We serve a 9 course tasting menu available either at the chefs counter or at the regular dining table.
We also have a temaki lunch set available on Saturday and Sunday during lunch time.
Please be aware that the dining table is named “high top table “ on the reservations.
My favorite restaurant. They turn food into art. A must try for Japanese food lovers.
Incredible kaiseki experience. Menu changes every month. We had A5 wagyu sukiyaki and many other dishes. Very classy experience at the counter.
The service and food were amazing. The fish was amazingly fresh! Before you eat each course you can see the food being prepared and then one of the chefs will give an explanation of exactly what is in the dish. The food was fairly traditional Japanese but with a few interesting modifications and additions to create some novelty.
Everything was just amazing! The food was like a special type of magic - it was delicious, unusual, and beautiful in the plate. It's obvious that every meal was made with so much love and attention to details. There was no unnecessary food in the plate, everything had its own purpose.
I consider this place not just the place for eating, but for getting some new experience. It's a bit pricey, but it definitely worth it.
Thank you so much!
We went for weekend lunch. We had a large assortment of fish and vegetables served with dashi soup, sushi rice and nori - a make-your-own sushi platter! The food was incredible, the service was warm and timely, and the ambience was both relaxing and energetic. I would strongly recommend, and am looking forward to returning one night for dinner.
Every bite was well planned and delicious. The meal was just the right length to enjoy every dish without feeling rushed. The sake tasting menus were also fun and paired well.
Great food, great service and normal indoor volume. :) Just wish the courses had a little more food since it was so delicious.
Was great, I'd like to see a larger sushi course but otherwise great!
the restaurant is extremely welcome and explanatory. The presentation was very detailed and delicious. I wish I had more sushi though.
Delicious, unique, impeccably presented. Phenomenal service. Really enjoyed it an would recommend for a special occasion. Food is good but you're really paying for the experience here.
Beautiful. Many courses of small bites, each its own offer of taste, texture and color. I called a day in advance and the chef accommodated my GF needs. Sit at counter for full experience watching each dish get assembled.
A wonderful unique experience
Great price for a very fun meal. You get to make your own sushi rolls with very fresh fish and well prepared ingredients. Will come back for dinner.
Staff are all pleasant and accommodating. Food was exquisite as was presentation. A great place for special occasions.
Epicurean delight! Fantastic dining experience beginning to end.
Fantastic service, delicious food, beautiful ambiance.
Came here for a special night out, it did not dissapoint! Very expensive, but, in my opinion, well worth it.
A very special experience. 8 course tasting menu only, served with a description by the chef of what you are about to eat. The dishes were unique in my experience--great taste and gorgeous.
This was my second time here, and it was delicious and creative. We had the October menu. The presentation of each dish was visually stunning, incorporating a fall aesthetic into the meal. They take risks with their food here, juxtaposing flavors that are not commonly found together while operating within the framework of a traditional kaiseki menu. Best of all, every time you come back, the set menu has changed. A5 wagyu and sea urchin made appearances on both of the menus I have tasted. Almost everything else had changed, making each experience unique.
Wonderful experience. Great customer service and the food was beyond all expectations. The 9 course meal was portioned perfectly and everyone left happy and satisfied. We will be back again!
Thoughtful, uncomplicated and well prepared food, with attentive and friendly, unpretentious service. We'll be back.
Amazing. Fresh food, impeccable service.
Food and service were both top notch!
One of the best tasting menu I’ve ever tasted. The overall experience is awesome
Enjoyable experience for the two of us, but that was the whole point. We enjoyed the variety of the courses, the flavors, textures, and the presentation. We’re normally not ones to take pics of our food, but we took a few and a video for our private viewing pleasure. I recommend it to anyone looking for an experience. We were also full by the end of the meal, which we found odd yet refreshing considering the portions.
It's definitely a good experience. Very relaxing. Feels been taken good care of & amazed at how creative are the food! There were a few pauses during the 9-course dinner, we happily took the chance to give palate an intermission.
Was a bit underwhelmed. Clean, fresh flavors but some dishes lacked dimension and texture
Surprisingly, THE BEST Japanese Restaurant we’ve been in North America. Would like to go back in a heartbeat!!!!
Was the highlight of our Seattle trip.
Excellent food, fantastic atmosphere, and wonderful service
Excellent food. The Kaiseki set menu was very good with a taste of many different ingredients. True to the traditional Japanese cooking style. Very close to what one may experience at an upper scale traditional Japanese restaurant in Japan. The service was excellent.
Truly an experience!!
Such a special way to bring in my 39 birthday with such beautiful food and wonderful humans. Thank you wa'z! <3
Wonderful Japanese kaiseki place for a special occasion dinner. Fyi, "high top" means table, not counter, but it was just fine because the chef hand-delivers your food to the table and gives you an explanation of what you're about to eat.
It was such a wonderful dining experience at Wa'z! We went there to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was perfect in many ways. Every item in the Kaiseki menu was well-executed and the chefs took their time to explain what the dish was made of. Food presentation was also outstanding and it was aesthetically pleasing. It is a great place to celebrate special occasions and I can't wait to go back there next time. :-)
I came here with my husband as a secret surprise to celebrate his birthday, as a weekend getaway from the Bay Area. Little did we know, we had one of the best kaiseki experience outside of Japan. To back up my claim, we’ve been to Japan handful of times and have stayed at various ryokans. We always look forward to our traditional kaiseki meals because it showcases the local and seasonal ingredients of a particular region of Japan.
Chef Hiro and his team of sous chefs nailed the heart of kaiseki cuisine. The simplest of ingredients are also the most difficult to master. The cooked rice had the glossiness & stickiness. The dashi (base broth for many Japanese dishes) was clear and packed with umami. Everything from the knife techniques, the beautifully shaped plates, the presentation of the food, to the explanation of every ingredient each course made us felt like we were in Japan once again.
Thank you Chef Hiro & team for such a fulfilling meal and for making my husband feel special that night. I only wish for wa’z to be closer to the Bay Area! Or perhaps plan to open a restaurant in the near future in the Bay Area? 🙂
It’s not well explained but there seems to be set seating times as they prepare courses in groups. Nice explanation of each course but an overall explanation of kaiseki for newcomers would have been nice. Quality of food was great but it’s not the same as I had in Kyoto.
Visually stunning, interactive, and delicious meal clearly made with care and intent. Delightful and unique brunch - highly recommend!
1 chefs nails are too long and should be cut and shortened
2 after tax tips, $145 per person. price > expectation, very disappointing. Most ingredients are just cost saving. The most valuable dish (tsukuri/sashimi) out of the 9 courses tastes just OK, not amazing for sure, but very salty, also uni was not very fresh.
3 Not the best omesake in North America, but one of the most overpriced for sure (I don't mind paying high price otherwise I won't book the table, but price is way above expectation.)
4 Very disappointing that the chef would short me a jasmine ice cream on the menu, which tells me that they are not that professional on managing their food or portion for their customers (compensated me with a salted cream and a nasty miso ice cream that I did not enjoy)
The food and service was outstanding. My wife and I attended with two other friends and we all came away with smiles. It is expensive, relative to just a regular night out, but we all felt we got our money’s worth. For a special occasion, I’d highly suggest it just for the experience.
As I was researching restaurants for our upcoming visit, I saw Wa’z on several foodie lists. A fan of Japanese food and the beautiful and incredible kaiseki meals served during visits to Japan, I booked two counter seats for my wife and I.
We both loved the experience watching the chefs execute their craft with artistic finesse up close. Each of the nine courses perfectly balanced in flavor and almost too pretty to eat. I enjoyed everything from start to finish with the salmon tartare, wagyu beef and uni, and unagi courses being among my favorites.
If you’re in the city and looking for a great culinary experience, Wa’z is an excellent choice. Can’t wait to come again the next time we’re in Seattle.
Awesome experience. Good food, friendly staff and chefs! We would definitely go back.
