were able to mix & mingle & switch seats so all could converse with one another. Food was varied and all delicious. Three of us had the gnocchi withe beef ragu, Two the salmon, two the trout and one lone pork belly. Everyone cleaned their plates. Our server handled our crowd with ease and helped with our wine selection since I was unfamiliar with most wines on the list. A fun & relaxing night with family.
Parking was difficult due to construction. When we got there we saw they had valet parking. Next time! And we we will be back.
A wonderful place to stop for a relaxed, superb dining experience. A favorite of mine before evening cultural events (ballet, concerts, etc.).
Imaginative cocktails, creative locally-sourced menu.
Lively music tracks; upscale architecture (wood, chrome, glass, fireplaces).
Kate is great at the bar; Gazy (at the bar, or tableside) knowledgeable and friendly.
All was good!
We chose Wheelhouse for Mother’s Day because we had a good experience there at the invitation of a friend over Easter. Unfortunately, this latest experience was not altogether positive. Started out well, with good cocktails. However, my food (their prime rib special) came out stone cold. When I commented about this to our waiter, I was told that they would “re-do” it. A few minutes later, it came back blowing steam. It was obvious that it was the same plate/food and that they had just put it into a microwave or similar device for an extended period of time. As a result, my prime rib that was supposed to be pink to red was now brown to grey. The manager came by to apologize but I didn’t take away the sour taste. On top of that, while my family was still eating their meal (and I was waiting for mine to come back) we were told that it was “last call” for bith drinks and deserts. Mind you, our reservation was @ 18:30; not like we were coming in late.
So, not a pleasant experience.
We went for Mother's Day Brunch - the food and service were great. Lot's of great brunch offerings with a carving and omelet station.
Wife and I thought the food was great. Atmosphere for Mother’s day was inviting and perfect for families. Our 3 year old daughter got a little loud at times and we did not feel as if we were ruining anyone’s meal or received looks from staff. Our server was not always attentive at times and towards the end of our meal did not come back to check on us so it was close to 15 minutes after we were done eating that I finally asked another staff member to find our server. He also forgot to give my wife her heirloom tomato.
Wheelhouse is a fabulous restaurant. The food is excellent. The service is perfect. Our server was attentive but not hovering. The date appetizers are a must have.
Overall service and ambiance were nice. The food was average for the 120$ spent for 2 people plus a toddler. We got 1 app, 2 entrees, 1 kids plate, and a dessert. Also they did not have cappuccino which I wanted after my meal.
This was my 4th time here and probably my last. The first few times here were great. This time we had terrible service (very slow and it wasn’t even busy). I ordered the cheese plate because I wasn’t that hungry. I love all kinds of cheese, but none of them were good. I had 3 bites and could not even stomach more. It was listed as “market price” which turned out to be $19! Completely not worth it. I was with friends who had been before as well and they did not like their food either. Overall, not sure this place will be open much longer if things don’t change.
Sat at bar for great cocktails, happy hour and dinner. Great food and service
Put on the spot to find a place for 7 for a work lunch so I picked Wheelhouse as I had never been before. The food was absolutely amazing!! Had an extremely hard time with picking something off of the menu...everything sounded incredible. The food coming out of the kitchen to other tables..."ooh, that looks good....Oh, so does that, oooh, what's that?", was all that was coming from our table :-) Will definitely go back!!
The food was fantastic and the service was great. The appetizers and entrees have a creative spin to them which makes this place unique. Awesome restaurant.
First we started with the deviled eggs and tuna tar tar. Delish! Very good flavor! I had the salmon with cauliflower couscous. My husband had the pork belly with crispy Brussels and cauliflower rice. They were both great dishes. We’d definitely go back! One of the best meals we’ve had!
Superb! Food and service were outstanding
Excellent food and very accommodating for gluten free member of our party.
Chicken and steak were very dry. First time at this restaurant and I won't be going back. The price makes it tough to go back and take the chance of having a bad dining experience. I've heard really great things about this place but I was definitely not impressed with the food. The service on the other hand was exceptional! Super friendly and attentive.
I reserved a table at Wheelhouse for a bachelorette patry dinner and was not disspointed. The service was amazing, our waiter was very nice and quick to bring our meals out. He explained the menu very well, as we had never dined here before, and he also gave his top recommendations. The inside of the restaurant is very modern, clean, and pretty with a glass fireplace. I loved that it was right downtown Grand Rapids, especially since we had plans for the evening in downtown. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Second time at the Wheelhouse and it didn’t disappoint! Four in our party, 4 different meals, 4 happy people! We will definitely be back!
Happy with everything at this place but it wasn’t a complete “unique” experience. Great food and drinks - the atmosphere was nice and upscale/hip cannot complain just expected something/ambiance to make it stand out.
Went for dinner before GVSU graduation. Place was bustling! Service was attentive and expedient. Fabulous food an atmosphere!! Thank you!
Family get together for my son’s graduation from GVSU. Service was top notch. Food was excellent and portions very generous. The French Onion Soup was awesome. Be sure to have the donut holes for dessert.
The menu changes which was a bummer but the new items were really good.
Love the Wheelhouse. One of my favorite restaurants in downtown GR.
Sometimes in life, tuition is expensive. This week we paid a large tuition bill at the Wheelhouse. As drinks requests were being taken, the waitress told us they were offering a "special" pinot noir. Thinking that a special offering would be in the realm of reasonable price, nobody asked the price and the price wasn't offered. When we got the bill, we learned that the "special" was almost twice the cost of the most expensive pinot noir on the menu. Lesson = always ask about the price of specials. Lesson for restaurants: always tell customers the price of the specials...especially when the cost goes far beyond the realm of reasonable relative to other standard choices.
Everything about our dinner was lovely. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming while being upscale. Josiah was our server and he was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu and cocktails. He gave us just the right amount of time between courses, checked on us just enough, and had a very genuine personality.
We love Wheelhouse! The menu always sounds delicious, the food is always tasty and the service is always great. Perfect date night spot or a great night out with your girls! The ambiance is fresh and modern but it’s definitely not stuffy. Highly recommend!
The Wheelhouse is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots. Our waiter was one of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. The food is so flavorful and everything I've tried I have loved. Would highly recommend for a night out! The prices are very reasonable for the value.
the hostess was very nice and very knowledgable on the menu. steak was just ok, kale salad way too big.
crab cakes good, soups good
Wheelhouse never disappoints! The Pierogies were great and the service was excellent! This was my 3rd visit and it was just as wonderful as the first. We were attending a concert at the Van Andel and our waiter had asked if we were going. He was attentive and made sure we were served and wrapped up on time. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Much appreciated!!
A return customer. nice atmosphere and food very good. service was good but a bit slow this time. we had res at 530 before a 7:00 concert so they were busy, and we were late. We will be back.
This was our first time at the Wheel House and we will be back. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional.
We always enjoy our time here. Excellent food and excellent service.
Good staff. Food was tasty. Definitely worth trying this restaurant.
Wheelhouse has a great location downtown. Close to the arena. The ambiance is also great, open, lots of windows, high ceiling and not loud. The food was awesome and large selection of beers and wine.
This was our second time to the Wheelhouse. I love their menu! Unique dishes, beautiful presentation and excellent service.
Or family of 5 came to celebrate Easter with brunch. We had reserved a table for 5 with one high chair. We were seated at a table for 4 with no room for a high chair. We improvised and used a booster for our youngest. She is still a bit small for a booster and I was disappointed that our reservation request wasn’t met. However, the service and food was excellent. We will definitely be back.
Birthday celebration. Great food as always !
Had really wonderful service and amazing food. My friend and I had a great time catching up and enjoying someplace new.
