Perfect spot for a quiet meal. The view lends itself to watching the world go by, even on a rainy Saturday.

At West Row the food was fine, but not exciting. The service was very good but the restaurant is so loud conversation is a struggle.

Food was good but service was not. Restaurant was not at capacity and yet waiter was not attentive at all. Took over 20 minutes for us to receive our check after informing him we were ready for it.

The food and service was fabulous. My only complaint was the noise level got a little crazy and it was hard to listen to friends(there were only 4 of us).We ate at 6:30 and the noise level was fine then. But, the closer we got the 8:30 it got very noisy. We got a table away from the bar to decrease the noise level. That did not really help.

My friend and I went to this restaurant for lunch based on an in-law's recommendation. When we arrived there were two window tables available, but instead, they seated us in the middle between two other couples against the far wall. So much for making an early reservation. We both enjoyed our meals and had a very personable waitress, but my meal was mostly lettuce (curry chicken salad wrap) with a little bit of chicken salad. I literally forked lettuce out of my wrap to find the chicken salad. In the end, it really was delicious. It was just very skimpy. I was also surprised to get a bag of chips on my plate as the look of the restaurant led me to believe that I would get the chips on the plate without the bag. LOL Would I go back? If I was in the area, perhaps. Would I make a special trip out of my way like I did this time? I doubt it.

great addition to the Newburyport restaurant scene - not big but comfortable, nice artwork, great view of Market Square, and excellent service. Nice menu and great-tasting meals

Very mediocre food, at best. Limited menu, what we had was not what we had hoped for.

I had the tuna tartar and the sliders. Both were delicious, but I especially loved the tartar. That will definitely be my go-to app in the future. My husband had the spicy shrimp with penne and that also was delicious. We've had lunches there as well, that have been consistently good.

Second time there. Great salads. Wine is very good. Menu is not overwhelming with nice selections and options but not too much. Recommend. Good decor. Comfortable.

Love the location and the ambience of the café/restaurant. We ordered a lobster dip for an appetizer, a chicken Caesar salad with shrimp and decided to split a cheeseburger. The dip was very tasty but there wasn’t much lobster and other items - although there was a ton of sour cream in the dip mix. The Caesar salad with shrimp was absolutely wonderful – the best item of the night. The cheeseburger wasn’t to my liking personally, (For the same price you can get the best burger in town at Brick and Ash) The waitress was great, she noticed we didn’t eat the burger and inquired. They ended up taking it off of the bill which was very nice of them. Based upon the ambience and the great service, I will definitely give this place another try.

Had a date night with my wife so we decided to try this place out for the first time. We've been to many of the fine restaurants around town. I saw an article in Northshore Magazine which is how we landed here.

I will say the place looked great aesthetically. Clean, modern, vibrant. Almost too vibrant (place was packed and loud) but we typically don't mind. Our server was training someone and probably over seated which made sense for the slower service. We weren't in a rush so no biggie.

I had picked out one of my favorite dishes in advance, the 1/2 chicken. I was disappointed however. It was overcooked/chewy and there was not much flavor/sauce to speak of. My wife's dish was great. She had the seafood stew.

The oysters to start were good as well as dessert (lava cake and creme brulee).

For the good and the bad, we will try this place again... perhaps on a weekday night as I think this visit was a fluke.

Great food and drinks. Service was spot on. Music was a bit out of place - too loud and put of character for the setting. Overall I'd recommend it!

This was our first time at the restaurant. We had a window table which was very nice. The inside was small with only 14 tables which were close together. The bar area took up the other half of the restaurant. The food was very good and the facilities were very clean. Our waitress was attentive. The only downside was the noise level. We were there at lunchtime and it did get noisy. It will be nice when they expand this Spring/Summer with tables on the outside patio. I will definitely be back to try other appetizer and entrees.

Our first visit to the West Row Cafe overall was very good. The waitress was attentive, pleasant, and was very willing to make minor changes in our orders. The menu is somewhat limited but certainly adequate. We each had a salad and an entree. The food was presented well; my wife's chicken dish was well prepared, and my pork tenderloin was good but a little over-cooked.
Dessert was also very good, so all-in-all a nice evening. We will certainly return, but reservations will likely be important to have!

Difficult to hear my friend. Food fresh and tasted good but I was surprised that the grain salads were ice cold. I had grilled shrimp on top so the meal was a jarring mix of warm shrimp and very cold grains.
