   The menu 'reads' really well but in reality the food served here is very average. Service was friendly but slow, we had to ask for more drinks rather than being offered them. My fish soup starter was ok but could've done with a slightly bigger portion, the bowl was huge but very little soup in it. The Focaccia croutons came in two long thin strips and they were very crispy. My preference would be to have some soft bread. The Rib eye steak was a little chewy and dry for my liking. I asked for it medium-rare which is was in some places and a little too well done in other parts. I think this may have been because it wasn't cut evenly. One of my friends who I was with had the same thoughts about his steak. It wasn't the best or worst steak we've ever had but for £20 it was average and we expected better. A slight annoyance we encountered was when a nearby table complained the burger they ordered was "raw". I cannot verify this as I did not see it. The staff dealt with it quickly by bringing out a freshly cooked burger at the same time my tables meal was being served. My other friend had also ordered a burger. Our meals had arrived and almost 5 minutes later there was still no burger. I can only assume my friends burger was ready and was given to other table that complained. This would be a strange choice for the waiting staff to make. Why cause delays to two tables?!? My friend enjoyed their burger and the other diner with us was more than happy with their Fish and Chips. As two of our friends were happy with their choices they asked me not to complain and we were all quite hungry so most of the food was eaten. Hence the 3 out of 5 rather than 2. They may well have been having an off night, which is a shame as its a lovely building to have dinner in and the waitress we had was friendly. Maybe we will give it another chance later down the line.

   The staff are all very caring and attentive. It is not the cheapest in the area but well worth paying the extra.

   Nice older style establishment. Pleanty of room and quiet. The staff were very good and attentative. We went at 6:30 on a Sunday and missed the Sunday Roast, which was what we went for so only had the main menu. Nice food and good value for money. The 2 course special during the week would be very good value. We will be going again

   This really is a lovely venue to meet with good friends and eat Sunday lunch.

   Such a shame, went here for my birthday meal with my family. The quality of the food was poor but prices were high. The roast dinners were lacking in any sort of flavour, the potatoes I'm sure we're left over from lunch as they were all shrivelled and hard. The mushrooms in the chicken and mushroom pie were disgusting with rock hard stalks, and there was almost no chicken at all. Paid for drinks and left.

   Food and service were good but when booking on line I thought I was booking a restaurant table but instead were put in the bar area which was rather cramped and noisy.

   Birthday dinner with the family. Lovely food and good service. Menu a bit limited but even I managed and I've limited range.

    I was so glad that I couldn't book a table at the restaurant closer to home - this was so much nicer. The food took a while to arrive, but when it did it was really delicious. The dining area is comfortable - smart but without being pretentious.
