I was genuinely surprised at the quality and authentic variety of food. Being a bit of a food snob, having lived a number of years in Mascalucia, I tend to be picky/disappointed with a lot of Italian restaurants for the general spaghetti and meatballs type of menu selections and processed quality ingredients.
Not so here!
You can taste the difference. And the prices were so much more affordable than I would expect for the taste. Well worth the hour drive!
I am new to the area and saw some nice reviews about this place. Was excited to see arancini on their menu. They were delicious! Also loved with fresh meatballs with fresh ricotta cheese
We have eaten at the Wheat and Water on many occasions and the food has been outstanding and the service has been excellent every time. We have recommended it to many of our friends and they have enjoyed it also. One of our favorite restaurants.
Milton, our server, was excellent as usual. Shrimp and scallops were delicious, as was the veal marsala. Like to see them institute a smaller plate of some of their entrees. But, everything was great tonight!
All around great Italian restaurant one of the best of the area definitely recommended i
Great menu selection. Special requests were no problem and all the food was served hot and exactly as requested. It was our friends first visit and they plan to return soon. It's one of our favorite places.
Took my dad and family here for birthday dinner. Food was excellent! I’m Italian and pretty picky. This place was awesome! I’ll going back for more!
Once again we had a fabulous meal at Wheat + Water Italian Kitchen. We love to go there because is reminds us of our favorite restaurant in New York.
A must try
Consistent high quality food, great dinner, a real keeper
Milton the waiter was great. Great time.
Authentic Italian food. My veal parmesan was delicious and my husband loved his pizza - it was a thin crust pizza with a generous portion of meat. The salads are very fresh and cold. The service was excellent. We had a slight problem when we were there and the chef/owner bent over backwards to make it right. This is our favorite area Italian restaurant - most like NY/NJ Italian fare.
This local spot turned out to be a hidden gem. We have been meaning to try it since it opened, and somehow never had - that is now a major regret.
The food was excellent, and the prices were also. They used fresh, high quality ingredients, and new how to bring them together beautifully. It was refreshing that they did not have a stock menu that duplicated every other restaurant in the area.
My husband and I are both major foodies, and this place delivered on quality and preparation. We went at what should have been a terrible time for the restaurant - the end of the evening when they had actually started to shut-down early. The staff was gracious and meal presented was wonderful, authentic italian. We were not rushed, and they did not try and steer us to dishes they wanted to get rid of at the end of the day.
This is now going to become a regular place for us. I highly recommend others try it, it is worth the trip.
We were lured in by their anniversary dinner and drink specials. Unfortunately, so was everyone else - the place was full and crowded but we had a reservation and got seated on time. With it being a warm day and with the large crowd it was uncomfortably warm inside. The service was okay considering the big crowd. I thought the lasagne portion was a bit stingy but the food was very tasty as always.
The service is excellent as is the food. My one concern is since i'm am a weekly patron and make a reservation asking for a specific table. I have not been given that table. I called about 35 minutes before my last reservation to remind the hostess. She said, no problem and when I arrived she had given the table to another diner.
service was horrible--after ordering iced teas and sodas waiter came to table 2 times because he couldn't remember our drinks (he was too busy chatting with others), we ordered appetizers, 15 mins later he came to our table with bread. we inquired about the appetizers, he said, "oh i'm sorry, i forgot them, i never put them in. i can do it now, the risotto balls will be out shortly but the meatballs will take much longer" we said we still wanted them. 5 mins later he brought out the risotto balls, and 3 mins later the meals arrived. never got the meatballs and never mentioned it the rest of the night. he knew we were celebrating a birthday and wanted dessert, he never asked, just cleared our dishes. when he tried to give the check we stated we were ordering dessert. he took our order, 20 mins later dessert and coffee arrived. at that time we did ask for the check and it took another 15 mins to bring it. we put our credit card in the holder and it sat on the table for another 20 mins before he took it and 10 mins before he returned it. he only had 3 tables waiting on. service was horrible!
We love this place. Never disappointed. Food is amazing.
The server was great.
The vodka sauce was not good. It seemed as though it was not cooked enough. Vodka was very strong and overpowered sauce. It's the second time I had it. I did not remember it was like that or would not have ordered. Also red sauce was good but very little put on pasta.
Also vegetarian two were with me and the waitress was not accomodating. She would not allow them to have choice of pasta type on their dish. And all it was was pasta with sauce.
Salad was very good. Sour dough bread was excellent but was not offered oil with it. Desert apple pie had mimimal apples. It was excellent time before but just average this time.
The fettuccine and salads were excellent.
Overall good experience.
Love Wheat and Water! The food and service are wonderful! So happy this restaurant continues to excel.
My eggplant parm with a side of strignbeans were awesome, our artichoke appetizer was great as well. The toss salad and the Italian chocolate cheesecake were outstanding.
The scallops, not so much. Gritty (sand/shell?). Too much risotto. A vegetable to offset all that starch would have been a better idea.
Our fault for not bringing it to Tim's (our server) attention.
Will be back to give it another try.
We had reservations, sat right down but it took over an hour to be served after we ordered our appetizers, the waiter was very good and apologized many times he didn't say it but it was obvious there was a problem in the kitchen, the food was good but waiting that long for your food is no fun!
Service wasn’t great. Had to ask for water three times. Linguine and clam sauce needed salt, pepper and lemon but the clams were tasty. Drinks, salads and appetizers were great! Good happy hour prices!
Each time we have dined here has been a very positive experience, keep up the good work.
My wife and I are very picky eaters. The calamari was perfectly cooked. The base wine was very good. Very nice pours. My main course was excellent, chicken breast with prosciutto. My wife had a pasta dish that we both found a bit boring, very basic flavors, needed a more flavorful topping. Overall a very good experience. Service was excellent.
Once again, this place has exceeded our expectations. Our special request reservation was honored without hesitation. Our server was knowledgeable, patient, and very pleasant. And the food!!! Can’t be beat. No matter what we order, it’s always just right. Wheat & Water is the best affordable Italian Restaurant within this region.
Great food and excellent service. Our third time back and brought another couple. They super enjoyed it. Thanks again.
Wheat and Water is chef-owned and it shows. The food is outstanding and service is good. We try to go there weekly when we are in town.
Went with a friend for dinner. Made reservation and seated promptly. Server was good but forgot our app order. Didn't need it as the main portions were good but a tad pricey for the location. Glass of wine pour was also weak for $9. My main (shrimp and scallops) was very good. Friends pasta was not cooked properly and stuck in clumps. Place has potential.
Drinks, food, and service were all outstanding. All menu items are a good value and our friends all enjoyed their different entrees.
Excellent pasta! Absolutely live the grilled artichoke appetizer! It is amazing.
Overall dining experience very good. However for
Easter no special attention given ie tablecloths, holiday decor or flowers. Only one special entree not on menu.
Owners present but not very sociable.
Food was great as always!
If you don’t mind the noise when the restaurant is full.
Easter weekend had relatives in for the holiday.
Great as usual. We have been going here since it opened. Always very good.
This restaurant is one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. The food is always freshly prepared and the service is excellent. The menu has many options and the food is served with pasta, potatoes, or a vegetable. A salad or soup is also included with the dinner. There is a great selection of creative appetizers and some excellent choices for dessert. Cheers to Wheat and Water for a great dining experience!
The service was terrible. The food was really good. Even after asking politely for better service, it didn’t happen. Maybe our server was new, I am really not sure but they need to step it up.
Great food, quick seating, good service. Highly recommend this restaurant !!!!
We stumbled upon this place last year on our annual spring training trip. The food is great and the staff very attentive and enjoyable. It's on our list of places we must return to each year.
Best Italian food in town...cant wait until season is over so we can have our restaurants back...i know selfish! Yummy every time....ask for Milton or Irene....great servers but all are great!
