West Restaurant at Hotel Angeleno Ratings and Reviews
Joined several business friends for dinner recently at West. Views are outstanding. Ask for a window table. Quality and presentation of food was excellent. However, we were constantly looking to flag down our waiter. Twice we sent the water server to chase down our waiter. He even walked by our table three times looking away! The restaurant was full and maybe they were short staff? Maybe the waiter was incompetent? Maybe they need another training session?
The service was excellent. The ambience was beautiful & the live music put the total dining experience over the top. We loved our waiter. He made our dining experience excellent. Although it states no tiping on the receipt he definitely deserved a large tip. Out of all the restaurants we went to in LA this weekend for Birthday celebration this restaurant & staff take the cake. Everything perfect. He gave excellent food recommendations & it even tasted better because of how we were treated. I would come back here over & over again
INCREDIBLE! We were all blown away by how fantastic this restaurant was. Originally going for the view, I wasn't expecting a 5 star experience, but that's what we got. Every aspect of the evening was perfect. The servers were friendly, the drinks were great, the ambiance was lovely, but most importantly the food was outstanding. Every dish that came to the table was even better than the last. The lamb was quite possibly the best dish I've had all year. Will definitely be returning and can't wait to share this experience with friends.
We were served by Henry and he did a superb job serving us and informing us of all the specials and making recommendations. He was very attentive and even suggested a free appetizer on Yelp. We got free drinks from the manager and free desert for my fiancée for her birthday. It was overall great time with my love and friends!
We didn't have the opportunity to actually dine, as we were unaware of the restaurant being reserved for a special event. We were not informed of this prior, and showed up only to be sent to the lower floor, which holds only a few tables an essentially no view. How about telling us before showing up, when I specifically requested a table near the window?
I wanted a place with a view but the food and service had to be top-notch. After some research turned up fancy places with great views and mediocre reviews, we ended up at West on a recommendation from a co-worker. The view is breathtaking, ambiance is very chill background music is perfect and service is friendly if a bit stumbly in shift transitions. It's a gem of a spot and we'll definitely be back, with both clients and friends.
This was my 100th time dining at the West, however it was my guests first. Unfortunately, they didn't mention there was a closed event happening in the main dining room, which is the most accessible way to the city view. The attending waiter was new and clumsily dropped the asparagus in the chair and on my purse, harming nothing except his pride and diminishing the dining experience we anticipated.
I definitely pardon the mistake, the oversight rehashing the main dining hall being occupied, but I don't pardon the lack of consideration. Management should've been informed and then an apology for the inconvenience.
I would still recommend this restaurant.
First visit. Ordered the Brie (sandwich) and Bisque. Best tomato bisque EVER. However the so called Brie sandwich was mostly unmentioned American or some other orange cheese with a few teaspoon sized pieces of Brie. Saving money? Not a good idea to fool customers. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. No second visit planned...
Having made a reservation one month in advance, and having had that reservation confirmed, when six of us arrived for a celebratory brunch, we were told that "the restaurant is much busier than expected [and that] there may be a problem seating you." A brief chat with the manager resolved this glitch. While the staff were well-intentioned, there were not enough of them to adequately serve the number of patrons. The live music was so loud as to make conversation difficult. With the wonderful view & the good food, it is very disappointing that this restaurant doesn't seem to be able to get its act together.
The view is incomparable in the Los Angeles area. The food is always good, and the Service on this particularar day was exceptional. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone I know. It is not overpriced, the overall ambiance is great and the staff is friendly and attentive. Good for business lunches, romantic dinners, and just to get together to have some fun.
We went here for Father's day brunch. I ordered the steak and eggs with steak cooked as medium well. And the rest of the family ordered their food. After 30 minutes of waiting, I added pastries or at least some bread since we are all starving and waiting. Foods were served after 45 minutes together with the bread and an over well-done steak with a meat that looks like old. And the rest of the family we're also disappointed with theirs. No wonder there were a lot of vacant seats during father's day where all restaurants are packed.
Not sure which was worse, the food or the service. We waited an hour for our food & when it came two of the orders were wrong - rare burger with avocado & onion came well done with neither.Four ingredient omelet came with cheese instead of 1 of the requested vegetables. Croissants served without any butter or jam. We had to ask 4 times for coffee refills as waiter walked by our table, oblivious. Under duress, manager finally comped the meal.
Nice view & complementary valet doesn't compensate.
We went for Father's Day. The view was the best thing. The menu selection for brunch/breakfast left little to be desired. Boring and limited. The service was fine. However, the food took forever to come out. The restaurant was barely half full so not sure why the kitchen was so slow. The table next to us who were seated before us also complained the kitchen was taking too long. I had seen the great reviews on Open Table which is why I booked but and as I stated, it was fine but with all the great restaurants in LA, I won't be going back.
We came for brunch on Mothers's Day. Had reservations for 5.. 4 adults 1 small child at 10:00AM..They were not ready and we had to sit in strange area. No one offered us any thing to drink as we sat and sat sand sat..Finally we asked and they sat us at a partially set table..Again no one asked if we wanted anything to drink..Finally about 10:45 they said the buffet was ready..but it was only the cold dishes..so we got food and sat down..again no one asked if we would like something to drink. We flagged down a waiter and got coffee and water....it was so so food..no drinks of kind were offered..when they cleared our plates they took our silverware but did not replace it..when we got back with some sort of hot food we had to scrounge around for silverware from other tables..the place was basically empty.
The SHOCKER came when we got the bill..We were charged $563.33 YES THAT IS RIGHT $563.33,,,, We were with a young couple and did not want to embarrass them..I gave them my credit card..Later when I called to complain they said it was $119.00 for each adult and $42.00 for the child plus tax..we were NEVER given a menu or told the price...the Luxe across the street which is much more elegant has Sunday Brunch WITH bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary's for about half that..We were NEVER offered any drinks..the child had to settle for water..the service was non existent
DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY $563.33 for brunch..This was the biggest RIPOFF I have ever experienced in my more than 75 years living in Los Angeles.
Came for a Mother's Day brunch and was shocked when we got the bill for 3 adults and a toddler...$335!!! No one bothered to tell us about special pricing even after I specifically asked. I couldn't believe they would charge us that ridiculous pricing, especially because it was a mediocre buffet. We left highly disappointed.
I was meeting friends who were driving from LAX and I was driving from Woodland HIlls. It was a great halfway point. The view is terrific but we were all pleasantly surprised by the food. I had the quinoa salad and others had the quinoa burger. The portions were all huge and extremely satisfying. I would definitely return with friends!
Was charged $28 for parking INSTEAD OF $7
Was supposed to receive 1000 open table points
But received only one hundred
It was my friends birthday I was promised
A free desert or two glasses of champagne
DID NOT RECEIVE EITHER
