Westside Tavern Ratings and Reviews
This is a good neighborhood place esp for before and after the LANDMARK. The problem is that there are very few vegetarian options except for good flatbread that is loaded with cheese. Their are NO salads on the menu without meat or fish and I was charged $7 for overdressed lettuce since there was no salad option. They could really expand their vegetable options to appeal to the neighborhood where they are.
A great bet after the movies...pleasant atmosphere without spending a fortune. Only one glass of wine was ordered for our party of four. One individual had the trout, one a sandwich, one turkey burger and one veggie burger (my wife seemed to enjoy it....I thought it was very mushy). Everything was good and delivered as ordered. Delighted they are now taking reservations as we rarely visited the restaurant, but now seem to be going twice a month once we are assured we are not going to have to wait 20 minutes for the table. They seem to honor the system by seating you exactly as reserved.
We come here often. Consistently delicious, clean food which is both simple and modern. This visit our server Lucy G was great, so warm and professional, she recommended the whole Thai Snapper which I loved. The vibe is always good from the moment you step into the door and it doesn’t hurt that the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and the added comfort of the space.
We frequent this restaurant, maybe not weekly, but definitley more than monthly. This visit was different in that we were seated in a back room; I think they call it the Cedar Room. It was nice back there, semi-private and quiet. The downside was that the service was very slow. I would only recommend that room if you are in no kind of rush. Other than that, I'm sure we'll visit the Westside Tavern again, but probably not the Cedar Room.
"Upscale" dining that is reasonably priced and not too "upscale" (fussy). Seasonal options mean that there are always adventurous specials on the menu along with reliable comfort dishes like the grilled cheese sandwich. Food is ample but never heavy, and always delicious. We also appreciate that they take special requests and will accommodate dietary needs. A great place.
Slightly disappointing meal at Westside Tavern. Food, as usual, was very nice. Server Matt was pleasant and accommodating. However, in the midst of our appetizers runners brought our entrees with total disregard that we were not finished with salads. Unprofessional and made us feel rushed. Then, they neglected to pay attention to my informing them it was an important birthday and not even a happy birthday was rendered.
We've been coming to Westside Tavern since Warren opened it years ago and we've had a couple of special events in their private room in back. This service was not up to their usual standards. Good food with mediocre service is not something we need to drive half an hour to enjoy!
This is a reliable place to visit before or after a movie at the Landmark. They have a great Cobb Salad, Shrimp Tacos, Burger, salmon, roasted brussell sprouts. I'm not a big drinker but they have a number of signature cocktails on the menu. I look forward to working my way through the rest of their menu.
We arrived 20 minutes early for our reservation and were still seated immediately. I only eat one cheeseburger in Los Angeles and Westside Tavern makes it perfect every time. I just wish they would play piano jazz or something more appropriate to the setting over their system. The music varies from 80s to rap to ambient to who knows what else. I still love the Westside Tavern.
Outstanding, as always. Westside Tavern is a solid dining performer in all categories. I love this place. Drove there from Glendale for my birthday dinner b/c it's my favorite place to eat. I had the trout and it was delicious. Everyone in our party loved their meal. The service was fantastic - attentive, friendly and not overbearing or inauthentic.
I've been to Westside Tavern many times and always enjoyed the food and service. This time I was annoyed because after making my reservation on Open Table and enjoying our meal I arrived home to get an email telling me I missed my reservation. I called the manager and she evidently did correct it as I received this review email from Open Table. Also I was so upset to find that when my friend asked for bread after ordering a $25.00 entree we were charged $4.00 for bread! I think that is outrageous.
We had a delicious meal. We both ordered the Bistro Filet which was very filling. The sauce was delicious as were the potatoes. The broccoli side was so flavorful with the added mint and pecorinni cheese. My favorite item overall however was the sticky toffee cake for dessert. I could just go there for that once a week.
They do fish very well and have a good selection prepared in many different ways. I enjoyed the salmon with black rice -- very nice presentation and generous portion. The "Johnny cake" or corn bread, as they call it - is a shareable slice - very tasty. My friend enjoyed a very large salmon salad and was happy with the variety of vegetables it contained. We'll go back, especially since it's so close to the LANDMARK movies............
Really enjoyed the fact that they now take reservations!!!! Never went in the past because the line was always too long after the movies. We enjoyed the Caesar Salad (dressing could be a little bit better), mushroom flat bread (very good) and the mac and cheese. We had no liquor and the bill was $49.33 including tax and tip for the two of us. The other couple seemed to enjoy their meal also.
The food was delicious as always. The cheeseburger w bacon is simply divine. Love the sweet potato fries too. However, the service was exceptional. We dine here every Friday night and always have good service, but John from NEw York goes above and beyond every single time we have him as our server. He is quite exceptional!
