With two children and three adults, we were all able to choose something we enjoyed from the menu. I particularly like the tempura green beans as a starter to share & was not disappointed. Parking is easy and three hours free which, in car centric LA, is a real plus. The restaurant is not in my neighborhood and is usually a 30 minute drive, but I’ll return frequently...always a pleasant experience.
Consistently good food at a convenient neighborhood spot
Very crowded and loud after 6:00 on weekends. Fast service. Food (at least my salad) less carefully prepared than in the past.
The food, service, and ambience was excellent! We love the different menu choices! Everything was hot and delicious!
Philip, our server, was pleasant and he brought our food the way we asked it to be.
The wine that we wanted had frozen, for the temperature in the fridge was too cold, so he brought us another white wine that was comparable.
I asked for my hamburger to have no bun, but to use double lettuce to be able to hold it in my hand when I eat it. Philip listened to what I wanted and brought my food exactly the way I asked for it.
The hamburger tasted wonderful.
We were 20 mins late but staff did an amazing job finding our party a table. Server was very friendly, food came out on time, and cocktails were on point. I will come back again!
Philip (?) Selena, our server, was wonderful.
Over the past few years, the portions have gotten smaller and the prices higher. Also, the preparation of the food has become a bit sloppy (i.e., chopped salad not really chopped).
I had a delicious plate of halibut off the special menu. It was really fresh and tasty. Our server was helpful and accommodating.
We have been going to the Westside Tavern for many years. We always thought that the food was great . Our dishes were not good. My husband had the crab in a pasta. I think that it had three pieces of crab meat--and the dish was so drenched with butter sauce that it was swimming with oil. On top of that, the pasta was overdone. I had the trout, that was not fresh and was not good. We did not complain, because we were dining with our friends and did not want to make a fuss.
It is convenient to go there after a movie at the Landmark, but I think this was our last time at this restaurant.
We arrived and were promptly greeted by name. The ambiance was simple, clean and cheerful. Our food and service were excellent and presented nicely at the correct temperature.
My wife and I will return for dinner in the future. I confidently recommend giving this place a try and take in a movie next door afterwards.
The shrimp tacos are fantastic. The calamari and shrimp appetizer is very good but could be a little bigger.
We always have a Wonderful meal! Very Good Service & staff!
My Favorites ; Buttermilk Fried chicken, crispy shrimp taco, lamb dip sandwich, Grilled fruit Burrata salad, crispy green beans, Chicken liver Mousse & toffee cake!
They have a great menu, whether for drinks, snacking or light meals, or full dinners. The place was very energetic, but the staff were always responsive. Energetic or noisy, it's a place for lots of conversation, not quiet contemplation.
Always an excellent meal and wonderful service. One of my favorite restaurants in WLA. Aaron is a fabulous waiter!!!
perfect dining experience.. will go back for sure..
We had a late lunch/early dinner after a movie. My friend had the tomato soup and the humus plate. The soup was a little too thick with more acidity than she preferred. However, she did enjoy her humus plate. I had the pan roasted halibut with green tomato salsa which sadly didn't work. The sauce did not compliment the fish which was extremely bland and the corn cake was too hard. . For dessert we shared an order of beignets that were delicious.
Good service and full menu. Pen lights too bright on tables.
My husband and I eat here regularly as super convenient for the movies and reservations are always honored. Check in team super friendly and capable. Think it is time to change the menu a bit! Fried chicken good, but tiniest chicken in town. Lamb sandwich too salty. Same three choices for sides w/sandwich for years. Burger still perfect. Fish options should be expanded. Cocktails getting very pricey!
Food is always good. With a reservation, always seated on time. However, considering myself a regular, I have had several different servers and some have been great and others have been arrogant and have shown their discontent with being busy. Requesting separate checks for five people is no longer a possibility because there is no time. And, a recent request for change to be able to leave a cash tip , was met with, “Can’t, too busy.” It remains a comfortable restaurant with good food.
Very disappointed marys chicken off the menu ..menu too limited
Movie and dinner. Food was excellent. Much better than a short time ago.
Lamb dip sandwich was excellent. Server was attentive and helpful. Great local spot.
so many delicious options on the menu - everything looked so good and was very tasty! a great place to have a healthy meal in a wonderful ambiance.
For a late-night meal after a movie at Landmark it's the perfect location. Nice menu, great beer and wine list, and not too crowded. Just be warned that you can order entree's from the "blackboard" which is a little confusing but your waiter will help.
Good, interesting food but a bit pricey for the venue.
This is a great place to get an excellent cocktail and food before a movie. The service is good and prompt. My only complaint would be the level of music when you are sitting along the back wall. They would do better to embrace the dining experience as a convivial time to converse and cut the noise...
I’ve dined here for many years but the last two times this ast month, the food simply not good. Last month I ordered a salad I’d enjoyed before but this thine the ingredients weee changed without any note on menu or via waitperson. This time the suggestied gluten free “adjustments”to the lamb “sandwich made it inedible, steamed not sautéedas stared & impossible to hold. And the potatoe meal soups was thick and pasty. A gluten free menus with real, decent choices is needed, not catch as catch can substitutions. I won’t go here again for awhile.
Good casual spot for business
Salads were served with brown lettuce—very unappetizing
I love this place! From the ambiance to the food to the service and friendliness of the staff. Whether you're in the mood for family night, date night or girls night this is definitely a fun place to be! The food is super delicious that you'll want to come back for more!
Always delicious food plus great service. One of my favorite go to restaurants!!!!
Food always good.
Important to make a reservation; popular and convenient after movie.
Reservation desk very friendly.
Waiters always cheerful and prompt.
We have been here many times and it never fails to make for a great relaxing and fun evening
Long waits so recommend reservation. Worth it. Have had the fabulous fried chicken, and salmon. I'd trust anything on the menu.
Date night, enjoyed everything. We sat at 730, the place was packed and loud. By 830 half empty and more relaxed.
I think that the price has become a bit higher and I am sure they have increased prices so its a bit over priced, would only go there for convenience.
we love coming here before or after the movies.
not very generous with alcohol pour but overall
we enjoy this restaurant!
As usual, Westside Tavern is a great place to grab a good cocktail and dinner after a movie. The bar is excellent and the food is good. Most people go to enjoy a dinner with friends. I was unhappy that the music seemed louder and more frenetic than I remember it ever being before. LA restaurants have such a problem with noise pollution and it’s often impossible to converse. WT has never suffered from this, so I hope they cut the music...
Went there for my birthday, so that says it all. Love it!
